As someone who was alive back then, it was rough being a KISS fan, especially after the movie came out. The mockery we received the next day at school was brutal. A KISS cartoon by Hanna-Barbera would have made it even worse. Someone actually spray painted KISS SUCKS on my mother's car.
I'm glad somebody brought it up. I was wondering about that, too, back in the day. They had EVERYTHING else out there. Having said this, I much prefer the early days of KISS when they were menacing and goth. The capes really robbed them of any credibility.
I reviewed the first Marvel issue and I think the first couple issues of Phantom Obsession. I do own quite a bit of Kiss comics including the Kiss Kompendium omnibus.

Great video. I think, like you said, a cartoon would have been welcomed around 1978. The concept….KISS fights crime…solves mysteries, etc. Saturday mornings…I would have watched religiously.
A cartoon would have been a terrible move for the band. The albums released in the 70's (except Criss' solo record) have some of the best fun & testosterone boosting life ever - of course I'm the male of the species.. but it would boost your confidence w/the ladies, etc. I still listened to it this day - nothing compares to the bombast of KISS. I have a wide variety of musical tastes but KISS will always remain at the top of my list - and to state my age - 55. Also, I luv Music from the Elder especially when you listen to the songs in order of play which were intended vice PG screwing that up when initially released.

(During the KISS heyday years) Although I don't "love" the new "KISS-LIGHT" lineup, 50% of KISS is better than no KISS. Your channel is FAR SUPERIOR to 80% of the RUclips KISS fan-channels but it doesn't reflect it in your "numbers", and it baffles me! I got into the music business mostly because of that band and I didn't dream in my wildest dreams that I would not only meet them, but work with them! (Long story for another time). I too would have LOVED a Saturday morning KISS cartoon! Even though I was in 15 in 1979 and already playing my own original songs in a band where the next youngest guy was 24! Lol. @Sean I think KISS should agree to be in a full animated film BUT.... it would be story which appeals to kids and adults. It would have a mix of Dungeons and Dragons, Lord of the Rings and the best comic book events. In other words, it would be everything Simmons and co love. Warriors, magic and quests ie Knights of the round table. IMAGINE dark and fantastical animated story with lots of KISS references, and influenced by the best of what inspired Simmons and Stanley to create KISS in the first place. Everything the Elder could've been if they'd approached it with thought and planning. Gene Simmons wearing a knight's armour version of his classic KISS stage gear? With the right attitude and people behind it? It would be a hit with fans and non fans. David

This question doesn't really pertain to this Video but I've wanted to ask you this for years ; Bruce Kulick was with KISS for a very long time , so why wasn't he picked to stay in the Band and wear Ace's makeup instead of Tommy ? I had enough trouble on the school bus every day with my KISS t shirt from all the "followers" who didn't know their music, but would join the "they're just a gimmick in makeup " crowd. A Saturday morning cartoon would have made my daily rides more difficult than they already were. Side note:. All the bands the mainstream kids and the critics liked were gone not long after graduation!!!!!!! I win lol!!
I'm kinda glad there wasn't one. Late 70's US animation was terrible lol. It would have been quickly thrown together, badly written and cheaply made...kids would probably have loved it. Maybe now, with their retirement surely getting closer, would be a good time for one. Animated Elder movie, anyone?

It looked very similar to the Marvel KISS comic images, but they had on their Dynasty outfits. I don't know if it was real or fan made, but it looked awesome. I also think around that time (with the band's popularity dropping and Peter leaving), the cartoon might have only lasted for one season.
I would have definitely watched a KISS cartoon. Heck! I watched The Jackson 5, The Partridge Family, The Beatles, The Osmonds and the Harlem Globetrotters cartoons back in the 1970's.

The Kiss Scooby Doo movie is great. We watched with the kids this Halloween and it was a blast.

I think that The animation company Filmation could have done a wonderful job by creating KISS cartoon during the 70s.
