Love all those beautiful quilts. These quilts are breathtaking. I wish I had that kind of talent.Thank you for taking us on the tour with you. The quill jewelry also is beautiful. ❤️
Thank you for taking us on this quilt show with you! I live in the states just under 7 hours from Jenny Doan and Missouri Star Quilt Co. Have passed near there twice and was not able to make the stop! Yet you’re literally thousands of miles away and got to see her! Amazing! What a blessing! Thanks again for sharing! ❤️
It was always my dream to meet Jenny Doan, I live in the UK, so I didn’t think I’d ever happen but when I saw she was coming to this festival, I booked a ticket for her trunk show. She was incredible, and I got a photo with her at the end, I’d love to have access to MSCQ within a few hours of driving, like you do, we don’t have anything like this here
Wonderful coverage of the FOQ. Good quality. This was the third video I've watched of FOQ, and it gave me a chance to think about how it might inspire me. It resonated with me when you talked about how the show is the end of the year and the beginning of the next at the same time. I was struck by the curved work. How to break up all those HST! So maybe I'll attempt that this year.
Thank you for sharing your experience at Festival of Quilts! I am very inspired right now! And you will enjoy Jennifer Chiavarini; her books are fun to read.
I haven’t read the book you have but I love the “Elm Creek Quilt” series, and feel sure you will too. It’s about a group of quilters who runs retreat in Pennsylvania, their sewing, cooking and life. Really enjoyed visiting FOQ with you, I can’t cope with the crowds, thank you.
@@laurelb8372 Another Aussie here, thank you for a gentle walk around the show. You. Camera work was great. Also thanks for showing us the winners, they were all fabulous. What talent abounds in our quilting community. ❤️😊🇦🇺
Great video, I was in your first class and loved it :) I went straight from class to Ashmead and bought lots 😊 Thanks for a great video, a brilliant class and for making us all feel so welcome in your sewing world
Hi Emma, my favourite quilt has to be the one that was recycled vintage textiles. Over the years I have collected doilies and vintage linen given to me by neighbours and foraging in op shops (over here we call charity shops opportunity shops) and I have collected them and used them in various projects. I absolutely love working with the vintage linen. Another of my stitching friends gifted me a linen tablecloth that needs to be embroidered as it is stamped with a gorgeous rose design so that has to be my next project. I am thinking of doing it in wool and a mixture of embroidery cotton. Thanks for sharing the quilt tour show with us.
Thank you for walk around, interesting. 12am at the moment I'm all fired up to start something new 😂The vintage quilt is special, beautiful use of old fabrics and long arm. 🌷
Hi Emma, I visited on Saturday and it was the first time I've ever been and you captured the feeling of being there exactly. It was also lovely to see so many Italian and Spanish ladies there with husband's in tow! All the quilts were so absolutely stunning.
I had a great time in your workshop on Saturday. I’m going to use my hexagon flower in my granddaughters quilt - I just need to hurry up and make the quilt before she is born in October. The festival was amazing so thank you for sharing 😊
Beautiful quilts some very talented people about. Wish I was one if them , well done to all that made the lovely work Emma has shown to us. There are some outstanding designs amongst them. Thank you Emma for sharing the days with us as well.
I used to go every year to the Quit Show but haven’t been since lockdown. So nice to have a guided tour Emma. The standard of workmanship always amazes me. There are so many talented quilters out there. Every piece on show is an absolute work of art. Tku for taking the time to film for us. 😊
Lovely, inspirational quilts, I have just repurposed a duvet set my mum bought and loved over 25 years ago, I couldn’t part with it when mum passed over 10 years ago, and have kept it, but now I have made a double quilt using it, and I just did a simple block with sashing and point on point blocks, and quilt as you go. I was nervous cutting it, but now it’s a heirloom quilt, for my grandchildren, with a part of me and their great grandmother. I can’t believe I made it, and have shocked myself with how beautiful it is to me. These skills I have learnt recently from wonderful you tubers to help. So thank you all for sharing .
It was lovely to meet you in the workshop on Sunday, I really enjoyed myself. It was made even more special by Mary Ann I love my lanyard from Alaska and will be taking it to work with me tomorrow. I am going to have to look into the cards they look fascinating. ❤❤
Absolutely gorgeous quilts!! I know the quilt shows I’ve attended have inspired my creativity. What a generous and unique gift you received from the quilter from Alaska Beautiful items. Thank you for sharing 😊
I was really wowed by the quilt show. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! There were so many that I just gasped in wonderment at. Great job filming 🎉🎉🎉
Hi! It's been quite awhile since I have seen you I'm sorry. I absolutely enjoyed the quilt show. You are very lucky to have been there. I am so happy to see how you and your business has grown. I promise to watch more often. I have been keeping very busy quilting as well. I'm doing Traditional, Epp and Fpp quilting and having a blast. Til next time...happy quilting 🧵🪡
Emma, thank you for the fabulous walk around! I made the early morning trip from Belfast as this show was on my ‘bucket list’ and it was absolutely the best show I have ever attended. Definitely I will go again and maybe stay overnight 😁 so many quilters have unbounded talent and way beyond my brain power but we can all enjoy their quilts and maybe push ourselves a little more! I loved to see the Alaska inspired fabric and your class sounded excellent. I feel you definitely need more than 1 day to do classes and see the show! Another thing is you can get introduced to new people who you haven’t heard of before. I did see people who I recognised from youtube but didn’t feel I could chat to them and I am not a shy person 😂 they are celebrities after all 😊 I am 61 and have wanted a long arm quilting machine all my life but only now can I afford one. While I am still working but our mortgage is paid I have that income to pay. I just hope I now can enjoy a good few years learning to use and enjoy it! If you were close to me you could use it too. I hope I can let others use and enjoy it! I am looking forward to watching a lot more episodes from you and getting inspired xx
Thank you for watching Alison, glad you enjoyed coming to the show, you are right, you need more than a day really to do everything on offer. How generous that you would let people use your long arm too, that’s so lovely. It’s probably good I’m not near you as I’d be round every day!🤣 I had a lot of fun testing one out and can see I could get absolutely hooked on it!
Thank You for taking us with you to the quilt show, Emma! There were so many stunning quilts! And, all those vendors - I would need a loan from the bank, if I went shopping there!!😂😂😂 You did a great job vidio taping the event, & I really enjoyed it!👏👏👏
Thank you for sharing your video. I went on Thursday with a friend and didn’t get much time to look at all the beautiful quilts (too much shopping!), so would like to go for two days next year. I was fortunate to have a photo with Jenny Doan, such a lovely lady! I’ve only just found your channel so will look out for you next year! ❤x
Thank you for this inspiring video! I love the idea to reuse vintage fabrics to make something beautiful. I'm begginer and i don't have a big budget for EPP. I always looking second hand fabrics or ask people for scrap cotton.
I am a quilting fan who works at Missouri Star Quilt Company, starring Jenny Doan. I am so happy that you were able to meet her! I hope to see you in Missouri one day…or anywhere in the USA. I am a huge fan of your work and videos! You have inspired me to embellish my works with beautiful embroidery 😊. Thank you for that and for the videos of the Quilt Festival!
Elm Creek Quilts is a series of 22 books. They were published from 1999 - present. The earlier ones can be difficult to find. I'm working my way through the series now & am on the 10th book. There are also companion books (I think there are 8) that have some of the quilt patterns from the books in them. They're all great reads, if you can find them!
I have read Jennifer's book, a few years ago. Each story has a different quilt tied to it; instructions included. In the USA, I use my local library card on the free app, on my phone: Libby. I just input that local current Library card #, then, I can "borrow " any of the books, all ages ^ topics, magazines (.most X-STITCH & Quilting. Magazines are from the UK) and even can borrow newly added books on the Fast Track section...borrow for 7 dats... can return anytime within the deadlines you set, 14 or 21 days and can renew also. No fees, and easy to select the font size, white or beige "paper" background...I find it very adaptable to filters you select: topics, available now, on hold, not yet purchased where you can be notified if/when available. Your VLOG was very inspiring to me, too. Many Thanks, Emma! 🪡🧵🪡🧵
Thanks for this video, Emma, as I didn’t get to go this year. Some amazing quilts. The Elm Creek novels are a set of about 14, I think, and I’ve read them all. The first is The Quilters Apprentice, but Jennifer Chiaverini’s website lists them in order of publication. Think they’re all available from that well known international on line store 😊. Love your new studio
Thank you Emma for another chance to see more from the Festival of Quilts. It was so nice to see you and say hello on Sunday, next year I'm going to try for 2 days to allow for attending workshops. Can't wait to see what new projects you begin. 🧵🪡
Hi Emma Wow! The festival of quilts is amazing thank you for sharing. You must read all of Jennifer Chiaverini, Elm Creek Quilters. I read them many years ago and enjoyed them all. Take care and looking forward to your next video.💞💐
I agree Emma, it’s like a sewing harvest festival, and we go home with our new projects ready to snuggle down in the colder weather. I will defenetly be at the front of the queue for your classes next year. Lv Dianne. ❤❤❤
Thanks so much for taking us along! I'm thinking about going next year. Since moving to Greece from California, the one thing I miss is access to quilting shops and events! P.S. You look so pretty in the pink sweater- fab colour for you! 👍
Hi Emma, I’m just watching your video from the quilt show, I’m in the middle of reading An Elm Creek Quilts book Sampler it’s her first three novels I would say I’m three quarters of the way through and loving it. I think you would love it too. I have the next three books that follow this. It will take me a while as I’m not a big reader. X
Good morning Emma, the quilt show looks absolutely fabulous, I really wish I could join you!! I love all the fabrics on display, I would not know where to start Emma viewingthem all!! I love all the treasures you have received/purchased, the vintage selvage fabric pieces is a great idea for making a crazy quilt fabric book. I will check if the quilt shop I go to carries strips of selvage fabric pieces. Thank you Emma for sharing your lovely time at the quilt show. Emma, where abouts was the quilt show, love to know the place/area. Thank you and I do hope you and families are doing well. Look forward to watch your next video. Thelma ❤
Hey Emma , thank u for taking us along to the quit show with you . I saw so many things I would like . But I'm have to finish my epp christmas tree and I started a album epp quilt . I took 2 inch hexies covered them with white and got people to sign them . Now I'm using scrapes that I have but also going to go to thrift shops to pick up material , wat ever I find . Should be lots of fun . Thanks again ,take care .
Oh Emma, I was so jealous that Mary Ann got to meet you and I didn't... we are besties here in Talkeetna Alaska and we watch all your videos and then discuss them... you and Kate introduced me to EPP and I'm obsessed with it! Love all you do!! Wished I could have met you as well but will have to see you thru Mary Ann's eyes... I look forward to many more videos from you... Cheers!
Thank you, for sharing this. I enjoyed each and every quilt you showcased. The fabric that you were gifted are mostly batiks. Batiks have changed so much, I see more and more that almost look like they applied the technique over the top of printed fabric, but they are made with what is called a chop. look up the RUclips channel called the Fabric Patch, they have a video of when they took a tour of the Hoffman batik factory, for lack of a better word. Thank you again. I also was very interested in the light and I will certainly be checking out the link. Have a beautiful day. I also believe the fabric with the bear face and the paws on the rust colored fabric is the Alaskan Kodiak bear. Tracy Boise Idaho USA
Emma-You definitely need to read the Elm Creek Quilters series by Jennifer Chiaverini. Start with the first one-The Quilter’s Apprentice. Your library may carry them. There are several in the series.
A quilt show really energizes us! Super you went to Jennys talk! Quilts at the Festival seemed of professional quality. Are they just from the UK or other countries? Ive always wondered what you would come up with with different fabric lines! ❤ Outside your comfort zone? 🤗 You got the Moose right👍. I have read several Jennifer Chiverinie books.
The upcycling, recycling comment is close to what I am currently doing also. Today, I finished up a 50x60 quilt that I used pillowcases, sheets, and a shirt I cut up.
If you haven’t read the elm creek quilt Series I highly recommend it. I listened to them on audible while I was selling and working around the house and it was great fun.Thank you so much for showing us the quilt show
Thanks for sharing your visit to this quilt show. It's amazing. Much bigger than ones able to be held here in New Zealand so a real feast for the eyes 😊 Is it held in the city where you are based too? Not sure I would know where to start for making purchase choices with so much to choose from 😍
so glad you enjoyed it. I don't live in a city, I live in the countryside, it's held in Birmingham which is about a two hour drive from where I live but we have family who live there so we can stay with them and see them too
HI Emma - thank you so much for the tour; so beautiful and talented. I do have a question... and for anyone on here who may know... at about time stamp 9:50, what type of technique is that kind of quilt? Is it applique and then very tight machine quilting? There are quite a few of them with the same technique so I just picked one. Thank you.
It looks a bit like trapunto but I’m not sure if it is or whether it just looks like that because the quilting is so dense and makes the unquilted parts seem puffier if that makes sense
I also did try a long are at the festival, it was amazing, it was just like drawing, I wish I had the money and also the space to have one. Never mind, back to forcing my 80” quilts through my sewing machine’s small throat , or hand quilting them. The price of a long arm is very off putting, my car didn’t cost that much! ( that might say a lot about my car! 😂) .I saw you teaching your class on Saturday, and judging by Jennys outfit you were at her trunk show on Saturday, same day as me, wasn’t she wonderful? What a treat, it was my first time at the festival , loved it❤

I’ve just reserved a couple at the library which I’m excited about!
Thanks for sharing the beautiful quilts enjoyed very much from southern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching
Thelma ❤
Hi Thelma, glad you enjoyed the video. The show was in Birmingham at the NEC. Thanks so much for watching
What a lovely idea! Have fun. Thanks so much for watching 🌸
I missed who had the happy owldays block quilt. It was stunning and i'd love to try it.
Cheers!
She told me all about you! How lovely to have such a special friendship! It was so lovely to meet Mary Ann, she’s a very special lady indeed 🌸
The books are fun and there are several in the Elm Creek series.
I’ve had a look and managed to reserve a couple at the library as they seem difficult to find in the uk
OMG! I made Tahoe by Laundry Quilt Basket Designs but the custom quilting on this one is spectacular!
Yes it was incredible! Well done for making it too, it’s an incredible pattern
I really love the colourful elephant one, the one with all the faces and the African animals one is fantastic 🥰
yes I love those ones too, so inspiring
Tracy Boise Idaho USA
thank you Tracy, I will definitely check that out it sounds very interesting. thanks so much for watching
Emma-You definitely need to read the Elm Creek Quilters series by Jennifer Chiaverini. Start with the first one-The Quilter’s Apprentice. Your library may carry them. There are several in the series.
Thank you Lynda I’m really keen to now! They seem hard to find but I’ve found two in my library catalogue so I’ve reserved them
Thankyou for taking us with you i am hoping to go nx year fingers crossed 🎉
I hope you can Jane, you’ll love it!
Yes the quilts were very professional indeed, they are from all over the world, anyone can enter one. Thanks so much for watching
The upcycling, recycling comment is close to what I am currently doing also. Today, I finished up a 50x60 quilt that I used pillowcases, sheets, and a shirt I cut up.
That sounds wonderful!
❤❤❤❤
If you haven’t read the elm creek quilt Series I highly recommend it. I listened to them on audible while I was selling and working around the house and it was great fun.Thank you so much for showing us the quilt show
Just picked up a couple from the library really looking forward to reading them
Thanks for sharing your visit to this quilt show.
What a treat, it was my first time at the festival , loved it❤
Wow! Absolutely stunning video, thank you for sharing ✗ ✗ ✗
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for sharing your video. I went on Thursday with a friend and didn’t get much time to look at all the beautiful quilts (too much shopping!), so would like to go for two days next year. I was fortunate to have a photo with Jenny Doan, such a lovely lady!
I’ve only just found your channel so will look out for you next year! ❤x
