    Update 04/26/2023: Dart Flyscreens just today updated their website to include the Marlin windshield with updated brackets to fit the 2022+ models of the XSR900 without the need to modify the bracket to make it fit as you see here. The windshield itself is the same, only the brackets are now a direct fitment, so the “look” and functionality you see here should remain basically the same. I DO find this Dart Marlin Windscreen the most aesthetically appealing as well as functional of anything else available on the market for this bike - as of the time of this comment.

      Thanks for making this vid, I just got a '24 and because of "those that rode before me" have done the hard work and all I had to do is order. Got the small blackout shade and im lording the big one too. Just the benefit of the little Piranha is amazing. This should be a factory option, next to an exhaust pipe wire brush/polishing kit...lol

    Marlin Windshield! Finally.. thanks. That Brembo fuzzy.. Yammie Noob has one.. thought it was a Beer Cozy!! Thanks for clairifying it's function.
    How about Figuring out some reasonable priced brackets to lower the side pegs and linkage as required maybe an inch or more. Seems strange not to make them go lower when the muffler is already setting the ground clearance. Hey I'm 69 years Old, now that I quit drinking years ago, I'm reliving my H2 Days as a Teenager! Respect the Hardware, Know your Limitations, Live to tell about it.

      Yep, Marlin model windshield from Dart Flyscreens in the UK.
      I’m 59 so, like you, am getting into the older demographic of motorcyclists generally and more so for naked sport bikes and sport bikes. That said, until or unless one reaches - due to age or injury - the break point physically and/or mentally to be able to safely operate these kinds of machines, I’m a huge believer of enjoying them and life to the fullest. God willing, I still have more trips around our sun to be able to do so!
      I am also a big proponent of riding responsibly and making use of as much protective gear as is feasible and practical.
      I’m 5’8 without my riding boots and for me the foot peg position and posture are perfect with this bike, especially with the modest 1” handlebar riders I have. I’ve never looked into aftermarket alternatives for the side pegs and linkage and mine are as they came stock new. I imagine there are aftermarket options but have not looked into them.
      The stock pegs have a slight adjustment capability up or down but I don’t think is a vast difference from one to the other.
      Stay safe and have fun!

    We have some similar tastes. I'm a snowbird doing winters in Naples FL. Up north I have a '17 Triumph speed twin, with Dart windshield, battery charger plug, usb power running to my phone/mount and Cardo Passport with earbuds. And, I'm finally supposed to be getting my XSR900 for which I put a deposit on during December '21 after the MT09SP ordered the prior year was damaged in shipping with no replacement parts available (Yamaha's COVID meltdown). Good tip on the reflash-that sounds like a good thing to do. Thanks for the video.

      Appreciate the sub and the feedback. Been slow on additional vids because it’s so infernally hot and humid here now in early August in So. Florida but more is coming soon. Going up to ride Tail of the Dragon in TN and NC as well as Cherohola Skyway and Great Smoky National Park in a few weeks and will have some vid on that soon after.

    Nice Mods! I wanted one of these but there were none available when I was in the market for a naked sporty bike. Along with the rear wheel stand spools, I would get a rear axle slider to protect the spools. I low sided my bike and the spool broke off along with the bung and threads that held it in place on the swing arm.

    Thanks for sharing the video! I just wanted to mention that it's probably not a good idea to attach the swing arm stand screw while riding your bike. I've heard of some cases where riders have crashed because of the impact on the screw, which can cause the swing arm screw hole to crack, and then the whole swing arm needs to be replaced. It's definitely safer to attach the stand screw when your bike is stationary and not in use.

      Will do. Although I ordered directly on SW-Motech’s website about 2 weeks ago, the brackets were out of stock stateside and they are awaiting a production run from the factory in Germany. It might be another 2-3 weeks but I’ll definitely post a new video specifically on the bags once they are here. Will try to do and install video as part of it

    Why did Yamaha put the exhaust sensor on the bottom of the bike? The wire looks like it can snag on objects on the road.

  • @RogerMorello-d8u
    @RogerMorello-d8u Год назад

    Wow that Corbin seat would totally do it for me, as the stock seat is what slightly puts me off the bike which I am well considering buying. Also I bet it also gets rid of the slight discomfort issue of the stock seat. Do Corbin do the mod on a seat exchange basis? Looks fab buddy.

    • @raisingcane225
      @raisingcane225  Год назад +1

      Is is more comfortable than the stock seat. They don’t recover the existing seat. They make their own seat pan out of what seems to be some fiberglass composite material. If you haven’t already, take a look at the video description which has a lot of detail. I have another video up specifically comparing the Corbin to the OEM seat.
      I also like the Kelpi Customs seat - they can either send the cover and you or a local shop install it or an entire seat at greater cost. The reason I didnt get the Kelpi is it retains the existing seat which has the somewhat raised “hump” at the back. I don’t mind that at all except I use a tail bag always there and combined with the hump of the seat it just sits too tall.

    • @raisingcane225
      @raisingcane225  Год назад

    Side note, how much would you say the helite vest and that armor costs? I am looking for the ultimate safety. would you recommend that combo or something else? I am in the Northeast

    • @raisingcane225
      @raisingcane225  9 месяцев назад

      The Helite Turtle 2 vest costs about $680. Yes, it’s pricey but ai think it’s worth it. Look on RUclips for a video by FortNine on airbag vests. He looks at several and concludes this one is the best. There are Chinese airbag vests at much lower cost but I wouldn’t have too much confidence in them. The Icon Field Armor Compression shirt is about $150. There are also many jacket options out there. Since I live in So Florida and the heat is so bad, I don’t often wear my dedicated motorcycle jacket, and sometimes not even the Icon Compression shirt.
      I do always wear the Helite, helmet, gloves and boots and also always use a Leatt 3DF 5.0 Impact shorts and Icon Field Armor 3 Knee guards ($130 and $95, respectively at Revzilla) which I wear under my jeans or pants.
      Most of my gear I get at Revzilla.
      Knock on wood, 30 years riding I’ve not ever crashed or gone down on the bike. But I am a believer in wearing as much protective gear as one can afford, as often and consistently as possible.

    hello, i'd like to get some of those screen protectors for my xsr coming in soon. Do you happen to have a link?

    • @raisingcane225
      @raisingcane225  Год назад

      I got them on eBay. The seller/manufacturer is “Speedo angels”.
      The order came in a 4 pack, 2 of crystal clear and 2 of anti-glare. Each set comes with 3 screen protectors, one for the center of the gauge and one each for the lest and right. I prefer the clear versions.
      When you got to apply, first spray both the bike’s instrument panel and the screen protectors with a spray bottle with water mixed with a few drops of dishwashing soap solution. Apply the screen protectors, position where they need to be and with a credit card or unused gift card squeegee out the excess water/soap solution.
      Link to the protectors: www.ebay.com/itm/324913612773?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=mjddc2zLR42&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=kXz9bxjISm2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

    Hi, did the 20mm bar riser make a difference in sitting position? Do you recommend it for someone who want a more upright sitting position for a more relax ride? Thx

    • @raisingcane225
      @raisingcane225  Год назад +2

      For me it absolutely made a difference, it put me precisely where I needed to feel right. I’m not tall at just 5’8” and I guess have “normal” length arms, but without the riser I was just a tad leaned too far forward. With the riser and the bar itself ever so slightly brought back it has made it exactly where I need it. For someone much taller or with long arms it might not be much of a difference. It was pretty expensive for what it is but the quality is very good. There are cheap and bigger risers out there but for me they would be too big, and might also require longer clutch and brake lines - which this one did not. Hope this is of some help

    How did you use earphones whith the cardo? Are they plug and play or did you have to modify it?

    • @raisingcane225
      @raisingcane225  Год назад +1

      No modification, instead of the in-helmet speakers that Cardo supplied, I just connect a set of earbuds with a 3.5MM jack to the same output that Cardo has. The only downside is having to put in the earbuds to your ears BEFORE putting on the helmet, and being careful as you put the helmet on to not dislodge the earbuds. The earbuds I use are these:
      Linsoul KZ ZS10 Pro, 4BA+1DD 5... www.amazon.com/dp/B07VHHBV5Q?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
      But I also replaced the cable it came with with a better one:
      Linsoul TRIPOWIN C8 8-Core Silver... www.amazon.com/dp/B07SS9S4DQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
      And lastly instead of the silicone earbud tips they come with, I use these:
      Comply Sport Pro Sx-500 Memory... www.amazon.com/dp/B0716B7CTJ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

    • @raisingcane225
      @raisingcane225  Год назад +2

      I called them prior to placing the order and had the rep look at their website and the seat they show for this model and that I wanted it EXACTLY as it was in their ad for it. I just looked up my order and the specific options broken down read as follows:
      Item: Y-XSR-9-20-GL
      Description: Gunfighter & Lady, Yamaha XSR 900

      Item: WELT-YLW
      Descr: Yellow Vinyl welt #60
      Item: LOGO-SLVR
      Descr: LOGO-Light Silver Thread #372
      If you plan on ordering this I would suggest calling to make sure its as you want.
      I’m getting ready to do a separate video which I’ll upload a little more in depth and focusing on only the Corbin seat. I’ll film it close up from various angles and without the Kriega bag on it so it can be fully seen and also set it side by side with the OEM seat on a table. I might have it up in the next hour or two as I have a bit of time right now.

      Aesthetics are a subjective thing, and what is appealing to one can be unappealing to another - and vice versa.
      I can say from my experience owning this XSR900, that frequently when I am riding and park somewhere - getting gas or at a restaurant or bar, and even stopped at a light, people often make a compliment or a “thumbs up” about the bike. More so than any of my other current or prior bikes.
