      That is not true, though. Search for "Iracing time lapse day night" here on RUclips and you can definatly see videos showing (dynamic) shadows - there are even dynamic cockpit shadows. Nils seems to be driving at 12:00 in the noon with the sun exactly on top. Unsure whether it would actually look like that on the real Nordschleife at 12:00 noon but there are pictures of other places on earth in the net where it is 12:00 noon and objects on the ground cast no shadow at all as the sunlight is coming directly from above - look it up on google: "Lahaina Noon" :)
      Iracing's shadows don't look as modern and/or pronounced as on other games, though - I agree on that.

    • @jonathanbiccum4486
      @jonathanbiccum4486 4 месяца назад

      @@mikecoates5574 it's much more than just the online system that keeps iRacing going. They have one of (if not the best) relationships between developers and users in the industry. The new rain model is just the latest example of that. But probably the biggest thing is car handling/vehicle dynamics. The cars feel and respond the way they ought, particularly on the brakes. There's a reason scores of professional racing drivers regularly race on iRacing and not on other titles.

    So, picture this: I'm sitting here, torn between two virtual loves - ACC and Automobilista 2. They both look like they were born to rev my engine, but let's be real, my wallet's giving me side-eye.
    ACC is whispering sweet nothings, but I'm playing hard to get. I mean, sure, it looks sleeker than a freshly waxed Ferrari, but will I slap down the cash for it right now? Nah, not today, my friend.

    • @kevinhadj82
      @kevinhadj82 5 месяцев назад +1

      You know you can adjust the visuals/colors in-game right ? AMS2 looks good until you have it on a big screen and see how they got such good performance by rendering shadows as a way too low resolution.

    • @DCFHazardRebornChannel
      @DCFHazardRebornChannel 5 месяцев назад +1

      Aaaaah yes, the usual "its oversaturated" comment. There is literally a saturation bar in the options. Couple this with contrast to get the right balance and you can get any shading and saturation you want.
      Be that as it may, real life has saturation.
      Im tired of everybody thinking less colour is more real. Its not. It only reminds you all of cameras and watching races on screens. Actual real life? Much more saturated than people think and perceive.
      Kinda tiring tbh after decades to still hear the same inaccurate comment. This was a trick we did back in ps1 days to get rid of colour burning and shades that looked like blotches of paint. We dropped contrast, saturation and sharpness, and job done.
      No need anymore. The colour shades and grading in todays visuals does not need this treatment anymore.
      The notion of too saturated is getting old by now, especially when again, its literally like 5 clicks away to adjust. Sooooo, why not drop the saturation?
      You know the answer to why... no need to say, it was a rhetorical question

    • @MatzeOnTrack
      @MatzeOnTrack 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@kevinhadj82 Of course I know, that you can pull the saturation down. But it's a post processing feature. ACC renders oversaturated in the first place. If you pull saturation down you get tonal shifts and don't gain dynamic range.
      I don't say it looks bad. It looks like a post card and post cards always look nice, right. But post cards don't look real.
      At the end it's a question of taste. A lot of people like the look of the post card more. But there are also many who like realistic more. I'm just in the second group.

    • @MatzeOnTrack
      @MatzeOnTrack 5 месяцев назад +3

      lol ... No one told me yet it's oversaturated. So how it could be old. After this video it was the first time I even think about.
      The saturation slider in ACC ist post processing. Shifting it in either direction das not improve anything.
      ACC is nice ... like a post card. But it's unrealistic like a post card too. If you have some expierience in color grading you know that.
      btw also the sound is all over the place. Sounds nice. But not realistic. IRacing on the other hand sounds way to weak.

    • @DCFHazardRebornChannel
      @DCFHazardRebornChannel 5 месяцев назад

      @@MatzeOnTrack stop changing goal posts my friend and making up things as you go. Changing the saturation is not post processing, it is monitor adjustment. It is there for a reason. To be able to adjust a game to what the monitor setup is for each user first of all, and second to give control over the result they want.
      It has contrast and saturation there for selection for a reason.|
      It is better to have more colour saturated gradients that are defined and to turn them down rather than have less colour gradients and need to turn them up if the colours are washed out.
      Depending on the monitor and monitor setup colours can look either washed out or bleed out. You strike the balance between the two.
      As for realism, sorry my friend you are wrong. Again, real life is saturated, it has colour. Go outside and see. If unfortunately you live somewhere like Germany and your entire life is desaturated 90% of the time due to the lack of sun, its only your perception and region. Those of us on the other hand that live in the Mediterranean on the other hand and have ample light can see clearly how vibrant nature is when there is enough sunlight.
      So it all depends on weather conditions regional atmosphere as well etc. Clear day with sun? There are vibrant colours. End of story. The "realism" you people are talking about is non existent. Its washed out. For this reason ACC looks the most realistic in these conditions hands down. iRacing looks like washed out dick. And that other excuse of a game looks like it has too high gamma and not good ambient lighting. They all can do better with some ambient lighting colour, and there are aspects in AB2 that are nice visually as well but not realistic. Stop confusing yourself and making up stuff along the way.
      Drop the saturation and either increase or decrease the contrast of ACC to get something to your liking. I live in a country where the colours look vibrant 90% of the year, so I will adjust it more vibrant as that to me reflects more to actual real life. You on the other hand may live in a country that is dull 90% of the year. No biggy, adjust your monitor setup through the game to what feels more natural to you. But the fact of the matter is, real life is saturated. And no amount of arguing about it is going to change facts.
      "its too saturated, bluaaaaaa"... no, its not. Now if for you a dull desaturated less lighting higher contrast image in clouds and rain is your reference to how reality then, good for you, adjust the game to what suits you and move along.
      The rest of us that have travelled the world as well and have seen what nature looks like will enjoy the extra saturation just fine.
      ps, there are also colder, cold, neutral, warm and warmer options in the game. Why do you think this is? To further help better simulate even more to different peoples' reference. I personally change it depending on weather and country to better reflect what that immersion should be like, others leave it to one setting that suits them. Its not post processing, its called image adjustment. That is why it is there. Its not a fkng filter you throw on top. Its a basic output adjustment. Like your volume on your speakers. Increasing and decreasing it is not "audio mixing" ffs.
      Some people these days.

    Sometimes i think ACC is too "easy" to drive. What i mean is that in most corners the throttle is an on/off Switch, and hey we have TC. Like smooth driving is not worth it or needed. Don't know if it is because of the GT Cars, and how realistic it realy is, but it feels like just mindlessly stomp the pedal.

    • @SimracingPopometer

      Yes ACC wheels easy but i think real life that is the point. There can be lots of GT3 drivers.....pro and amateur drivers. But what make that hard is....when you must drive on your and your car limits....faster that others....thats make GT racing very hard.

    • @TypeRTeg
      @TypeRTeg 5 месяцев назад +1

      Not sure on how realistic it actually is but its like that on most IRL onboards tbf. They don't really modulate the throttle much in any modern racing car it seems for the most part. Braking requires modulating more to be fast but throttle (with correct line etc) not so much it seems. LMU is the same in all cars really and that game feels amazing. Watch any on board of a modern racing car with TC and you will see its basically full throttle as soon as possible.
