But the language is being revived, hopefully our children will have to learn it throughout school soon. It's crazy to see how many ingredients aren't from New Zealand too. Corn, squash, potatoes, yams, they're all from North America. To be specific, they are crops that were developed by indigenous First Nations in what is now Canada, the US and Mexico. And then of course there is mutton and pork, as anything with 4 legs and fur isn't from New Zealand either. But that's what culture and cuisine are- change. Change with the times, change with the circumstance. As a Canadian of first nations ethnicity, it's beautiful to see the crops we cultivated, that were then stolen/adopted by Europeans, nourish another indigenous group halfway across the world. You know, if my NZ experience is anything like a normal one this dudes entire video could have been people he met on the plane ride over! Frigging awesome people! So kind and generous and trusting! I was invited to dinner by multiple families, held babies, was invited to join a great walk, my travel itinerary was developed by people passing around a map on the plane! Then we landed in Auckland and people called and made sure we were doing well as we traveled for the month in a campervan. Absolutely the best trip of my life! So many amazing beautiful people!

I spent a month in NZ and it felt like sheep were everywhere. I can't believe that they used to have way more! NZ was just as beautiful as Canada (and maybe a bit more!). We went to a traditional Maori celebration and it was amazing. Such wonderful people!
I think the Maori have a legitimate reason to be proud. Effectively shown the earliest examples of trench warfare tactics in a gunpowder era, and pretty much the only major people to force the British Empire to a military truce due to their ferociousness and fierce military resistance.

used to live on a farm with a geyser on the outskirts of rotorua and we used to put it in a maybe 6 foot deep hole near the geyser and cover it with dirt. one of the best ever things ive eaten still remember it almost 20 years on

used to live on a farm with a geyser on the outskirts of rotorua and we used to put it in a maybe 6 foot deep hole near the geyser and cover it with dirt. one of the best ever things ive eaten still remember it almost 20 years on
