More like 20 years haha, Rebel is their 20th anniversary release they debuted on December 26th 2003. It's a very TVXQ sound, they indeed have a lot of songs with some experimental production.
They are the OGs of OGs who started kpop as it is so, as you realized most boygroups can be traced back to them in style or concept.
They actually started as 5 members then 3 left in 2009.
They have a Killing Voice! They don't sing all their title tracks there (obviously or it would be 1+ hour long) but it's a good overview of what they have done over the years. If you are into RnB Before U Go (as a duo), Wrong Number (as 5). Their most famous song by far is Mirotic, the one that was in the recommendations (they were still 5), it is a kpop anthem. Another one is Rising Sun (as 5), if you like songs that sound like 10 different songs crammed together you'll probably enjoy it a lot. Something and Spellbound (both duo) lean heavily into big band and jazz beats. Truth (duo) has a very Jamiroquai vibe.
They didn't release any group songs in Korea since 2018 which may be why they haven't been under your radar, but they have been busy with solo releases and they are also very active in Japan:
U-know Yunho (deeper voice): Follow, Thank U (the music video takes from HK/Chinese mafia movies and Kill Bill, it's great), Eeny Meeny, Vuja De
Changmin (high notes): Chocolate, Maniac (MV based on Hitchcock movies), Devil (gospel inspired song)
Oh and the first high note in Down was Yunho not Changmin! But it's hard to understand from the MV so even many fans didn't realize at first!!

They just celebrated their 20th anniversary, went through a tumultuous career, with 3 members leaving.
    Their legendary status remains untouchable.
Gods of the East is such a fitting title for them.👑👑

They debuted as a 5-member group, and then the other 3 members parted ways in 2010. They have officially become a duo since 2011.
Please react to their Killing Voice and you'll get a 'summary' of their discography.

Through the years, for us long time fans, one of the things we love about them is their versatility. They don't have one style per se. They've always tried different things, and are able to deliver those new sounds so well and still stay loyal to the TVXQ sound. The TVXQ sound is hard to describe and can only be really understood if you explore their discography. One way to approach it is to watch their Killing Voice.
Thank you for the reaction! ❤️
    Proud Cassie since 2009

As a Latina, I have been their fan since I was 13 and I'm now 29 and I can tell you I HAVE BEEN LOYAL. I even have 2 tattoos of their Japanese song titles. I'm glad newer KPOP fans are listening to his song.

They are known as ‘Dong Bang Shin Ki’ in the K-pop world. They are also known as ‘Tohoshinki’ in Japan. Their Japanese songs are totally different. A lot of beautiful ballads. 💕

TVXQ's "Down" is their pre-release track and "Rebel" is their lead track from their 9th full-length Korean album, 20&2 -- 20 years and still 2 members strong -- which is a celebration of their 20th anniversary on Dec. 26.
If you think this MV was good, you should check out their 2023 MAMA performance where they showcased "Down" even before the MV was released. You'll be able to hear Changmin hit those high notes live. They also had an epic collaboration stage with SM's newest boy group RIIZE, where they performed TVXQ's iconic song "Rising Sun."
You also need to see them perform "Rebel" with the choreography live. You think it looks crazy in the MV, but they actually do most of that all live as well.
And you definitely need to check out their Killing Voice performance. Killing Voice was pretty much made for SM vocalists and Changmin and U-Know are one of the best examples of that.
TVXQ truly are all-time legends in the music industry. As an SM Entertainment group, it's no surprise that they are outstanding vocalists. TVXQ was originally supposed to be a purely acapella group, so they all have amazing vocals. They actually have several acapella performances in their early days that really showcase how amazing they were as vocalists. TVXQ is one of the reasons why SM is known as a vocal powerhouse and why the company has come to be known for having some of the best dancers and vocalists in the industry.
Here is some background to help you understand the dynamics of TVXQ better. TVXQ (English and Chinese)/DBSK (Korean)/ Tohoshinki (Japanese), which each are the abbreviations/acronyms of the words in each language that translates to mean "Rising Gods of the East," debuted in 2003 as a 5 member group. But, in 2010 three of their members left SM Entertainment and the group and formed a new group called JYJ -- the initials of the members: Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejoong. (Up until recently, JYJ was still a group and they still produced music, but because they left SM Entertainment -- one of the most powerful and influential companies in the industry -- on less than ideal terms, it has made it more difficult for them to promote themselves and their music. So the members of JYJ are more known as actors and producers than they are as singers now.)
However, Max/Changmin and U-Know/Yunho continued as TVXQ as a duo. They've been a duo for longer then they ever were a 5 member group. As you can see, even now as a duo they are so talented that they have the vocal range to cover all the parts of a song between the two of them, including rap.
Changmin (the youngest member) was 15 and U-Know was 17 years old when they debuted. Therefore, although they are one of the senior Kpop groups, Changmin is only 35 and U-Know is 37. TVXQ is SM's most senior group that is still active, but U-Know and Changmin are still younger than, or the same age as, many of the members of the legendary groups who came after them within their generation. They are best friends with Super Junior and they pretty much all grew up together. Changmin is also best friends with Minho from SHINee. And Xiumin from EXO says Changmin was one of the reason why he auditioned for SM because he wanted to meet Changmin and become like him.
As you heard, Changmin is known for his powerful high notes -- even more powerful than Onew or Jonghyun from SHINee or Chen and Baekhyun from EXO -- he literally has one of the widest note ranges of almost any Kpop artist. In a high note battle he always wins.
It wouldn't be a TVXQ/Changmin song if we didn't get to hear at least one unbelievable high note from him. (Fun fact: Changmin got married in 2020 and he became a father to a boy last year.)
U-Know is known for his dancing and his passion for dancing and singing. He is also the rapper of the group. (U-Know truly loves what he does and doesn't hide it. He will tell you he is proud of his accomplishments and he is proud of his work. His off-the-charts passion and intensity is kind of a running joke within the industry. It's one of the things he is most known for.)
Tohoshinki (TVXQ) are one of the most famous singers in Japan as well, even among Japanese artists. Over the years, I think they have probably spent more time promoting and touring in Japan than they have in Korea, so they are megastars in Japan. And like SHINee and BoA, etc., they are so popular in Japan that they are considered part of the mainstream music scene and they are fluent in Japanese. TVXQ has one of the biggest worldwide fan bases and they sell out some of the largest concert venues in the world. They are one of SM Entertainment's top selling groups, easily selling out concert tours around the world.
TVXQ's fandom is Cassiopeia and their fan color is pearl red -- which is why you see one of the primary colors in most of TVXQ's MVs is red -- and when you attend a TVXQ concert you will see an ocean of red. Welcome to the Cassiopeia fandom. (Their fandom is named after the 5-starred constellation, Cassiopeia, because they originally were 5 members who were supposed to be gods who came from the stars.) If you like TVXQ then you are a Cassi. (In Japan their fans are called BigEast because Tohoshinki are Gods of the East and they have one of the largest fandoms.)

Please react to TCXQ's MV Spellbound! DBSK or TVXQ once a group of five members, now consisting of two, Changmin and Yunho aks U-know. Sadly, three of the members left SM. They formed the group JYJ, members Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu. The original group of five members were extremely popular. JYJ hasn't made music together in a long time. You should check out their older MV's "Backseat", :Get Out" and "Ayy Girl" featuring Kanye West. Both Junsu and Jaejoong also have solo projects.
