Listening to the owner of Kilimanjaro is sound system in a very young sound comparing, to King Tubbys was the best sound in Jamaica. As what he is saying, there was a lot of big sound system long before independence on August 6th in Jamaica 1962.Sound like Duke Reid From in the 1950s, Coxene in the early 1960s,, Down Beat, Sir Don,Sir Roger,Sir Den Marks,Duke Hamilton, I know Channel One,Black Scarpio, Tipper Tone,Merry Tone,Echo Tone,Tom The Great,I been listening to sound system in the late 1950s, and early 1960s before independence on August 6th in Jamaica 1962.Before independence on August 6th in Jamaica there was lot of sound systems was around, because guys was travelling farmer workers in the United States and. They useto bring home sound system like my step father sound system, he was travelling farmer work in 1961 and brought home a little sound system playing off 15 inches speakers and 12,also 10 inches. With a steel horn. I listened to his set a couple of times, but it was King Tubbys ruling the sound system in Jamaica back in those days. Tubbys was the best sound and heaviest in beat, because he built his own amplifiers them. Plus he has is owned studio, so nobody hardly could compete with him.
Most necessary contribution to complete the story so far. Big up, Mr. 'Jaro' Harper. Thank you, Chin. Love the story, background knowledge is essential for we selektas, MCs an DJs.
Chin in order to clear up the Black Scorpio statement it has to be known what year Ainsley started to be the selector. Also, u have to bear in mind that when an artiste like Supercat started at Jaro in around 1983 he wasn't big as yet. He was just a young prentice. The big DJ's woulda been Jim Kelly or Burro Banton, among other older and more experienced DJs
I remember one day back in 1994 jaro come to papagus lawn in fhalmuth and we was all there waiting to see jaro reach the location and at that time jaro was already there is the Volkswagen van lockt up and no one never know so my point is just to show how simple was killaman jaro back in the 90s
Yes Chin....part 2! Please I want to hear about ninja coming to the sound, and how Trooper started out. How Trooper came to an end, and what's the plans for the future! Big respect....your doing a great job!
My brother. You won't be able to find something that didn't exist. He said 1969. So he himself Mr Harper can not produce no dance recordings from 1969 or early 70s. Not even from 1979 you can find a Jaro cassette. Something is not adding up with the 1969 thing. I have a hand full of cassettes from 1979. And if Mr Harper can not PROVE that his sound was working by providing a cassette from them time. He should stop saying so
I will always luv KILLAMANJARO SOUND
