Thanks for the play Mike :) The Watcher is my furthest advanced in the game app at lvl 17 of 20 .... guess you chose my favourite character :D
Watching this for the second time to get my fix while working ^^ Got the game 2 weeks ago and it quickly advanced to my "Want to play now" game :P.
Love how much care went into keeping the feel true to the original while streamlining it enough to not feel cluttered or overly complex. Set-up is also so well organized it takes less than 5 mins.
Currently we play at 3 players. Greatly enjoy how perfectly cooperative it is and the shared experience with my friends.

I just went back and beat a watcher run in the video game two nights ago. Good times :)

It was fun to see this as a sort of preview of the game! I gotta say it really does feel like they just plucked the game out of the computer screen and slapped it into a box, I barely even needed to be told any of the rules beyond things like how to set up an enemy's HP. I can see that this might be a difficult game to play because of all the effects that go off; you _really_ have to keep track of your own build which is usually something the game does for you, and that can result in a lot of misplays if you're not paying close attention. My problem with Slay the Spire in general is that my favorite character is the Ironclad, and any time I play a different character I'm just thinking "I wish I was playing the Ironclad right now". In solo I'll get to pick the Ironclad every time but it feels like I'm missing out on three full quarters of the box, and if I'm playing in co-op I can't guarantee I'll get the Ironclad each time because what if someone else wants to play it? I don't wanna be selfish and greedy but to be quite frank, literally all three of the other classes are just too complex for me! They're all based around gimmicky, fiddly mechanics that you have to balance and bounce between properly or you'll lose for sure because you're nerfed unless you have complete mastery of their mechanics, or they're based around combos that let you play a bunch of cards in one turn. I just want to build up an absolute stack of armor and be rewarded for that, dude! I don't need this many buttons to hit! But other than those little nitpicks, the game seems excellent. I would definitely look into this myself!
I actually would like to see you play through Act 2 with this specific build, it really seemed like it was starting to go off by the end and Act 2 is when you either get sent into overdrive or flounder and die tragically. Of course maybe you'd rather keep it a personal thing and keep it off camera, and that's just fine too. But if you do that, at least tell us how it went!

Thank you for the great playthrough!
I only just got into the video game to prepare the rules for a co-op session of the boardgame. What a gem I have missed all these years 😅

Funnily enough, playing the board game reminded me how to play the video game :)

This isn't your review but hearing you say you're going to keep playing off camera is probably a good sign :)

Playing StS coop is a dream come true. I'm so glad I backed the game.
Furthermore, having physical copies of the cards feels great.
Eager to ear your thoughts on the game

I don’t personally care about physical versus digital cards, but fully agree co-op is excellent

I wish this game is coop only just because how good it is. The solo mode is nothing compared to the fun you get slaying the spire with friends!

I don’t mind the solo option, since it works fine, but yes co-op is the best option here

Why complete off camera?! I wanna see where it goes from here! You’ve already built a great deck and I’d love to see where you take it from here.

That's just the nature of our coverage schedule and the time I have available for filming, since this is just my hobby and not my job. Sure, I could do 5 Slay the Spire videos, but then I wouldn't have any time to film the 20 other games sitting in my "to cover" pile 😅

A kinda weird case where it's _such_ a good adaption of the video game that it seems almost redundant as a concept. I guess there's co-op, but I'd rather play a game that's built for co-operation from the start. I'm not attached enough to holding physical cards in my hand to get this. However, I do have a lot of admiration for it as a piece of design - it's really amazing how smoothly they translated it to tabletop form while keeping the feel so similar that experience from the video game carries over seamlessly.

I'll discuss this very topic in my review next week, but the co-op is actually great here. It's super simple, but at the same time it doesn't feel tacked on and it greatly increases the decision space.
So if you think you'll play that mode often, it might be worth it.

You'd never be able to tell it wasn't designed with co-op in mind from the ground up. Its feels more actively co-op than Aeon's End, for example.

      @OneStopCoopShop  Месяц назад +3

@noraptorshere8206 you’re absolutely right, with aeon’s end very separated player turn structure

How do you have a separated recap? I have the french version and don't have one! It's very handy!

Not sure what you mean by “recap”? But this is my friend’s copy and I think he did the deluxe all-in pledge or something like that
