Vinegar works great for cleaning deposits out. I soaked my airator and tapped all the crud out and wow my faucet puts out more water. I do have a water softener but over the years there's still a bit of deposits that collect inside parts
Thanks! Many views, mate! So many guys decided to DIY (do it yourself) and searched for this video. My mother doubted me and said that I am going to make a deluge in the kitchen but I emerged as victorious and fixed the faucet which accumulated lime with time. I cleaned the lime and now the faucet's water flow can be regulated nice and smooth. Imagine how I will have to prove myself to my future wife! Don't let the doubters get to you guys! Be men, bear it and move on. It is what makes us men - we are winners!
Well done. And good on you for having a go. It is important for men to use their hands and be able to work on and fix things. Spoil your self and go buy some tools to make it even easier next time.
Hi Emmy. Well I was talking to a man so yes I was addressing him and what he had said he just did/fixed. Only men? I have no idea why you would run to that conclusion. Watch my channel see the merch even with things saying ‘I did it’ I fixed it. Certainly not only men. Read the comments on many of my videos where ladies have had a go and fixed things. No not only men.
thanks so much. really helpful. got quoted $300 for this by a plumber!!! but it was really easy with these instructions! and i have absolutely no DIY skills
Nice demo, well explained, but some of the times you could see inside the cartridge but we could not, because of the camera angle and fingers ( I wonder whose?) were in the way. Nevertheless this vid helped me go where I had never been before.
Thanks for this. I was looking for a video to see why my kitchen sink handle was loose. I wasnt able to see a way to take the handle off but your video showed that part. Thank you.
Common reason for the grinding is that the locking nut is too tight and is pressing too hard on the cartridge. The locking nut should be tight enough to stop leaks, but avoid overtightening. I would avoid messing with the cartridge. It should last 5-6 years. Then just get a new one for a few bucks.
I tried to solve a water leak at a slightly different model. Just as in de video I opened the cartrige; cleaned everything and assembled all the componets with silcon... €3,5 costs for silicon. No water drips anymore. Thanks for the youtube
I have this exact same tap, but with a leak on the base above the spout but below the cartridge which you removed.. How do I take off the middle part of the base?
Couldn't get my mole grips onto brass nut as it was too far into chrome body. So I put body and cartridge into hot solution of cider vinegar and water for a few hours to clean out calcium deposits. Then lubricated inside cartridge with silicone containing PTFE. Leak stopped, works a treat, no need for expensive new cartridge.
Just a question. After you’ve removed the screw I can’t get the top off. Is there another way. The top moves freely up and down left to right but I can’t get it off.
Thanks very much for an informative videos. Could you advise please if the Allen key is a standard size that I can buy from the warehouse? regards, Henry
Hi. This video shows you all the steps to replace your cartridge. Just replace the cartridge once you are inside. See the links in the description for some purchase options. There are lots of different cartridges so you do need to buy exactly the right one. MRT
cynic150 I am a swimming pool service tech. So I get it from swimming pool sources we use it to lubricate o’rings. Hardware stores will also have silicone based lubricants as should plumbing supply shops
Removed the grub screw with Allen key but the tap head seems still stuck on the shaft, I've already damaged the plastic bit. Tried spraying with wd40 but still stuck fast..... Any advice please?
Hi Craig. Do you have calcium? White deposits around the handle? If so spray some vinegar there to soften and release it. Otherwise as long as you are sure the grub screw is out then it may just need a tap to release it?

Hi Mark
My hats off to your excellent educational video on servicing the mixer cartridge instead of spending £9
Nice demo, well explained, but some of the times you could see inside the cartridge but we could not, because of the camera angle and fingers ( I wonder whose?) were in the way. Nevertheless this vid helped me go where I had never been before.
Exactement mon problème, merci pour ton explication. Je vais pouvoir m'en sortir grâce à toi.👍👍👍
Informative video - thanks! Do you have the part number for the cartridge or even the brand name of the faucet?
Thanks for this. I was looking for a video to see why my kitchen sink handle was loose. I wasnt able to see a way to take the handle off but your video showed that part. Thank you.

Can I use Vaseline for the lube thanks Mike
Vaseline stretches o’rings so no. It can also flavor the water. I have put a link in the description for the right stuff to use. Good grade, etc MRT

Hi, would it work with WD-40 Specialist High Performance Silicone Lubricant, or do I have to use grease?
It will work but won’t last
WD40 isn't rated safe for use with potable/drinking water.
Not able to open the nut to access the cartridge
Thank you I've fixed my leaking tap

Anyone know what’s the size on the Allen key ?
They are not all the same size. Best to buy a small set.
Can you just buy a new cartridge and replace it yourself? And, if so, do you have a video of this? thanks in advance.

Hi J Have a look at this video. ruclips.net/video/T3ja_B5xktQ/видео.html do that first then change the cartridge with the tap base nice and firm.

philip jacob It isn't a standard size Allen key. It also isn't always an Allen key. You will have to have a look at what is on your tap. Good luck.
Nice
merci bravo
The tap itself is not properly fixed, it should be fixed firmly by the screws underneath before you fix the mixer on top.
how to open the bottom ring of the mixer taps

I only hope for your sake, that the long term effects on your family, of ingesting all of that silicone grease, is not too serious.
