I live in Thailand. Good time to come as it will be cooler. Only 23 degrees C this morning at 7am. There shouldn't be any rain as cool season has just kicked in. Be careful on the main roads, particularly at dawn and dusk. There have been many accidents with cyclists. Doubt you'll see any tigers. Maybe some elephants but definitely buffaloes which can get spooked by bikes. Give them a wide berth. There's a huge road cycling community here, so you'll probably see quite a few group rides as you journey. Good people happy to help. Regarding water, unless you're like me who rides in the middle of nowhere near jungles, there will plenty of shops that have water. Bear in mind, many shops you see along the way will look like houses. Just ask. There will also be a plethora of 7-11s which will have everything you need as well as tactical air-con stops to cool down from the midday heat.
Can I give you a big thanks James! I binge watched a rook of your bike fit videos, and tried to adjust accordingly. And today went on little 20 mile ride. Ive never felt so comfy. I know cant use avg speed as a metric, but over a familiar 10 mile stretch I was up about 2 miles an hour quicker!! So got to cafe in time for a full english! 😂
Can’t wait to watch! I’ve taken my bike to Thailand a couple times and love it there. Heading back in January for 2 months to make a loop from Thailand/Cambodia/Vietnam/Laos/Thailand, can’t wait to get back!
Awesome! Be safe. Road traffic in Thailand is next level loco. Watch out for the motorbikes traveling against the flow of traffic along the shoulders - particularly on divided highways.
Hi James! Hope you're having a wonderful time with Thai tigers! With the knowledge I got from your videos my bike is much more stable, have more comfort and I feel faster! Thanks for all the work!
This is going to be good! The Vietnam trip was good, so we all have high expectations for this one! No pressure, of course 😉 Can't Wait to see it! Thank you guys for the high quality content! No other channels can bring these adventures in this real life format like You, Francis Cade, and Lawrence Carpenter. God bless, and all the best to you 3
Big fan of the full size Leatherman, people just don't understand how useful pliers are in the middle of nowhere. I am so looking forward to this video series. Good to see the three amigos (read Stooges lovingly) back together again
Hej James! May I make a video request? I would be really interested on how you would approach fitting a gravel bike in comparison to a road bike. In what way would you change the fit one might have gotten for their road bike when switching to a gravel/adventure/long-distance bike? Just stack and reach? Thank you so much, really enjoy your videos!
Heyo, we've been on the road cycling for 8 months and are cycling through Thailand for over a month now. You wont need the water filtration system here, there is cheap bottled water literally everywhere and filtering water from streams is not gonna be necessary - probably would still make you sick or taste horrible at least 😂
Getting chilly oop north now early mornings and evenings. Pleasant daytime temps, warmer the further south you go. Deep south ie near the Malaysian border is flooded and yes, torrential rain. But you aint going that far. Good luck !
Once u get south of Pitsanalok its mainly flat, drivers can be nuts. Thailand is more advanced than the UK, plenty of food and 7-11 shops everywhere. the road south to Phuket is dangerous and Phuket is bonkers busy and over crowded now. Get a 5G sim at the airport and u will have unlimited internet better than any wifi. Food will be amazing and people friendly, lots of cycling communities - Ride Chiang Mai and Muscali in BKK etc. Ride the skylane at the airport if u have time
The _bottle cage_ bluetooth speaker is genius. I'm really looking forward to following yet another adventure. Hoping you'll all stay safe, but still do stupid stuff. (#safebet).
never thought of that honestly, I've always used a JBL with a carabiner attached to my handlebar bag so it's easy to reach and skip tunes from the speaker instead of the phone, but I'll remember this solution when I'm in the market for a new speaker :D
Bro I think you may have over pack, Thailand is a pro-cycling nation. You'll be fine and people in Thailand are very helpful Looking forward from the bunch and their antics 😂
The Camelpak podium chill bottles are rubbish at keeping liquid hot or cold. Virtually no benefit over standard podium. The Podium stainless bottles though… brilliant.
Couldn’t disagree more, we freeze our bottles and they definitely stay frozen longer, the metal ones are ridiculously expensive and the bloody leak everywhere because of the stupid straw situ - you like what you like
@ never had the stainless ones leak. Google James Huang insulated bottle test, where he put very cold water in various bottles and put them outside in sun, checking water temps regularly. Podium Stainless barely gained temp, podium chill water temp rose rapidly. Stainless podiums are pricy though, I agree.
If you have an 11 speed grx you can have everything from all worlds because it will fit a Shimano SLX CS-M7000 11-40T kassette to a 2x 48/31T Crankset my homie.
even more, you can create an absolute climbing monster setup with CUES nowadays :D the 2x 40/26T crankset + 11-45T cassette is absurd, but hey... it works!
@@KNURKonesur well.... ofc you can go lower. what i was getting at is total range with the focus being enough dakka on the topend to go fast and also to not make it an 11T cog grinder. Ultegra 50/34 was also reported to work with 11-40T kassettes. I cant wait for my grx 12 speed 48/31 to have an 11-40T too. currently there is only ones that are handcarved out of tungsten carbide judging by the price...
Advise: Instead of a flashlight/torch it's much better to have a headlamp because you have both hands free and the light is exactly where it should be: in front of you. And you can also use it for riding the bike at night. Furthermore: Too much black stuff. Gets very hot in the sun (especially helmets). It's less visible for car drivers. It's boring (my opinion).

Agreed. Pretty sure you can do that whole trip with charging the battery once halfway. Especially if you are so concerned about battery usage and thus you wired the 12sp shifters to the battery.
Fucking hell I had YT on 1.5 speed and for the first few seconds just thought James has gained another level of enthusiasm
😂😂
Best random comment ever
For some weird coincidence, the same happened to me ahahah
I play it at 0.75. It takes the edge off.
You know youre balling outta control when you wear a 3k watch to go bikepacking
Dive instructor, bike fitter....bramble picker, baby sitter......never travelled on a bike like you blokes do, have a great trip.
Incredible, man!! Thanks so, so much for the shout!!!
Any time!

Like Andy said, they should be more worried about Isuzu pick ups than tigers.
Safe travels.
project usa might be one of my favorite groups of cycling related videos can’t wait for this series
Enjoy the trip James, the bike is looking great
Thanks for all your help!
Love the bremont watch ❤

Love the bike. This series will probably solidify my choice of getting one of these bikes.
Seriously looking forward to this! You haven't done a trip with the boys for a while
Wicked foreshadowing here with your bike having the speed wobbles!!
Have a great time, can’t wait to follow your journey x
Love the Moots and Bremont - brilliant choices mate. Rest of the kit looks really solid. Best of luck - cheers!

I Enjoyed the video about your bike. Do you still have your Autum? I loved that bike on the usa trip and would love to know more about it.
The Tre' Amigos return !
Cant wait to see this unfold, but please be nice to Lawrence 😂
He’s already gone and lost something valuable so no, I will not be nice to Lawrence
Never swear on You tube but this is fuckin amazing dude.. Such a beautiful bike
oh! You've made my perfect bike. Jealous. Sounds like you're buzzing, looking forward to vids
Well enjoy Thailand James, sehow long before dad mode is engaged.
WOW!!!!!!!!
+1 for carrying a spare mech hanger. Think of it as a fuse that protects your expensive dérailleur.
Just snagged a pair of those shoes myself (not with thai flags of course). Were on sale to boot.
Can’t wait

Damn that Moots 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is like a Top Gear adventure on bikes.
Well you won’t be fat by the end of it! Have a blast :)
Wouldn't a G Shock watch be a better choice , say a Rangeman or Mudman version ....accurate and bomb proof !!
But it runs on batteries! What if I get caught on a desert island?
02:50 Dengue is caused by mosquito bites so bring some insect repellent. The dust cover is still a good idea.
"Oh! Mech hanger..." 9:22
Something, in hindsight, someone should have reminded Francis about before he last left the UK!
That’s a lot of stuff!
Note: my Topeak tire leavers that come with the ratchet set snapped the first time I used them. I replaced them with Park Tools version.
I brought both
Chain lube?

Hey BFJames why didnt you go for Sram Wide groupset? Im curious
What's the Deda bar being used? Can't quite pick it... zero 2?
Gravel100
So are you both doing videos? Or are you letting Francis handle that task.
Phuket and Bangcock?
Just need the Johnnie Walker! 👌🏼
1:35 Get another battery, charge it while the other one is on the derailleur :)
how many times did James say... because of Lawrence !!
James is like the dad carrying all the improtant things, the other two lads are too lazy or didnt think about lol
Go gettem MotherFer ! Stay safe, have fun and kick arse !
Add an 11-40 cassette asap.
Reminder to CHECK Lawrence’s cleats before setting off!! Have a great time and stay safe!
No mudguards?
Nah!

I must say James, you have impecable taste in watches. Please teel me you are not taking a bulky smartwatch instead of a proper adventure watch 😅
Lol, 2 minutes after I post my coment comes the glorious answer 😂
What size?
Custom, but close to a 52cm
In 2-3 years James will be full alan partridge
Bring on the swearing 😅😂 we should rename you Q the man with the gadgets.
Enjoy the trip ya mad bastard ya.... Tell Laurence to stock up on croissants. 😂🇮🇪
😘
Most watching this will have the same total mass weight, only the other way round.
you wont be fat after schlepping across thailand!
Should have gone to India and got food poisoning, if weight loss is the goal 😆
JBL loud speaker surrounded by RUclipsrs.. thats gonna go well 😅
James, you don't get dengue from drinking dirty water 😂
If James is fat then all hope is lost, lol. Can't wait to see your adventures!
yeah a different world where being 5kg heavier than athletes renders you fat... what should people over 100kg say then? :D
You will find more and better food options everywhere in Thailand compared to Vietnam

A 10kg bike for long dist touring! Yes. The cracked frame in Cody Wyoming is overrated as far as fun is concerned. You need beefy.
It's not the tigers or rain you should be careful around, it's the lady boys
