🗣Tones & I has come a long way mate , she has done the hard yards busking and being true to herself not changing her style to fit into mainstream music industry 👍 Love her music & style 🎶🤜🏼🤛🏾
I love her uniqueness. She can sing, she can belt, growl, hold notes and yes there also a unique sound. I love that she doesnt, and if fact refuses to conform to the way mainstream want female artists to look and sound. If you dont like the way she sounds at least look at the lyrics, the songs have so much meaning. Multi talented, singer, songwriter, musician.

And companies like SME are the reason you haven't heard of so many international artists. They don't want you to hear it unless they get a cut of the pie.
The original version had significant meaning to many after the terrible droughts,shocking bushfires and devastation from pre Covid,many little ones had never seen rain and so much was lost and people did not have water to bathe or give to animals and the poor farmers of Oz,either flooding or droughts
Never heard this song and so glad I checked in here to hear it. Astounding performance.

She is just so cool, I love her voice!
her first single 'Dance Monkey' was number 1 in sooo many countries, written by her and Qantas also used her other song 'Fly Away' in one of their post covid ads. She has gone from busking to having 10's of millions of dollars in the bank. A real rags to riches story which IS not a one hit wonder especially in a very body image / conscious driven industry.
I love her voice, it's so unique. She reminds me a little of Cindy Lauper. I don't know, maybe it's just me!

Completely agree with all the comments - Dance Monkey was a negative to an amazing - EP then LP worth of amazing songs. And even though they charted - they should have had such a much bigger impact - though Co-vid did kind crash her momentum for overseas appreciation.

I felt sorry for Tones the year after Dance Monkey. She'd had such an amazing break out year, but because Dance Monkey went so crazy everyone kind of got burnt out on her here in Aus. Her new stuff would come out and people would go "It's pretty good, but I'm a bit tired of hearing her" which was a shame as some of the stuff she released was really good, but fell flatter than it should have. I'm glad she's pushed through as it's starting to even out again. It can't all be Dance Monkey, nothing will catch fire like that again, we just need to appreciate the new stuff for the unique good music it is.
Totally agree - her voice is soooo much more than Dance Monkey... I saw her live on one of the American talk shows and she was brilliant. Talented lady for sure.
Bad Child is legit one of my fave songs, so is Fly Away
She reminds me a lot of Cyndi Lauper if Cyndi Lauper had a thicker, richer tone. Tones and I has Cyndi's thinner, unique texture but can beef it up a little when she wants to. Iconic.

Some artists anything works because its natural for them. If what ever they sing isn't natural, they just sound fake..

Some of the most iconic songs are one hit wonders and some of the most iconic artists never even had a number one hit. Music charts are about popularity and marketability. Chart placement does not determine the quality of a song or artist.
Seriously Ian , pull your head in - have you bothered to listen to anything else she's sung (actually check them out and read the lyrics) - I'm very far from a teeny bopper and she is a one in a generation kind of singer .
She's an incredible vocalist. Not always a fan of her songwriting, but she gets it right sometimes
