I took my car 2007 suburban to the dealership. They said I needed the purge Valve. They wanted to charge me $560. I looked it up. Park $50. I watched your video and decided to do it myself. I did it? Save $510. It was exactly how you said it would be. Thank you so much!
Thank you for explaining the tabs and cover! You did a great job! Most just point to it and don't actually show you the small details that are assumed we understand.
Just did a switch on a 2007 Chevy Suburban. Took me about 40 minutes, parked outside of the auto parts store. No special tools required except the Flathead just as stated. Goodbye worst code in the world! Once again, an excellent job on the tutorial guys. Thank you very much.
Great video! I did it slightly differently. Thank you for taking the time to show how the final hose clip worked. I chose to remove the canister from the bracket first then turn the whole thing over and remove the hose. I then reinstalled it the same way. 15 minutes tops!
Outstanding to show the "little tab", because some videos don't show the detail so you cannot tell what they are doing. I'm replacing one and just don't want to break any parts. Thanks!!!!
Thank you for your informative video and taking time to explain what you were doing and why you were doing it. The entire process took me 30 minutes, including watching this clip before the attempt. Thanks again.
I absolutely LOVE your videos!!! So short and direct to the point!!! No extra verbiage trying to figure out what is the next step! I’ve saved my parents so much money by just buying parts and watching your videos and I do the labor!!! Thank you all!!!
I used 1A Auto video to replace my 08 silverado evap solenoid. Disconnected ground and all codes are gone. Good job guys and thank you, I will use you again.
I had to do smog this year but had the check engine light on my 07 Tahoe on, so obviously I had to get that fix. So I went to get that scanned and I had 2 error codes. One was error p0121 and the other was p0455(EVAP large leak). After a couple of hours of google and RUclips videos my dad and I decided to do and inspection of all the EVAP lines. Everything seemed fine, so we went with the idea that this particular valve was the problem. I went to ORiley to buy the valve and asked the guy that help me out about the other code I had p0121(Throttle position sensor error). He told me “ I recommend you buy the Purge valve first because I thing the sensor error is coming from that faulty valve”. Ok so I did that got home installed the new valve ran my truck a bit and BOOM no more check engine light 😊. Check engine light went away by itself while running my truck. That same day went to do smog test and my truck past no problem.
Thank you so much! My manual had me crawling around under the back end by the charcoal canister. Couldn't find it so I found your video. Literally 45 seconds later and I was done. Thank you thank you thank you

Thanks very much. Those new simple hose connections were a puzzle for this old dog. Now to reset the dash light? I have a 2011 Chevy RoadTrek camper conversion van. So had to remove the glove box attached to the back of the dog house to access the clamps to remove the dog house. That was more complicated than changing the part.
Replaced the party with ease due to this video. One question, should the check engine light disappear after this repair, or does it need to be reset by my mechanic?
+Mac Davies This may need to be reset by your mechanic. We suggest having them double check to ensure there is no issue with any other items causing the check engine light.
I’m dealing with the same code ... just curious will the check engine light turn off once this is replaced(if that’s all that’s wrong) or will I need to have someone reset the light?

Would it be smart to blow air through that hose? I just replaced the charcoal cannister and the vent solenoid on my wife's 07' Suburban and after getting all the charcoal out of the fuel tank vent line the truck filled up with no issues. But now, a P0446 engine light came on. So I am wondering if I also need to replace this Purge Valve.
I see that on my 2009 suburban, I replaced the solenoid in 2019, 5 years ago, now I'm getting the engine check light. I replaced the solenoid and still getting engine check light. I even reset the code with the code reader and after restarting the engine, the ECL comes on again. Does it eventually reset itself? Thanks - Jim
Do you have a hose that you where explaining about the tab that under it mine broke and in needing to replace it and can not seem to find it anywhere I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me out with a part number for it if possible
So, I have replaced just about everything in this system for my 2007 Suburban 1500 5.3. Starting with the vapor canister, it had blown chunks of charcoal up the fuel vent pipe as well as the vacuum line up to the purge valve solenoid. I used a vacuum on both lines, first going to the fuel vent then the line on the back of the purge valve when I replaced it up at the engine where it was clearly pulling chunks of charcoal out. I then replaced the solenoid and hoped for the best. Seems it is still an issue however, which has me thinking the lines are not fully clear, so I'm trying to find out the process for just replacing the hose running from the vapor canister up to the purge valve solenoid, does this make sense to do, and do you have any thoughts as to what is involved?
Thank you, this literally did only take me 5 minutes to change. I turned off the check engine light with my scanner, hopefully it will stay off, if not then I guess it’s something else. Thanks for the great video

You need a code reader. Most local parts shops will scan and or clear your code for you. Otherwise there is no way of knowing other than the truck not having issues any longer.
If I disconnect the negative battery terminal before and then reconnect when im done installing the new part , will it reset the check engine for that p0446 code ?
I've changed the purge valve solenoid on my 2013 yukon denali. Will the check engine light go off by itself or do I have to clear it with a scanner please help?
I just checked out your video I have a 2007 Denali I want to AutoZone for Diagnostic and they told me it was my canister purge valve under the car by the muffler but I have the same codes p0442 you have so I'm wondering is it the one under the hood. Need help..
+1lilbudda Thanks for watching! If the spring tab is broken then you will likely have to replace the hose, as the spring is not replaceable by itself. 1aauto.com
How can you tell if these are bad? I have a P0496 and am checking this and a few other things, took this off and it looks like original, (2008 Yukon with 283,000 miles) took my valve off, was able to blow through it like a straw
Disculpa, que problema tenía tu carro? Yo tengo una tahoe 2005 y tiene problema al poner gasolina, bota la pistola, le cambiaron el canister y sigue el mismo problema.
My 13 Silverado keeps clicking the fuel pump off, I bought a canister and the other part has a a long plastic corrugated tube with what it looks like a filter on the end. Where does the end part go and do I have the right parts? Tia
I have a Chevy Tahoe with the same issue. The pump keeps shutting off. I have to fill my tank extremely slow. My check engine light is in and shows code P0442. Do you have a rough idle? Mine is a little rough. I think the gas pump issue is related to this video, but it’s a vent valve solenoid connected to a charcoal canister at the back of the vehicle.
thanks a ton for the video my vehicle was slightly different, but the video was very insightful. Side note did anyone else check engine light remain on even after switching the device?
andre deleon you can disconnect the battery and then reconnect it to get rid of the code or take it to an auto parts store and they can usually clear the code for free.
My truck was idling rough, service traction control light, stabilitrack off and reduced engine power happened. I replaced this canister purge valve and it’s still happening. Any recommendations?
+Jared Vuksan We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
So how do you clear the CEL code after the new part is installed? I disconnected the battery first, changed the purge valve, then reconnected the battery and it’s still giving me the CEL code for the evap valve.
+Matthew Hoffman We don't have a how-to video for your vehicle right now, but the basic steps in this video should be enough to do this task. Buy this part for your vehicle on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
So I replaced mine very easily but as I went to make sure everything was on snug, the vacuum hose that is toward the front of the vehicle that goes on the gray nipple broke. Is that hose replaceable or am I SOL?

You need a code reader. Most local parts shops will scan and or clear your code for you. Otherwise there is no way of knowing other than the truck not having issues any longer.
If I disconnect the negative battery terminal before and then reconnect when im done installing the new part , will it reset the check engine for that p0446 code ?

@@kjr07002 thanks for the info was having same issue. Light is off!
Very simple fix with this video appreciate it
Thanks for the video. Its really appreciated. 👍
1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
throttle body position sensor or Accelerator pedal position sensor, hope you got it fixed by now tho.
I somehow lost the bolt holding it down. It’s on a 2001 Yukon. Any idea what the part number is for the replacement bolt? Thank you!
So how do you clear the CEL code after the new part is installed? I disconnected the battery first, changed the purge valve, then reconnected the battery and it’s still giving me the CEL code for the evap valve.
Perfect , exactly what I needed
Would this help extended crank and tighten gas cap on my truck which I already replaced gas cap
+Brandon Hall It could
It did thanks
Still have a check engine light wonder if its my gas cap? Ive heard that could be the issue
I also need the tube that goes from the solenoid to the back of the engine. Do you carry that?
+Charles Layne We currently do not carry that particular part for your vehicle. Thank you for asking. Have a great day! 1aauto.com
Is that roughly the same location as it would be on a 2000 tahoe?
+Matthew Hoffman We don't have a how-to video for your vehicle right now, but the basic steps in this video should be enough to do this task. Buy this part for your vehicle on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Does the check engine light go away on its own?
I have a check engine light for this but it sounds like a loud ticking sound above my gas tank. Is that noise being sent through the tube?
Sean Innis any luck what it was?
So I replaced mine very easily but as I went to make sure everything was on snug, the vacuum hose that is toward the front of the vehicle that goes on the gray nipple broke. Is that hose replaceable or am I SOL?
+Teresa Mendoza It's replaceable. You can call 888-844-3393 to see if our Reps can pinpoint the correct part for your vehicle
maaaaaan I gotta to tell ya, so much thanks for this video.
+Gabe Miller Your very welcome!
What is the green cap on the line for?
Do i need to disconnect the battery when replacing the purge valve?
I am sure the manual may ask for it to be sure, but I replaced mine without doing so with no issues.
Thank you great video made it too easy
Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com +John Ayo
