I just want to clarify something since some people might be confused. Even as a Cambodian, not all of us like to eat bugs. Yes, it tastes cripsy and has flavors, but not everyone enjoys eating it. And it is not our daily foods or snacks. You can say it is an occasionally or a rare snack like if you are drinking once in a while it tastes good with beer.

As a tarantula owner all I can say is there have been no recorded human deaths from a tarantula. If any it's from an infection of the tissue from mechanical damage of the fangs and not having access to proper cleaning sources. So you're more than good to get bit by one lol you may get sick for a week but these Tarantulas im assuming the Cambodian tiger Tarantula (forgot science man name) have potentially potent venom but will only make you sick for a few days not anything medically significant unless you have the one in a billion chance of being allergic to it. Love all your videos tho man and it's good to see such a healthy population of these Tarantulas in the wild!!! Even if they are used as food lmao

so if you have any pre existing conditions it can trigger those and kill you as well, can also cause a heart attack in people who are dehydrated which.... I mean in that area I'd imagine plenty of people hunting tarantulas to eat are low on water too
there are a few species of tarantula that can cause seizures with their venom though, depending on the situation again that can take you out too
but yea like 90% of tarantula species bites are just like a really fucked up wasp sting

They don't attack you, brother. Unless you stick your fingers in their nest, there is 0 chance they are crawling out of their burrow to bite you. But landmine and unexploded ammunition is a real threat in Cambodia. I think we are the 2nd most bomb county while Laos out neighbors is the 1st. The death and injury from landmines in Cambodia is closer to 15 people per year in the last 5-10 years. It used to be a lot higher even in the early 2000s.

I caught tarantulas with my squadmates when i was in training. its actually pretty easy. Just a small shovel and a stick and you get a feast. During the evenings when we're supposed to plant and take care of the vegetables when usually have extra time to go look for them, or for wild fruits.
