    Billy and Michael are so very talented with their restoration work. I was totally blown away by the work done on the roof. How on Earth did he ever learn to install such a beautiful roof. The technique was awesome. I’m not sure the Château will ever be finished since nunnery. There is only so much work a person can do. Wishing your family the best! Thanks for letting us share your awesome home and interesting lives.

    Anna is such a ray of sunshine everywhere she goes. For her the glass isn’t just half full … it is completely full.. she is always so encouraging and always provides positive reinforcement. There was never any doubt the the chateau is huge but this vlog has made us aware of its labyrinthine nature. How do they remember what they stored where?

      @rowenacountryman2242 3 года назад +1

      I’m wondering if I missed something recently about the chateau. Every one seems to be talking like the Petherick family’s not doing weddings anymore.? Sadie said the one basement area was eventually turned into a bar but then she kinda mumbled something like that “was” the idea but now something has changed? Billy and family say they are moving permanently to the guest house? Sadie kept referring to never being able to do what they really want to do? Food they get in trouble about their business? Are they switching to volunteer’s for a bit because of lack of funds? I hope not bcuz I could give them so many ideas for making money 💴 AND have people pay to help rebuild the whole chateau. They have such a wide variety of people now interested in vacations there and the other chateau’s. I could really see them doing a week long event or month where people spend a certain amount and travel between the closer chateau with each one doing custom events like one with artists, one to teach how to make homemade wine or sangrias, one dress up in the past and live exactly like it was in the 1700’s. So many ideas that all of their local friends could help. Sean doing a copper class Alexander giving a sewing class. The neighbors show their dairy farm. It doesn’t have to be just chateau but everyone. They could start a trend for a way that normal people who would never be able to afford a vacation abroad but a budget vaccay while volunteering to restore castles, chateau, mansion, old churches, anything that could help bring travelers and money to the region.

    It seems that there are good reasons why so many amazingly beautiful chateaus have been abandoned. They are so huge and require many people to maintain and clean them. There are no longer people who are willing to be house servants.The chateaus are located in remote areas and have few attractions to draw people to stay in them. They are absolute money pits because of the state of decline they have fallen into. It is really valiant of the people who buy them and who attempt to restore them, but they are truly antiques whose time has passed.

    Anna, you are so positive and kind and warm to everyone. You always see the potential and the positive side of everything. That is a great gift to the world. One thing I realized in your tour is that Basmaignee doesn't have as many rooms as Lagorce, but the rooms they have are enormous. The kitchen, for instance, is the size of a decent ballroom. I am sure the original owners were aiming to impress others! (About caned chairs -- that kind of caning is not very difficult. The honeycomb woven material should be available in rolls, and learning to tack it in just takes some practice.)

    The tour was so exciting!! What magnificence !! I am trying to iagine hwo lived in this chateau and in all the chateax in France? what kind of people and where did they get their wealth to completely occupy and furnish and live in such a grand style. They must have been ancient tiled aristocrts. and in an age where there was no central heating or plumbing. Imagine the army of servants it took to carry hot water up several flights of stairs each morning to the residents , empty chamber pots, and or to fill and then empty a bath for a lady.and to build the fires and keep them going and cook ad serve the meals. It boggles the mind.I have read quite a lot about the history of conditions that led up to the Revolution. The accounts of jefferson and Franklin as they obseved the conditons in the country and in the Roayl court. It was a feudal society and peasants lived in poverty, a family rearely had meat to eat more than once a year. Ironically the government of France, to spite the traditional enemy, England, went bankrupt by financially supporting the American Revolution. It is a wonder any of the grand chateaux survived the uprising of the peasants iduring the French Revolution. Historians explain that the bread shortages in Paris were actually contrived and manipulated through propaganda by political forces with the goal of bringing about unrest and uprisings against the Aristocracy, and sparked the March of the Paris Market Women, the fishwives, on Versailles, to demand bread. it is wonderful to watch you young people rescue and restore these treasures and bring us a glimpse into the past Glories of France and French culture. Thank You💕🌹.from 🇺🇸

    Losing 25-40% of your heat out the windows to the basement to be Kitchen closing that and areas not in use could retain heat and avoid frozen pipes. No rodent places the doors should be left a little open to allow for air circulation and less moisture to them. WOW! 3-4 months per room could maybe net a return before the Olympics. Airport nearby, golfing, French culture, loft in a Chateau, B and B, Apprenticeships available toward Construction degree- register with local educational job center and more. Interesting and very inspiring.
