I love Sade. Not normally a fan of this type of music, but she has such a good writing team and her voice is so smooth and unique. Her band is extraordinary too. I'm usually a fan of Van Halen, AC/DC, Guns & Roses, bands like that, but there's something about her that draws me in. So good.

Sade IS her writing team. She writes all of their lyrics and is in the songwriters hall of fame for it. Actually, she didn’t write all of Smooth Operator, but pretty much the rest of their catalog. The other band members have given her full credit for that.
Sade is one of best female artist in music history.......She is definitely one of my all-time favorite female artist!!! Sade is one of the pioneers of music critics call "Smooth Jazz."

I grew up a hard rock guy--Zep, Sabbath, Deep Purple, etc.--but great music is great music. Sade's music is very straight forward, but within that open space, she and her band use it to create great musical landscapes, very soulful and tasteful. She has a very calming effect. Wonderful music.
Sade is not just her, it's the whole band including her. The group with her is lead singer was named after her. Her actual name is Helen Folasade Adu. She is known professionally as Sade Adu, but the whole group or band is called Sade. Don't get me wrong, because as a matter of fact she is my favorite all-time female singer, but the whole band is phenomenal. They write together. She doesn't use tracks or studio musicians. You really should be checking them out with live videos To really get the full impact of how good they really are. I noted that you mentioned a guitar track on that first song. No that was actually the whole band together in the studio, but like I said you should check them out live so you can actually see and visualize what you hear. The group Sade is fantastic!

I saw Sade on her last tour in 2011 in Memphis. Lovers Live from the 2001 tour is one of the great live albums of all time. One of my favorite artists ever.

Every single Sade album is worth a full listen. They only have 6 studio albums spanning over 30 years. Every album is amazing technically, production wise, and sonically. Sade is a true vibe, in the best sense of the word. A real shame Lex wasn't sitting in on this one. I'm sure she would love it!
I really enjoyed that. Her voice just kind of hits different, like the perfect cup of coffee, IDK. "Pearls" was amazing. I felt like that should be the music for a solo ballerina on stage.

On a sad note I just learned that Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie passed away after a short illness she was 79 we will miss you songbird. 💔

The band Sade were on another level on their first two albums Diamond Life and Promise. Try listening to each one all the way through for the max experience. Very underrated band.

The music is just incredible. These songs make you feel actual emotions, feelings, if you will. They range from romantic to sorrow to contemplative. The music has not aged.
When she sings Hallelujah it cuts right through you.
What lovely music from a very classy lady! I love listening to her and never miss an opportunity to unwind with her music. Nick, I think you will love the "Folk Rock" style of Shawn Phillips with his "Second Contribution" album... at least give side-1 a listen. He is a 12-string virtuoso. The album was made in 1971 and in my opinion, the "Miking" of the drumset is perfect... every drum and cymbal heard clearly yet not overpowering. Too bad he could not get radio air-time enough, as he refused to conform to "under 4-minute songs".

Hi Nick, love all her albums. She is someone you also need to checkout live. Seriously good live in concert, on dvds or albums. ... You should ...with Lex...listen to the very 1st track from "Sade Lovers Live" : "Cherish The Day" . I have mentioned this track before. You hear the crowd as she walks onto the stage. Her personal musicians are top notch live ....and this 1st track ... there is NO bass guitar for a good full 2 minutes !!! ........and then ......Omg, Oooooooooooo !!!!!! yessss ! It is soooo smooth ...so deliciously good and what a start to an incredible concert. The lead guitar on Wah Wah pedal is sublime ! If you checkout any live track ...begin with that one.....& that bass through speakers is amazing. [ I did play the track on u.t video to watch and the bass was barely audible ... such a shame u.t can be so compressed with their playback ] This is a great marathon thankyou ! Byee Jim X

Sade is a band, not a singer. It's a shame they only put out an album every decade or so (their last was in 2010, Soldier Of Love). They have a new album coming out next year (and a new tour PLEASE!!) They are #1 on my concert bucket list, after missing the Soldier of Love tour, like an idiot!
