    I've been importing SketchUp models for over ten years to max. The best way to import it is... Save SketchUp as SketchUp version 2015. Then import it into max natively... Use the legacy importer. No need to weld anything, it comes in perfectly.

      By legacy importer u mean i should go : File>import , that's it
