I used to do Judo too but had to stop due to health reasons. In the last two years I have got into Qi Gong, which I find really excellent for health. It is something you can do even if you are not able to do any other martial arts due to injury. I have found the book "Pain Free Joints" by Dr Yang Jwing Ming very useful. Doing Qi Gong exercises from this book daily for 7 weeks cured the arthritis in my hand which I had been dagnosed with, my hand is completely pain free now. Another book I found useful is "The Way of Qigong" by Kenneth S. Cohen. His website is qigonghealing.com in case you are interested, I think he is the real deal, he has been studying Taoist Healing and Martial Arts since the 1960s, I took part in an online seminar with him a few months ago and personally I think he has deep knowledge of Qi Gong.

@@CopperBeech777 In my experience, having done Judo as a kid and Qi Gong (and Tai Chi) later (doing nothing right now; but I should),Qi Gong and Tai Chi are at least as useful to martial arts as Stretching is good for bodybuilding and strength.
Stretching doesn't makeyou bigger nor stronger but helps in reducing the risk of injury as well as recovering from injury. So, in the long run, it ends up being very beneficial for mass/strength gains.
Qi Gong and Tai Chi are not martial arts (to my limmited understanding of it) but do help in reducing the risk of injury, recovering from injury and, in a way, they can also help in experiencing an otherwise theoretic-only understanding of biomechanics. So, in the long run, it helps with martial arts too.

That guy in white really pushing the nerve of the Judoka. Every time Judoka demonstrates a throw, he is trying to counter it another throw. However, The second counter attack also have 3rd, 4th nd 5th (or more) counter attacks. The counter attack that you made after first throw will also have a counter attack but that will be way faster, harder and brutal in return, you babbly will end up with a broken arm or leg.
Last thing you should is trying to push nerve of a mast Judoka too much. Regardless of how patient, calm and polite they might be, that patient always have an end but end so terribly.

@@shockbladezed2726 similar but not the same. Jiu Jitsu spends most of the time on the ground and submitting Judo spends most of it's time throwing. It's about 80/20 for each. Just watch a Judo competition and then watch a Jiu Jitsu competition. They're cousins and complement each other well.

Judo is jiujitsu. Its supposed to be the most effective JJ techniques and nothing extra. The first Judo school beat other JJ schools in a tournament to decide who will train police. Both have continued evolving separately for hundred years. Judo now is also a game with specific ruleset.

I wonder why the judo black belt didn't use a gable grip. I saw him do the grip we are always told not to do. It might be because it's a lax environment or maybe it's situational for him.
I edited it because it sounded rude when I didn't mean to be.

@@sonicfx5431 22:53 it's not a gable grip but palm to palm with thumb over thumb which in wrestling and bjj I've been told is wrong. I know he's a black belt and really good I'm not questioning that. I'm just wondering why he didn't do a gable grip

Wow, both guys can Chugeri on both sides - respect for their first time on a Tatami. I held 3 rankings in Junior Judo, 2 ranks at #1, was also Nationally ranked and I could only breakfall on my right side. Even I was probably a bit old to do a martial art, but there is on record a guy in his 60's who got his 1st Dan. so it so depends on 'body toughness' - it's the impacts that eventually stop you dong it.
Judo is brutal, one of the most dangerous arts.

Once I won 5 fights with Kesa Gatame and Yoko Shio gatame in a row. 30 seconds back then. Each. Last match I got Ipon'ed from standing sadly. I was good on the ground, not so much standing/throwing, sadly. You only get Judo when you experience it yourself. How much force and control goes into it, why it is so effective. Combine it with Kick Boxing and you're one Badass MF. Bobby didn't even really try at the end of that video. I saw a possible throw every second. And he's far better than I ever was.

I've seen a video of another one of these kinds of matches, they were Americans, and the judo guy was tiny. And he still won. It took a bit of time and effort though because of the bodybuilders muscle mass. Both are right, if the bodybuilder knew judo he wouldn't lose, if the judoka had more muscle mass they'd win a lot quicker.
