  • One of the most common pinning positions that almost every tough guy has in their toolbox is the scarf hold AKA kesa gatame, head and arm, scarf hold, etc. It's a pinning technique/position used in all styles of grappling. Although very common, many people couldn't escape this position if their lives depended on it. So in this video I break it down and show the easiest escape that also puts you right into position to apply a Kimura or Juji Gatame arm-bar on your opponent.
This is what makes jiu jitsu and grappling so fun. Learning how to get out of various positions makes you feel like a magician, especially when you do it to those who have very little knowledge of jiu jitsu. Enjoy!
