I was on statin medicine for two years,
The only thing that caused the medicine in me was high in glucose. Stanins cause more damage than they can help.
Total 308 cholesterol levels never dropped. The triglycerios a total of 280 never dropped.
My changes were after I started consuming Citrus Bergamot one capsule in the morning, fish oil three times a day.
    three Kyolic aged Garlic,
three capsules of red yeast rice.
    now total 185 cholesterol
    triglycerides 80
    mi A1C -Low from 5.6 - to 5.1
    Those are my experience

    • @PrevMedHealth

Excellent point at the end. The distinction between drugs and supplements is legal, not medical. An extract purified to a single compound is essentially a non-FDA approved drug. An extract that has a collection of compounds is a non-approved dirty drug. Taking something like this long term might improve your health, or it might worsen your health. You are paying a supplement company for the privilege of self-experimentation. That might make sense if you have terminal or uncontrollable illness, but probably not if you're just an average person who wants to improve your health.

A correction to your data interpretation... box-&-whisker plots present data grouped into quartiles, not standard deviations. The two boxes in a box-&-whisker plot contain the middle 50% of the data centered on the *median* value of the data set. The percentage of data found between -1 sigma and +1 sigma is 68% of the data and is centered on the *mean average*. Assuming there are no significant outliers, the median and the mean should be about the same so your conclusions overall are probably fine, but your interpretation is a bit off. I teach statistics for a living and wanted to make sure people are aware that the stats presented weren't quite as presented. Overall, I'm a big fan and use what you present as I manage my health challenges. Thanks for all that you do!

Metformin "safe"? Is untreated raging IBS safe? I know it isn't very pleasant. My GP complains that I need to be taking more Metformin than my current dosage of 500mg/day. Unfortunately I'm one of those IBS afflicted for whom Metformin amplifies IBS to intolerable levels. I can barely tolerate 500mg, anything above that is out of the question. The Metformin IBS side effect is well known, but despite that there seems to be no widely accepted alternative to Metformin. This news about Earl Grey is wonderful as it's my favorite tea. I'm sure I wasn't drinking enough of it though to make a perceptible health benefit.

Bergamot sounds like a town the Allies and Germans fought over in WW2.

Do you think it's safe to take along with Red Rice Yeast if not taking a statin?

Robin Rae I was against statins and my cardiologist told me to take Red Rice Yeast instead, along with CoQ10, Bergamot, Aloe Vera and fish oil.
I didn’t take the fish oil (blood thinning) as I make a concoction of turmeric, ginger, garlic, cinnamon, cayene pepper, black pepper, lemon and honey with water. This tonic works as a natural blood thinner and has immense anti inflammatory properties.

Statins interfere with the mevalonate pathway - this pathway produces not only cholesterol, but steroid hormones, isoprenoids, cq 10, Vit K, etc. 30, 000 molecules are interfered with. Let's take some and hope for the best!

Dear doctor, statins may be causing your insulin resistance, then, you should take Metformin as well, ...but, wait, it has been recalled!!!!

Bergamot is a fruit...if anyone is harmed by the oil,it most likely isnt the fruit but something added to the oil by man in processing. I swear Doctors ,Scientist, etc aggravate my common sense ;-)

Theyre still trying to stop symptoms instead of finding the main problem. Thats a Doctors way! It must be ingrained...lol I'm glad I didnt go to college to be a Doctor...The lack of common sense would have just made me quit...lol
