It’s great to watch someone work that really knows what they are doing. I predict this channel will get a lot larger. Keep up the awesome content. 👍

true
you fixing gpu's restored my faith that skilled people still exist !
Too many to count.
Where do you live??
Wow! This is amazing. You deserve more subs. I have a 980 ti which has a short on it, I don't have the proper equipment to fix it, but seeing videos like this really makes me wish I did. Subbed!
Same here. R172 or R174. Still give video, but if you make It work, Start to do spikes in power.
@@dope5472 Better not use it to avoid causing any further damage.
love the unique content man, I hope this shows people that it is possible to fix a broken gpu at home.
That is a bad idea especially if you are just an average joe and not an expert. What you should do is to look for an equally capable repairman.
@@SeminarChauffeur If you have the proper tools and persistence - it can be done at home :P Just don't try it without tools and accept you might fuck it up 10 times before success...
@@rkan2 exactly how I learned.
You have an in-depth knowledge of these boards and it is amazing to watch your work.
Found your channel by chance and really liked it, I've been following/learning electronics repair and I liked your way of explaining it. Keep it up!
Thanks and welcome
Fantastic job and great film work!
Thanks 👍
You mentioned in one of your videos that this is not your full time job. You should probably think of switching careers and making this your full time job. You are amazing at this, and you're doing great service to the community also being a massive proponent towards right to repair. God bless you, keep up the great work 👍
I doubt that people would pay the amount required to fix issues like this. it must take a lot of time to do these kind of repairs to where it'll only really be cost effective for high end gpu repairs. and even then I'd argue that most people would opt to get another gpu instead of using an already repaired card for fear or future issues.
reason why all electronics is replaced rather then repaired is simple - new component is cheaper then paying skill electronic worker, probably engineer, to work hours or day on one card
this could only be viable if it is simple fault on highest end cards like 3090 or 4090 now
@@Mrhorribubble correct.
This does not pay well simply because I charge very little.
I have to keep this as a hobby until I grow up to Northridge fix level. How ever, he only does 10 minute repairs and that's the only way it will justify his business.
I will go broke if I do this full time.
@@northwestrepair you're better than northridge in terms of fixing gpus. Believe me. But both of you guys are awesome.
@@northwestrepair i hope you the best in life, as much entertainment you give when i watch your videos, and as much display of skills you have
I hope Linus finds you and gives much needed exposure. Watching your videos is insanely awesome
Wow thanks !
I bought a graphic card which was mined (It was a Radeon RX Vega 64) I think i'm gonna try and repair it one more time because of this channel alone. Hopefully this goes well.
Vegas are likely to have dead core.
Good luck.

Found this channel today. I must say this channel is awesome!
Glad you enjoy it!
You sir are going to smash your subscriber count with light speed and it's no surprise. Keep it going and can't wait to see more.
Love the relaxing music. This channel is going places. Amazing production quality
Bro just don't stop uploading new content man. Your videos are amazing !
I dig the background music. I like zoning out to it watching your repairs.
Subscribed. Binged everything, this channel will be big man keep up!
Thanks !
Amazing work. And professional. Keep it up, you are making a huge difference
I am amazed at the quality of the videos and how in-depth you go on the repairs. It is really entertaining to watch. We definitely need an LTT video with you as a guest, lets hope Linus sees your videos so it can actually happen. Great job keep up the good work!!!!
These board repair videos make it look so easy. Like anyone with a heat gun and some flux could do it
Awesomely done! Gratz 👏👏👏
I'm just amazed on your many skills (yes, I checked your other 2 channels). I just wonder why you're not monetizing this one, I've heard RUclips sucks now in that matter. Anyway thanks for this channel, somehow I find It therapeutic.
Excellent! Much respect for what you do!
really enjoying the content, keep it up
Great video!! Not sure why I'm so interested but I am haha. Great skills and workmanship 💯
New sub I’m digging your content.keep up the great work.
Awesome 😎
Your skills are amazing. Although I am not a technician. I enjoy watching the vcards after you repaired it. I am hoping you will be able to fix some updated cards (RTX or RX) Especially those mining rtx cards. Cheers
You are a great technician I'm glad I found your channel!!
Damn pumping up contents! Keep it up!
You have super steady hands!!
love your videos, keep up
Good stuff man
One more win for the team!
Excellent work man. In a future video, could you go over the various liquids you apply during your repairs? I know a lot of rubbing alcohol is being used for cleaning, but for the other liquids, I can never tell if it's flux or conductive glue and would really like to know.
flux, alcohol, UV curing resin.
Sometimes break cleaner.
a part of me wishes to learn this magical craft of yours. It must feel nice and gratifying to bring dead cards back to life.
Amazing work! Lovely videos.
You could make a video on what brands / builds are reliable.
I guess people would love to hear that from you.
With your experience
baby steps
I love your videos. I am learning so much. Thankyou.
Thank you
For the algo.... more people need to see how a professional turns E-waste into a working renewed component.
Subscribed and joined the discord. Great work NWR, I appreciate the videos. I'm debating if I should have an older graphics (GTX650 Ti boost 2GB) card repaired. It has served me well for many years but recently took a dump causing me to upgrade to a moderately better card. Still, it would be nice to have a backup card handy in case that happens to me again. Thanks again for the videos.
Bro your videos are AWESOME!
I'm watchmaker, and i LOVE your work, very similar. Focus, detect and correct the problem.
I have 1 old 980Ti, with the "famous" problem of R172 & R174. Only a bit toasted, not burned or exploded.
I never do anything with Electronic micosoldering but, after see you, i'm thinking give a try to Repair that old GPU.
Can you give me some "novel tips"? And sorry 4 the bad english, not muy native language :)
Literally in every video i follow same steps until i stumble upon a problem.
Start with measurements. Find short circuit.
If it isnt there, check for voltages.
If you missing voltage, you know where to focus at the very least.
@@northwestrepair Yeah that its simple, i was talking about tips for soldering! Thank you so much!
I love these videos keep it up please
Thanks! Will do!
Dude DO MORE :D
trying man, am trying.
i have a daily job and for that reason things dont get fixed quickly, let alone making a video about it when nothing ever goes according to the script
@@northwestrepair i understand for sure i wish all the best and god bless you

Thanks!
WoW. Impressive tech skills.!🙋
Thanks a lot 😊
Good Job.
Ive had old gpu, well i can say i cooked it, beacuse i havent deep cleaned it and it looked yellowish from the inside.
Its nice to see that its acualy repairable. Even tho not consistently i guess.
Now i have 1060 3gb. Ill be upgrading soon, i dont really know what to do with it guess ill sell it, or give it to cousin.
Nice job 👍👍

Now that EVGA is exiting the GPU manufacturing game, who do you think is second best? And do you think EVGA has been consistent quality-wise in the last 3 generations?
ASUS
Awesome video. More like this video.
What about the Bus Interface showing PCIe x 16 2.0? Shouldn't it be 3.0? at 11:33
high quality repair job
Hey, just found your channel by chance. Who makes the best quality cards in your opinion next to EVGA (doesn´t matter if Nvidia or AMD chip)? I am currently in the process of gathering the funds to build a new PC. I used to like MSI and my current card has worked without problems for the last 3 years, but with more recent information, I might stay away from the brand for a while.
Based on previous designs I'd say sapphire makes the best board designs. I'd even go so far as to say that they made better designs than evga sometimes. It's a damn shame they don't make nvidia cards, though based on evga's recent statements they seem to have dodged a bullet...
@@WineLad Who makes best Nivida beside EVGA since they gone then?
@@WineLad well, I dont like sapphire. They are pretty bad on the "normalised fan loudness" temperature tests compared to other board partners like MSI. So for example at 40db(a), a sapphire runs hotter than some other cards with the same gpu.
It's a hit and miss.
They may make good cooling but forget fuses. Or they put fuses but make it so huge it will crack under its own weight.
I am a massive sapphire supporter. Nearly every GPU I have gotten in the last 2 decades has been a Sapphire. I've never once had a catastrophic failure on one of their cards! Their cooling solutions are too notch and their customer support is better than Asus for sure. Well, I take that back, I had a Sapphire Nitro+ R9 390 8Gb that stopped working out of the blue while playing Batman Arkham Origins, but I think that was my fault when i used too think of thermal.pads on the Power MOSFETS and VRMS 😢. other than that. Sapphire has always been my go-to, I'm currently using a Sapphire Pulse RX 6800 XT, it's clocked at 2369MHz and doesn't read above 61°C even on high throttle games. It was even bought renewed from Amazon😅😅
really enjoy your videos, could you please make a video on how you made the riser card and power metre shown at 9:15
i plan on that
What percentage you think is your success rate on fixes? Unbelivable videos , best iw seen yet.
Depends on the card.
Vega's for example 90% dead.
@@northwestrepair Vega Means amd graphic card?
Great video, very entertaining even for someone who has zero knowledge about these stuff.
What do you think about newer generation like rtx 20 and 30 series? does evga still maintain their quality or if any other aib is getting better?. Also curious about on amd side if they got evga like quality.
you are absolutely amazing
Hi do you ever sell any of the GPU you fix? I'm enjoying your videos great job.
can you make a video about which GPU brands you recommend? That EVGA vid was really good to actually acknowledge why they made superior GPUs and ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI are very questionable
Not really. I dont have any new top of the line boards.
Now that EVGA is out of the game for nVidia GPUs, what would be your personal opinion as "the best", if not "the least awful" GPU partner?
great video! but tbh i´m pretty interested on that thermal grease accessory for application. Where i can get one? hope you see this and great videos!
Great job :)
schematics and such very helpful
great job, son!
The card whisperer 😊
Awesome ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
I love your videos, you are making great content! I have a question, you said that STRIX cards are actually pretty bad but you only showed the 1000 cards. Are the rtx 3000 STRIX cards also as bad as you say or are they doing a better job? And now that EVGA is done with GPUs what are our options?
Hi Greeting from India. Very good videos. Make video on tools you are using. Can you tell how to made power meter tool for testing GPU?
what can you say about EVGA now🤔
How did you learn to solder like that? is great work :)
With the announcement of evga no longer making gpus, what brands would you recommend moving forward?
Awesome ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
3:10 The part right beside cracks due to heat?
do you ever ultrasonic-clean your boards?...they are gunky AF
Hello, very good videos from gigabyte and asus, could you review the input sapphire pulse cards?
I have one pupse on my desk. If not like it. Simple fix impossible without sophisticated equipment.
@@northwestrepair I was asking why I want to buy a sapphire lite but I have never bought one of that brand and I wanted to know, unlike the ones you have analyzed, if it was worth it since I was surprised that these problems existed in the other 2 brands but now that you mention that you have a using I will go for one of those, thanks for the answer.
Are there any rankings about which vendors and gpu manufacturers is less problematic?
Not worried about popping caps when re moving the drmos?
How do you know what the resistances should be?
great videos
Which card brand will you recommend for 4090 when evga is no longer in game?
so i know your a big fan of evga and now that there pulling out of the GPU game
who would you say is the 2nd closest brand to them when it comes to gpu quality
Asus right now.
im just wondering... how would a card be classes as a no fix? is it just too expensive to buy all the components or just not possible to buy.
a no fix typically means 3 things
dead core
Dead memory or both.
Damaged PCB beyond repair.
where do you buy these replacement things like mosfets, memory ships and others things..?
china aliexpress ebay
May I know if this kind of extensive gpu repair worth it? I mean if you based it to the cost of repair on old gpu and then sell it, will it be profitable?
Never had a single broken card in my life. If you take care of them cleaning them and using within factory values, they lasts decades
Hi Tonny, I like to know which Brand/Model Campact Thermal Camera you were using in this video? It looks like Seek brand but it looks something different. I you don't mind, tell me it info for me. Thank you.
It is seek.
@@northwestrepair Thank you your quick response. One more asking. Is this Seek Model come with point sensor lead wire? You look tourch sensor lead to PCB, am I right to see?
Base from you've said replacing parts from donor board means not every GPU can be repaired, is that right?
Have you ever worked on the Nvidia reference GPU's? Was just wondering about your opinion on them since I'm looking to get a new card soon, and EVGA won't be in the GPU market anymore.
Sorry for my ignorance, but does every company like evga or msi etc have to develop their own board or do they get it ready from nvidia/amd and they just develop the cooling etc??
Wow. That's some good work. What do you do with these cards after you repair them?
Sell.
I have no clue what you're doing but I've watched all of your videos so when the video starts I say "Ok check your resistances. Good voltages? Useless ass backplates! Check the data lines. Oh, memory test looks good. Try a Furmark. Video game engines run well."
What app you use that give the green PASS message?
hello i live in spain, do you know some one how make this work arround here? can i send to you my gpu?. thanks.
can help me out plz,my gtx 1050ti shows the broken display effect when i install the driver.whats causing it?
Without driver works ok ?
You have a dead GPU.
@@northwestrepair no it still artifacts without driver.i think its a bad memory chip bc before i had to lower the memory clock to make it stable now it shows code 43
Where in the NW are you?
Hey man can you fix my msi lightning r9 290x good card don't want to throw it away it needs capacitors and the lower power phase is dead
Maybe I can but if you pay for shipping and parts, it's cheaper to buy used cars.
Am not even counting labor cost 😞
