Oxtongue Memories from Jack Hubbel

  • A few years ago, we spent a day with Jack Hubbel who shared his memories and stories about his family's logging company, Hubbel & Son. Hubbel & Son at one time ran a sawmill at Oxtongue Lake in Ontario, Canada. We were saddened to learn that Jack passed away on January 9, 2024 at the age of 83. We were blessed to have had a short time with Jack and to get a glimpse of the time he spent as a child at Oxtongue Lake. We hope you enjoy a look at Jack's Oxtongue memories.

    I enjoyed the video. Thank you. Sorry Jack passed away....it would have been cool to meet him!! Is the mill site still running?

      No, the mill has not been running for decades. There is no evidence that it even existed on the lot, although I'm sure there are still lots of logs on the bottom of the lake adjacent to the mill site.
