More than this being a road course, I think this being something different that the teams don't have nailed down is what helped make it so exciting. All the tracks these teams have been racing twice per season for years. It gets stale. This was organic racing, teams adaoring in real time. Unable to predict how the track would change and tire wear. Even gas usage not an exact science for this race. Just awesome stuff for so many reasons!!
Thats a real good point. Youve changed my mind about the roval (also this race helped). I was unsure that they should change the races at Charlotte but thinking about it, in building the roval theyve probably secured two races at Charlotte for the next decade or more. Hope ur all good.
I like road courses but i dont think they should have too many. I dont think they should have too many of anything - thats the problem with the massive amount of intermediate tracks. Atlanta, Homestead, Chicagoland, Kansas, Kentucky, Vegas, Charlotte, Texas, etc. Theres too many of them for any to have more than one date!! I really wish they could have more short track races - maybe bring North Wilkesboro back, it should never of gone from schedule! Yes Nascar had to expand but while also remaining in the original tracks. I dont see why they couldnt do both - have races further west but also keep races at places like Wikesboro, Rockingham, Darlington, etc. I dont like the roval. Charlotte is too iconic a place to have a gimmick like that. Give it two years and the novelty will wear off!!!
Thank you to NASCAR for uploading this video quicker than usual. I love to watch the race again during the week. You always take away something u missed during the live broadcast. This was an exceptionally exciting race. Great to have it available so quickly!!!!!!!!
TnT_ProDuctions_ that was so bs. There’s no way Larson kept minimum speed and there’s no reason Jeffrey should of been sitting there with a running race car.
Now THIS was a race! Excellent! The finish was something else. Love what they've done to this track, wish more tracks would be converted over to road courses! Nascar, Thank You for posting the race for quickly!
@@user-180-mand90 it's part of racing. That's coming from wickens' biggest fan. Indycar was born and raised on ovals. That's what makes Indycar unique; ovals will always be part of Indycar. Jules Bianchi Is another contemporary tragedy, except his was at a ROAD COURSE and resulted in DEATH. So your stance against ovals is ill-founded.
I never watched this race on my TV before during my life so I am watched this race from last year race on RUclips on my tablet computer beore I will watched this race on September 29,2019.
It would be great to see NASCAR race in Spa Francochamps, Monza, Paul Ricard and Silverstone. It would make us European F1 fans very happy to see them here!
yes he is just like in Chicago with Larson and Busch last lap and him calling slide job was awesome Jeff Gordon is cool 2 i remember him calling Edwards bump and run on Busch at Richmond was classic 2
I wasn’t keen on the Roval after the Xfinity race as it’s hard to find any decent passing opportunity on the track. That being said, this race was great. I do wish NASCAR would go to more actual road courses though like COTA and, if they fancy a trip north of the border, Montreal
Surprised it's taken this long for NASCAR to take advantage of an infield course. Would not mind seeing more of them. I know Indy and Daytona have some pretty well-established ones.
Indy road course would be an interesting solution to the poor oval racing there, but that infield course would not suit cup cars very well, I'm afraid.
I'd love to see NASCAR races on really fast road courses like Monza, Spa or COTA. I think they had one at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. Don't get rid of the ovals and Superspeedways though. A nice, even mix of road course, oval and Superspeedway racing would be great. It would also be more challenging for the teams, since they would have to develop a car which is good on all types of tracks.
I have a question, maybe its stupid, but at the end of stage 2, the #20 car, he pulled up a blue hose. Is that a/c or fluids? I couldnt find his water bottle.
Not a stupid question at all. Most likely fluids. It's pointed toward his mouth and if it were cool air he would have better results if he closed the visor.
Just popped in to see if this is a thing that existed out of curiosity. Cars look quite slow to me through the road course section. Is that a byproduct of them being designed for high speed oval racing and not really for late braking and quick acceleration, or is it just a trick of the cameras?
Theyre 3400 pound stock cars, also only having 4 gears which NASCAR mandates the ratios of per track. Theyre tuned to accelerate as much as they can without chugging along down the banked turns but they very much still are mobile bricks when it comes to high speed cornering
And here I am 4 hours later, still awake at 2:30 AM my local time, watching the end of the race and Blaney taking the win. What a race! More for advancing to the next round than the overall race win. Jimmy made a really bad move and eliminated himself. Too much to comment on it all. Just WOW!!!
So I figured whenever there are no casters talking TV went into a commercial break? Im from Germany and I'm shocked on how often there seems to be commercials
After watching this again I have one question... Kyle Busch cut the course on a restart and gave the spots up, didn't have to serve a penalty. Brad K and Truex spun and lost spots and had to serve a penalty, as well as Jimmie and Truex on the last lap. They spun and lost track positions, why did they have to serve if they spun and lost spots??
I haven't followed NASCAR as closely over the last decade or so. I had no idea that this race was even a thing. I'm leaving this comment before the green flag flies. As much as I still don't like the playoff format, I'm thinking road racing in the playoffs at Charlotte, how can that disappoint!
Could anyone have written a more gut-wrenching loss for both Jimmie Johnson and Martin Truex Jr. than the incident just before getting to the checkered flag?

I agree
yes carnation
Yep
I saw you in a different vid lmao
Thanks NASCAR for putting this race on the schedule!!!

Beautiful words to live by 😂
I guess he forgot that there are a lot of other cars on track too right? :)
I was at this race and I've never seen so many people jump and scream and cheer at a Charlotte race in quite some time!
This is BY FAR the best race of the year so far, unpredictable, unexpected, unbelievable, full of drama, even the aftermath was off the charts! Wow!!!

(Ready for the big one)

Catching up on Last year's races thanks for the timestamp.
i love the road races i wouldnt have a problem with them adding more of thses, most ovals have a roadcorse in them.
I would love seeing them race at Daytona, Texas and Indy infields
@@richardm.6515 People got tired of watching left turns since 1948? what a supprise

There is something incredibly soothing and peaceful watching the clips where there are no commentary. I really enjoy that.
Road Racing in NASCAR is incredible! Please add more road courses to MENCS! Greetings from a old NASCAR fan (1993) from Poland.
I like how Larson was just Slamming every single wall just to pass Jeffrey Earnhardt, yah that car ain't moving anymore

And what do you think now of the Martinsville "video game" move lol
Road America and Circuit of the Americas next! Iowa speedway too.. oh and try to get Rockingham back!
Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal would be great too
North wilksboro and Eldora

What a crazy last 6 laps. Hope they do more rovals
The roval is the best thing to happen in NASCAR for years.
3 races 3 all time classics
These guys need to take it up a notch I want to see the cup series race a road course that features a figure 8.
Man the playoffs this year is way more Competitive and has more Talented Drivers in it than last year's Playoffs
I really hope to see indycar racing on this configuration very soon
yes indycars are simply too fast for pure oval. Just look at what happened to Robert Wickens...really sad
MrBojangles Wickens crashed on a TRIANGLE
Justin Smith pocono is still considered an oval because it goes in a loop with no right turns

Got to love the NBC opening. It gets you pumped up with the rock song.
Come on Clint Bowyer which was in dangerous position of NASCAR PLAYOFFS on September 29,2019's eliminated race.
I need to watch this again.
I feel like next year they will clamp down on the track extension on the infield straight.
How do you go from 7 in the good to out in a corner? 🤣
