  • Birth and postpartum doulas... do we need to be certified? Are YOU?? Why did you choose your organization and what standards do they hold you to? Would you do it all over again??
Are you looking for a doula right now and don't know how to vet them or figure out what their qualifications are??
I want to hear from you in the comments below!

From my experience at bedside in acute care no certification is of importance. If it’s something like CCRN or other national certification all it can do is give you a little extra bucks in your paycheck. Outside of that it’s mostly so the hospitals can say I have this many certified nurses in critical care/ ER etc… and they are expensive. Ironically, as in MSN in education, that is less important in the hospital and you don’t get paid extra which I think it’s kind of silly. I feel certifications, are more important when you decide that you want to move out of hospital facilities and acute care to your own practice because it shows that you put in the work. But in order to practice like say holistic nursing, I don’t need a holistic nursing certification, because in nursing we’re supposed to be practicing holism, that’s the whole science of Nursing .

My state is being regulated by the nursing board with doulas. I don’t even want to finish my certification now because it’s all about money not supporting these mothers. I’ve been working for years as a birth worker. Thank you so much for this video
