    I'm actually super impressed with this video. Directions to the place, excellent commentary on the recommended menu items and a (convenient) shout out to the Japanese vegan community. The production format of this video is great for travellers, I hope you keep it up!
    Coming from American culture, I was amazed at the server's menu knowledge. I don't think I've ever seen a server talk about their menu for so long and different combinations of recommendations depending on tastes.

    Please continue this series of eating out in Japan? I went to Japan in early 2015 and really struggled to find vegan/vegetarian food. I think this could be greatly helpful to tourists.
    Have you tried T's TanTan in Tokyo station?

    This was really nice to see! I thought it really might be quite hard to find a completely vegan restaurant in a city (or country) that is so famous for Sushi... I would definetly go and eat at this place if I ever came to Tokyo! The waitress was so nice explaining the whole menu. I love your videos! Looking forward for the next one!

    This will be very helpful for those traveling and living in Japan. We use the app, Happy Cow which is so helpful even here in the states. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are not a trend but an increasing lifestyle choice for people around the world so I hope Kanji is able to persuade owners of eaters of this. Japan has a rich history of vegetarian and vegan dishes that should be explored more often by natives and visitors alike. Thank you for you hard work.

    Thank you so much for this video. I lived in Tokyo as a student for 6 months but had a difficult time finding vegetarian and/or vegan food. I made most of my food at home, but I wanted to enjoy what Japan had to offer. I really appreciate and love Peaceful Kitchen because it is quite inspiring. I will be living in Fukuoka soon and will try my best to look for vegan places there. Thank you!

    I laughed when the waitress divided the menu up according to men's and women's preferences. You'd NEVER get away with that here! Personally, I wouldn't have known where to begin ordering from--it all looked wonderful. Thanks for posting : )

      Why You No Like? Please explain.

    • @tamcon72
      @tamcon72 8 лет назад +1

      Why You No Like? You are using all kinds of signal words that further obscure your meaning. I am asking why you question why I find segregation of a menu according to what a female patron supposedly wants and a male patron supposedly wants archaic, which is why it wouldn't be done here in the States: Assigning gender value to food would be seen as outdated and silly.

    • @tamcon72

    • @Indielollita
      @Indielollita 8 лет назад +3

      yeah, I'm from japan and they love to sell products to the targeted gender. The ads are like "wear this to become even more manly" "use this service to become more feminine". As a Japanese living overseas, it makes me smh when I see those type of commercials but for japanese people its completely normal.

    I only know a little about Japanese culture, so it is very weird to me that the waitress would denote certain meals as something women order more or something he might prefer as a man. Is that a common thing when thinking about food, as if there's and real difference between what men or women would prefer to order? You could say that typically burgers are a "manly" meal in the west, but no waitress would suggest it in reference to gender if someone asked about the menu items.

      Also, do you know what the status of veganism in Japan is right now? I would love to know since I'm a vegan in America who is looking to move to Japan one day. I think it would be a great idea if you made a video on veganism in Japan and whether it is on the rise(as I know that in the USA people are growing more accepting to it), how open people are to it, how easy/hard it is to find other vegan/vegetarian people, and your own tips. It could even be a video series as I know you have been living this lifestyle for 8 years now! I think many foreign viewers watching your videos have the same questions on their minds as well. Any who, ありがとう for your awesome videos!

    I was looking through your old videos to see if you talked about restaurants in Tokyo. I'm happy to find this video! I've been to that restaurant before (it's only 5min from my work) and had their curry plate. It was quite nice. I felt it was a little bit expensive tho, but I understand vegan food is hard to find so it's "chotto oshare". :)
    If you have a chance I recommend "MEU NOTA" in Koenji. I love that cafe even though I'm not a vegan person. They have great seasonal vegetables and their plates are beautiful and colorful.

    I went to the AIN SOPH. in Ikebukuro. When I got there it was 3 pm and it was closed until dinner time which was 5 pm. So I waited at a cafe nearby until a few minutes before 5 pm. People were waiting in line already and once I got in, I found out that you need to make an appointment first to eat there. That really sucked =(...
    So if you are planning to go there I want to let you know that you need a reservation (at least the one at Ikebukuro)

    Hey there, do most of the Japanese people know what vegan is? For example if I go to a none vegan pizza place and order a cheeseless pizza and explain to them that I'm vegan will most of them understand? I'm asking this because where I'm from don't understand what vegan is and I have to explain. Not to mention there isnt a proper translation for it in my native language. xD

    • @peacefulcuisine
      @peacefulcuisine  8 лет назад +11

      +Spacey Kay I think Most Japanese don't know what vegan is. It is easier to understand for them to say that you have an allergy to dairy products and also you don't eat meat, fish and egg. When I'm lazy to explain about vegan, I simply tell them that I have an allergy to animal products but not a serious allergy :)
