Among all the Celtic music I have listened to over the decades, I became totally enamoured of the group Arcady, whose warm and vivid sets were driven by the most expressive button accordion player I had ever heard. Researching to find out who was on the box is how I discovered the incomparable Sharon Shannon. So delighted to see her receive the honours she deserves, especially surrounded by family and friends like this!
We should never forget Sharon Shannon, this wonderful pretty woman artist! Her music is the expression of her female charm, and her female charm isthe expression of her music!
I am an Irish-American who only recently discovered the talented musician Sharon Shannon. Beautiful music from a lovely soul. I would love to see her perform and meet her the next time I return to Ireland. What a thrill that would be! I hope she will perform somewhere in the States.
I'd say Sharron make many a man heart race including mind . A past master on the button accordion & all round nice person . Congratulations on recognising the talent of Sharron & the rest talented cast on the Late Late show . Most enjoyable .
After watching Sharon perform in the National Concert Hall in August 2017, the Late Late Show is a fitting tribute 25 years earlier to her brilliant history of musical performances.
I' m a german guy and so jealous of your wonderful folk music. Love you Irish guys. Think I will jump to my local Irish pub at happy hour and have a good glas of Guiness or two or maybe more.
This was absolutely unbelievable such magnificent talent. I’m so proud to be Irish and Sharon you’re absolutely brilliant and along with all the others😊
I heard about Sharon Shannon for the first time there by 1991, when she performed with The Waterboys...brilliant and quiot presence and that accordeon always sounding good on every note.
A fitting tribute to Sharon Shannon that this Late Late Show is still available 25 years later on U Tube. Sharon is a beautiful musician and we are fortunate she has made such a contribution to Irish music.. Great credit to Gay Byrne to have presented the show.Credit to Mary Black and Eleanor McEvoy for their contribution also and to all the other contributors to the show who attended in Sharon's honour.
As to the second tune played, I believe Phil Cunningham ripped it out on a pianobox. Must have been the fastest action box of it's kind, if not actually custom crafted.
You can see why Lls should have finished with Gay can you imagine Pat of Ryan pulling this off one of truly great nights of irish tv rip Gay a true legend of broadcasting
The Late Late Show was 100% live and often never ended at the scheduled time, often over running if interviews, debates etc were interesting. To save RTE crashing into their next programme, they put the credits on at the start to ensure it would not happen.
can you imagine gay byrne talking to some of the mob they get onto the late late show nowadays? I actually feel sympathy for Tubridy, fake laughing his way through life.
The sound was atrocious! You might as well have pulled up a John Deere and let it run in the background - it would have made as much sense. And Gay Byrne was a weasel.

She comes to the states. I saw her in Rhodesia Island about 3 years ago. She’s such a joy to see☘️
27 years later Sharon plays and smiles and like set dancing it's fun and that's the way it should be 😊😊😊Thanks Sharon..
Sharon Shannon - what an all-round incredible, beautiful and gifted woman. She makes my heart race.

She leaves me utterly speechless. Her speed, precision and musicianship are awesome.

One of the great Late Late's superbly hosted as usual by the late great Gay.
Was lucky enough to see her back in Galway in the early 90s. Fantastic musician.

Truly Deserved to a Great Musician.
It makes me feel so old to think that this was 22 years ago. I just can't believe that the wonderful Sharon has been famous for so long.

All her tunes here are from her self titled debut album if I'm correct which I'm glad to say I bought at the time.
48:00 Best cover of a Dylan song EVER !!
Yes! (But Jimi Hendrix made a decent fist of 'All Along The Watchtower' too ;-) )
this is the late late show we want to see,not the thrash it is now .
RTE get your act togather and bring back this type of show.
Just love SS
Ross Peterson great
it is sad but it is that a fatherless society does not exist anymore.

Ionica minune best acordion in the world

Irish tv has the credits at the start? Not in the outro? Odd. (I know it’s an old clip)

The Late Late Show was presented by Gay Byrne and after he retired it was presented by Gay Pat Kenny.
Sich a beautiful haunting voice .
And now its presented by a ballbag called ryan tuberty
Shaddin’ Shaddin’....👍
Anyone know the title of the second last piece with Sharon and Liam please, and where I might find it.
Europeans in Argentina sing similar music. What's the name of this band? Sharon's band?
1992
Mate, I'm sure the one who was grateful is Joan Armatrading :-)
18:40 Jesus christ I love jerry
No. He just seems like a proper tidy lad
Credits at the beginning of a show? 🤔
That is how RTE did it from 1962 to 1999
backward :)
can you imagine gay byrne talking to some of the mob they get onto the late late show nowadays? I actually feel sympathy for Tubridy, fake laughing his way through life.
Tubridy is just a wanker.
It's Not the Late Late Show anymore, it's the tubridy show mark two. he has the same style of desk and took his jazz band with him. slán
la la la la la lala lala la laaaa........
what's the opening tune?
I was referring to the first tune, not the show theme.
It's a Quebecois tune called, 'Reel Beatrice' ;)
les Irlandais sont les meilleurs ! 🔵⚪🔴
At 20:18 I spy a young Mairead Nesbitt.
