Excellent poem. What a terrific mind, in the depth of the soul.

@@andrewquintanawrites thank you. It was a labour of love. There is a version up of this with accompanying soundscape. here ruclips.net/video/nQczupMTBSo/видео.html [which may or not be your cup of tea]. best wishes.

@@crazydogaudio Yes I'd seen that one but couldn't comment on it (comments are turned off) so I commented on this instead. I actually think the soundscape is a fantastic addition and elevates it.

What happened to "I celebrate myself and sing myself"? That's how the poem starts in all my Leaves of Grass

The opening of 1855, original version of the poem, the one Whitman first published: 'I celebrate myself and what I assume you shall assume...' You can find it at whitmanarchive.org/criticism/current/pdf/anc.01063.pdf He tweaked and reworked the poem pretty much his whole life. I prefer the original as it's Whitman as a relatively young age, setting out on his career as a poet.

This is good, however , the soundscape mix was like a new kind of art , i enjoyed it much more .

Thanks!! I did this remix because a couple people asked to hear it without the soundscapes. The soundscape version is still on youtube.

I prefer the death bed edition, but I like the tight verve of the original as well
