No because Arthur giving Merlin his *mother's sigil* shows not only that he accepts Merlin as part of his family (cough cough married cough) but also because it's his *mother's* , who we know he cherishes above literally everything else, shows how important Merlin is to him, too, I can't 😭😭
Sigil's were given to,people who became blood brothers too, who were prepared to give their lives for each other - just like Merlin and Arthur.

there is one scene (not deleted but officially aired) where Merlin is doing chores in Arthur's chambers tightening bedsheets and Arthur is dressing himself with some informal hooded cloak to go out incognito and Merlin thinks aloud about, and I paraphrase from memory as I can't remember the ep right now: Merlin: 'this will be the last time any of us sleeps in a proper bed.' and Arthur makes an annoyed face responding with a very weird line for a BBC family show concerned about sending out mixed messages, Arthur: 'Merlin, I am used to face all kinds of horrors in this world but if you think for a second I will share this bed with you...' while Merlin stutters 'what? no, that's not what I meant.' Arthur: 'good' and he leaves his chambers

I sleep in a full bed by myself and I tend to stick to the right side of the bed, but also towards the middle because my cat will be on either side, depending on how she's feeling. Or right in between my legs so I can't move

Which is a bit stupid when you think about it, since damsons (part of the plum family) are native to Britain and have been since forever!
you have to admit it was a rather large plum. suspiciously large, maybe because of magic? but you are right, not identifying plums is weird as they were actually available for an early 6th century Arthur, whereas all the strawberries, tomatoes, grapes etc we saw the characters eat over the seasons were outright wrong

@@clownmonomaniac2630 it was deleted probably because it didn't advance the plot, Merlin was shown snatching food [leftovers] from staff randomly in the hallway to serve Arthur for breakfast (suggesting to us he is considered 'special' among the staff for getting away with this outrageous behaviour), lying to Arthur about his whereabouts or why he is in such a state (thus making his character appear shifty) and Arthur fishing some leafy stuff from his hair as too domestic and Merthur-like and ofc not recognising a plum is not really believable
@@embreis2257 Also, in Season 1 Gaius gives Merlin a sandwich. Sandwiches were not a thing until the 1700s.
As far as I'm concerned, the fact that these scenes were even filmed in the first place makes them canon, who cares if they aired in the actual episodes

I needed the "find that dollophead" scene. And his uncle took it seriously, he guards went on a search because Arthur is just THAT unmanageable without Merlin.
And also that Arthur searched a good number of places and I assume they are all far away, instead of just dress himself haha
also the fact that arthur called him a dollophead when in a different episode he asked merlin if that is even a real work (meaning that he picked it up from merlin)
I 100% believe Arthur uses the “get dressed” thing just as an excuse to be worried on why Merlin’s missing. I mean yes, the scene where he made Gaius help, but that seems ridiculous even for Arthur not to be faking. I think the prat just wants his manservant to just stay where he can protect him
I think that's why Merlin got away with so much inappropriate behavior, like absconding with another royal's breakfast to give to Arthur. excuse me, but a scientific survey with lots of peer review would confirm that about 99+% of young actors auditioning for the _Arthur_ role would show similar behaviour as Bradley shortly after being paired up with Colin and working with him for about 5mins. there is no escaping 🥰

@@mkrizkova28 It'll get better eventually. I'm actually so glad I'm not the only one who always feels down for a while after the finale. Reading fanfic helps a lot. Especially modern AUs, they're my favorite.
Fanfic heals all wounds. No that’s a lie but it helps. If I can make a recommendation, We Begin Again is my favorite Merthur fic, it’s really long and there prequels and sequels but you don’t need to read them. It’s post canon, modern setting. It is just SO good.
Maybe you can try Merlin season 6, kingdom come, for me now it’s the finale :) I haven’t read other fanfic but this one is good! A complete script ready to be filmed actually. They have soundtracks too on RUclips.

The scene with Agravaine is so beautiful. Arthur uses “dollophead,” Agravaine takes him completely seriously, Arthur has already looked in various places for Merlin, and the “last night!” I can’t. It’s so PERFECT

It's usually to do with keeping to the time schedule & having to decide which other scenes to cut instead. I am only glad that they kept them as outtakes on the dvd & that people can share them.
Arthur searching all over Camelot for Merlin and getting the knights to look for him instead of just getting dressed shows that it wasn't just about getting ready, he wanted to find Merlin because he was worried about him 🥺

This just proves how differently actors see the show compared to how the audience does. Even a few scenes (that we ultimately don't see) change the entire story, not including the changes and revisions in the script and modifying, growing and developing the relationship between the actors as a way to manifest its way into the characters, because even the smallest changes make the greatest difference. And, although we might not know the fullest depths in specifics that everyone went to and through in order to make the result, we still HAVE the result, interviews, and the love we see from the work, and that will always be something cherished. ❤

A lot of people talk about the sigil scene, and for GOOD reason, but it’s the scene at 3:18 that REALLY does it for me. Follows the trend of the show in which Merlin and Arthur always have some heart-to-heart by twilight fireside lmao. It gives such insight to both of their characters and relationships with their fathers, as well as creates such a tender scene between the two of them… and then the following deleted scene as well, such a beautiful conclusion to that thread. On top of that Arthur saying “We’ve achieved something” when Merlin confirms he’s happy!! UGH what a loss ☹️
Also isn’t this kind of a Balinor reveal too? Like it’s never stated explicitly that Merlin’s talking about Balinor, and Arthur may be oblivious, but it’s only been a year between season 3 and 4 right? No way he forgot meeting balinor and Merlin’s reaction to his death when they thought his death equaled Camelots doomed. Emotionally packed moments aren’t easily forgettable, so this isn’t like him forgetting Mordred.
Merlin said this was the place he last saw his father. It’s only been a couple years since they bonded during the sins of the father about both missing a parent. Arthur thought Merlin didn’t know his father back then, yet now he says he met him, which means something changed AFTER he came to Camelot, not before when he lived in Essetir.
Now, they haven’t been by the feore Mountains or even in Essetir often because they’d be risking war between Camelot and Essetir, and Merlin’s ALWAYS with Arthur, so when would he have had the time to be by the feore mountains and without Arthur? He couldn’t have, which means Arthur was there when he saw his father for the last time.
Who did they come to find that lived by the mountains in fckn essetir? Balinor.
But what really stood out to me was “don’t measure yourself against a dead man” A DEAD man. Arthur said that so confidently. Didn’t even ask if Merlin’s father died and that’s why he said saw him for the last time. Arthur just assumed that “last time I saw my father” meant his father must’ve died.
He KNEW he was dead because BALINOR DIED IN THAT CLEARING! Also the opener choice of the scene is a direct callback to a talk they had when Merlin was sulky about Balinor, and Arthur said the same thing, “You’re unusually quiet” he said, then he equated that to something bothering Merlin. History literally repeated itself for them here about the Merlin’s dad conflict convo- there is NO WAY that isn’t a directorial choice to show Arthur figured out that Balinor is Merlin’s father. The man who he knows died in that clearing!!!

That last scene, the way Arthur looks at Merlin. I swear he looks at Merlin's lips before Merlin starts talking about 'we'll defeat the Tuaka together' (haven't actually watched the show so I don't know that I'm hearing/spelling that right), which indicates that he wants to kiss him or is at least attracted to him.
Everything about this scene is perfect.. and by arthur giving merlin his mother's sigil..to me that represents the tight hug and the i love you between the the two of them we have all been wanting to see happen... i just love the love they have for each other.
Bradley's Arthur appears to stare at Merlin/Colin's lips quite often. can you blame him? these lips look very kissable.

The one where Arthur can't find Merlin and he's asking his uncle is actually cute because he's mad (with a hidden mix of worry in my opinion) about Merlin
I think we all agree, less is more. Too often people think that by giving 'it all', it is better. But that subtle feeling is more rewarding than had they been more open.

You know… when I first started watching Merlin I thought that the main men weren’t my type and Arthur isn’t.
But there is something about Merlin not just the character but the actor that plays him that is simply adorable. Every few seconds I’m just like “AWWWWWWW😍”

Also, how come Merlin's night shirt is in Arthur's room? And why did Gaius think Merlin is with Arthur "last night" and Gaius doesn't question it? Hmm? Oh and Arthur has no problem saying "last time he saw him was last night?" 😉

I’ve wondered why the sigil deleted scene has always felt so different to me, cz it’s an oddly charged moment, much more emotional than the other ones- and I just realised- it’s because there’s a fckin romantic guitar playing in the background.
…Guys I think they were gonna give us this tender merthur scene, with that melancholy romantic guitar in the back officially because it actually has music, meaning it made it to final stage of processing, and was sound mixed!!! Julian I need a confessional about this!

the people saying the love between arthur and merlin isn’t platonic haven’t had deep, connecting conversations with their friends lol. arthur and merlin care a lot for each other because they’ve grown together and have helped each other through a lot. it’s just like any other close friendship. nothing lovey-dovey about it imo
