I am not a fan of China, but I have three of theses Buck knives, the Solo, the Canoe, and a Stockman. They are good knives, mine are very well put together and arrived sharp. If I lose one out in the hay field it won't be the end of the world. Good simple knives for a working person.
Who ever they go through does a good job or they keep the quality control high. I like them for beaters/users my self. I have old bokers, Remington and case that are basically display pieces only due to their value or material used. I just wish buck would release even more patterns... I would love to see a scout/camp pattern from buck. I do love my canoe for fishing, toothpick for personal care and stockman for daily carry.
Fantastic video! I learned a lot about one of my favorite knife manufacturers! Sorry to hear about your dad and your cat, glad the cat is doing better and your Dad is getting medical treatment. I will say a prayer for him.
I am glad that your cat and dad will be getting better. I lost my dad last year at the age of 94. Its rough because I still had a lot of things we could chat about. Good buck video.
Buck makes a US and a China line of slip joints. The US are 420HC and the China Bucks are 420J2 steel. The China Bucks are still a great option compared to other cheaper knives with bad steel. I have a few but they aren't going to hold a edge as long as the US Bucks.
The 309 companion and 305 lancer come in a variety of scales. I have a 309 in brass, the black synthetic, red bone, brown bone, wood and elk antler. I have several 302s and 305s in different scales but I mainly collect 309s. I carry a black synthetic 309 every day.
I have a brand new buck 110 automatic with black ebony scales, I think it was around $180. I got caught with it once in New York and they let me go I’m willing to trade it for a really nice traditional or maybe a couple average traditional’s if you’re interested
There are a lot of people who act like royal asses about Chinese made knives. The truth is that there are some great knives made in China, including the Bucks.
