- Mississippi State and Vanderbilt played in the 2021 College World Series Championship Game. Aces Will Bednar and Kumar Rocker battled it out for the 2021 title, as the Bulldogs looked for their first National Championship in school history (in any sport), while the Commodores looked to repeat as National Champions.

I have a combined 4 years of experience as a Baseball & Basketball Play by Play announcer, which is where I learned my skills for commentary/breakdowns.

Being a NC State, my pain has slightly healed from the NCAAs scrutiny. I was so happy to see Mississippi State win it. From one State team to another congrats Mississippi State!

I heard about that, and wasn't happy about it, not one bit. NC State had worked TOO HARD to get to Omaha and all of a sudden its stripped from them because of Covid protocol.

Not a fan of Vandy but their errors were hard to watch. Mississippi State played exemplary team ball. Great defense and great hitting. Bednar is a beast for that performance on 3 days rest.

I remember watching when Tanner Allen was a Freshman and Jake Mangum became the All-Time hits leader. They always had a great team but seem to fall short every year. As an LSU fan I was pulling for State to finally win a CWS Title. You have been there many times and been close before and it was due and well deserved. Congratulations.

MSU played their best and Vandy played their worst. I love Vandy but im disappointed and sad. But its always cool to see a team win their first chip.

Mississippi State baseball is finally known as a Championship baseball team! This is well deserved after many good baseball teams. They have always recruited great and now they will have the opportunity to bring even better players to build a program. A National Championship is a big deal for a Team that has been very good the past 3 years. This is gonna be great to hear them say we have the chance to repeat next year! Hail State!
As an LSU fan, I have always liked Mississippi State and the way they play baseball. And every time I watch this Mississippi State still wins! As a native Mississippian I am very proud of the way they play… Lots of class. Props indeed!

As a Canadian who grew up playing baseball over hockey, I pray that someday we grow the game to the point we get into the sport like our neighbours down south. That Bednar kid is who I hope my Jays pick if he is still around. In hockey we have a saying, a prospect might have the tools but lacks a toolbox and that's what Kumar reminds me of, lots of skill but doesn't think the game well.

Thank you for these videos. I live overseas and am not able to watch the games live. I'm a 40+ year MSST fan. I grew up 35 miles from StarkVegas.
As a devout Bulldawg fan since 1964, I really thought NC State would have taken the whole party home had it not been for Covid. This was a bittersweet win for Mississippi State.

I just spent the last hour or so watching highlights of the CWS from this summer and as a MSU fan I can't help but still get goosebumps. A fantastic performance all around. Dominate at times. Controlled games at times. Clutch hitting when needed. Pitching was amazing most of the time. And NO ERRORS the entire CWS. THAT is freaking impressive.
Hats off to Miss. St. and especially their pitchers Bednar and Sims.

Appreciate the shout-out. State not getting there wasn't Vanderbilt's fault though so I do take issue with people making Vandy out to be the villains in all this. At the end of the day, what happened to NC State was disheartening but that's on the NCAA, not on Vandy.

Yeah the ump was calling those strikes all day and three later in the game I think in the 6th? Maybe 7th there pitcher threw right down the middle for strike three with one out and then got the guy stealing at 2nd but was called a ball then next batter kellem clark went yard

Can’t believe we did it. In general it is not always easy being a state fan lol… but when you finally get a taste of victory is makes it taste that much sweeter
the most noticeable thing for me during the cws was the huge gap in quality in umpires from college and pro ball. MLB umps miss calls from time to time but it seems like every college game there are 4-5 pretty egregious misses. Really interesting.

It’s the NCAA. I watched almost every Miss State game this year, and I can tell you the umps gets worse in the CWS. It happens every year. During conference play there are bad calls every now and then, but once the NCAA tournament starts it’s like they only let you ump if you’re incompetent.

And Texas was the team I was most worried about as MSU advanced. They were damn good! We beat them twice and they were scrapping till the end. Glad we took the series and beat Vandy for the title but your Longhorns did their program proud.
@@themaxster7798 With no disrespect towards Virginia, the Dawgs two toughest opponents were Notre Dame and Texas. If State hadn't eliminated those two, either could have won the natty!
@@markduett1532 I don't disagree with your synopsis. Notre Dame won the ACC title and NC State was in their division (Atlantic, I believe) and beat NC State in their regular season series. That's why I tell everyone I'm sure we would have bested NC State.
