    Thank you so much for this series! I bought this serger and after threading it once I was terrified of using it again. I am always so thankful for people like you that make these videos. I am asking (begging :-) ) that you make more videos using this serger. Like beginner projects that we can follow along with! Your wonderful! Thanks again.

    Thank you, most useful. This model is the same one as was sold in one of our UK budget stores (Lidl) up to about two years ago so it's a common one in the UK. Always helpful to have a clear well filmed video about the features.

    I purchased the Singer 14 S 654 today after several years of debate. Any courage I may have had to use the machine evaporated as soon as I removed it from the box. Thanks to your tutorials, I just might be able to master at least the basics of the serger. I appreciate your clear explanations and your cautions to practice patience!

      Hi Gail! Happy to hear my videos instructions have been helpful. Yes, patience is the key with learning the serger. Takes time and effort, but worth it in the end! Enjoy!

    Hi. I bought this serger a year ago took it out of the box I tried to read and figure it out and got so overwhelmed it's been sitting but I have made myself get on here to figure it out as I'm a visual person. Your 3 videos have been very helpful to have as a start. I hope you do more. Thank you

    Hi. I purchased this serger about 2 months ago. I just couldn't make heads or tails of the instructions on how to start using this machine. Following your 2nd tutorial, I was finally able to change the threads and it was so easy! I followed each of your steps and got it done. Thank you!! Also, I appreciate the 3rd tutorial as well. It's so much easier to actually see what each feature is used for and how to do it. I do hope you will be adding more tutorials as I hope to sew alot using the serger. If you can do a tutorial on each different stich, that would be great. Again, thanks!!!

      Hi Yvonne! I'm so glad to hear you were able to get your machine working. Sergers can be challenging and require some extra patience in the beginning. I hope to do more videos on this machine soon. Happy Serging!

    Roxanne thanks so much for your videos they are terrific. I got the Singer serger for Christmas last year and found it veryintimidating. Your videos made me understand the machine much better. Please do more for the serger, I also have the different presser feet for the machine. Your instructions are so easy to understand hope you will do more and show howto do different stitches for other types of projects.

    • @RoxanneStitches
      @RoxanneStitches  8 лет назад

      Thanks so much Barbara! Many people find sergers very intimidating for some reason. I guess because you can actually see many of the moving parts. The most important thing to remember is to disengage tension when threading. This is to insure that the threads actually go through the tension disks to control the tension of the stitch. Good luck and Happy Sewing!!

    omg! thank you soooooo much. I seriously couldn't get my serger to do what I wanted for the longest time, reading the manual was confusing since I didn't know the parts it was talking about (and it was in Spanish.....) now I can serge what I want with a smaller stitch!

    Thanks for this series of videos! I've had my new Singer Serger Pro (my 1st serger) for over a month and I'm still afraid to try it out for the first time. But your videos have really helped, so, I'll take the plunge very soon! I did NOT get a screwdriver with my machine... I'm going to have to contact Singer about that! Thanks!

    Thank you for explaining how to thread with clarity!
    One thing you may have overlooked is how does one determine the amount of fabric that is cut or the amount to cut? There are measurements on the plate, but for some reason, I seem to cut more fabric than I intend.
    Thanks again

      Stephanie Denise Your seam allowance dictates where you sew the seam. It also depends on which needle you're using as to the seam width. Thanks for pointing that out.

    I have this machine. Fairly new to me. The arm that the blade is attached to is higher than I think it should be because the up and down motion of it doesn’t stay within the rounded area of the looper cover that it should be in. Also when I push the blade to disengage it, it won’t turn, I think because the body of the machine is preventing it from going in as far as it should to be able to turn the blade.

    • @RoxanneStitches

      Hi Susan. Sounds like something is misaligned.

      Roxanne Stitches I opened up my machine and found a bolt to loosen that allowed me to adjust the blade arm. It’s working like a charm now. Should have made a video. Lol

    thank you for explaining the finger spreader and how it is used. Singer doesn't even give a decent explanation for it in their manual. Too much is taken for granted when explanations are given. I don't even use the storage on the left side because I can't get it off without wrangling with it. Also, people need to know proper placement of threads once threaded thru the loopers which is explained in the cd that should have come with the machine, or maybe in the manual? Saw it somewhere...anyway..THANK YOU FOR YOUR GREAT TUTORIALS.

    Hi...I just bought this serger today....I had trouble understanding the book info. Needless to say I'm so glad i found your videos....one question...what is the little black knob just under the sliding stitch width lever...I turned it a bit thinking it was something to do with the blade...hopefully i turned it back to were it was....but I'd like to know what it is and does. Anyhow how, Thank You so much for your videos!

    • @RoxanneStitches

      M Kumaus Hi! Congrat's on your new serger! I hope you love it. Glad you found my video helpful. Thanks for pointing out the black knob below the seam width finger knob. I don't think I pointed that out in the video. That's the seam width adjustment knob. If you practice moving it in one direction and stitching, then the other direction and stitching, you will see how it adjusts the stitch width. Great question!! Thanks!!

    Can you do a video on replacing the upper knife? I took the old one off and now it seem like the blade is too short, even when I put the original back in, it jumps out on the metal plate

    • @RoxanneStitches
      @RoxanneStitches  8 лет назад

      Hi +Audrey Banks Make sure the tension is disengaged when threading. If the thread is not passing through the tension disks properly, that will affect your stitches.

    My Juki MO-103N creates extra loopy upper and lower looper chains and i've changed the needle, rethreaded, made tension adjustments, cleaned the machine, and even changed the lower knife....still extra loopy threads and it's driving me insane sigh
    ..

    • @RoxanneStitches
      @RoxanneStitches  4 года назад

      Hi Stella. I'm not familiar with that machine, but my Brother 1034d does that too if the stitch width is set on default. I bump up the stitch width dial to 6 and it solves the issue. Maybe there's a similar adjustment dial on your Juki? Hope this helps.

    • @StellaCarey
      @StellaCarey 4 года назад

      @@RoxanneStitches is stitch width different from stitch length? because there's a dial underneath my serger from 1-6 that regulates stitch length.

    • @StellaCarey
      @StellaCarey 4 года назад

      @@RoxanneStitches stitch width has a kind of a marker in the throatplate, correct?

    • @RoxanneStitches
      @RoxanneStitches  4 года назад

      @@StellaCarey It could be. I have a dial on my SPF to under the throat plate to adjust width. Check your manual for something that say stitch width. You did make sure the threads are seated properly in the tension disks, right? Threading with the presser foot up and the dials set to -0- will insure that. If you adjust dials with no stitch improvement, that's your issue.

    • @StellaCarey
      @StellaCarey 4 года назад +1

      @@RoxanneStitches yes, i made sure to put the dials to zero before inserting the threads, then i dropped down the presser foot and adjusted the tension...i think my machine's upper looper tension discs might have problems...but with sergers my gosh any little thing could be the problem.
      before opening up my juki i'll look around for the stitch width regulator...it's not mentioned in my manual but i'm gonna take a look at other juki model's instruction manuals and see if my serger has it...thank you very much for your suggestions!!!

    • @RoxanneStitches
      @RoxanneStitches  8 лет назад

      Hi Claudia. Make sure that the tension is disengaged when threading your machine. Your thread might not be passing through the tension disks properly and that can cause tension issues.
