Hey Peter, as far as the backup location being in the same tenant vs outside, it's a matter of what if our tenant is compromised. If an attacker gains access to our tenant, they have access to the backup data. Whereas if the backup data is stored elsewhere using unrelated credentials, the attacker doesn't immediately have access to the data.

Thanks Peter. I am considering M365 backup as I like the idea of native solutions from MSFT. It uses MS Syntex, but I was surprised I had to pick an Azure subscription for billing, not added onto my Monthly M365 E3/E5 invoice. I did skim the M365 backup preview Ts and Cs and remarkably it says "The Feature Preview isn't included in the SLA for Microsoft Syntex and may not be covered by customer support". Now, if backup is going to be a big deal for them, they would be crazy to make backup data not very robust and available, but if you are a corporate, surrounded by lawyers, you wouldn't touch it in production with a bargepole - you would certainly be running something else until this is GA.

Agreed yes. I always do say avoid preview features as a general rule of thumb.

@@peterrisingM365 Weird when the preview is a backup product though isn't it? Its like untested safety belts in cars :)

Hi Peter, thanks for your helpful videos.
Which systems would you recommend to backup M365 with OneDrive, Sharepoint, Teams and Dynamics BC 365?

Thanks for the kind words and you are very welcome. I don't have any specific recommendation just now. Definitely not the MS one though as it's preview and too early days. Veeam is the one I hear talked about and adopted the most though.
