Don’t have to pick a best. This might be a hot take in the Genshin community, but as a bow main I love them both 😎
Lyney is like Ganyu and Hu Tao combined where he has both CA and front-loaded dmg via his skill that is fully buffed with his stacking passive. Because it is not optimal to use Ganyu’s burst in melt teams, she loses out on a 20% cryo dmg bonus while Lyney fully utilized his kit in his rotation. Their playstyle is totally different as well. 90% of ganyu’s dmg comes from CA dmg while Lyney gets most of his damage from his skill. Lyney is not a pyro Ganyu. They’re not the same, which will give you different results.
One smol correction, you can use Ganyu burst in sunfire melt teams. It gives more DMG but harder to play
Something people should keep in mind is that lyney's damage is NOT gonna be better with melt.
The main reason lyney is doing this much damage is because of his second ascension passive which gives him 100% damage bonus(which is basically melt since it also gives you 100% dmg bonus to your attacks or a 2x multiplier. They are the same)
Doing melt or other reactions with lyney would mean that second ascension passive is not gonna activate since it requires the enemy to have pyro aura on them. Melt requires the enemy to have cryo aura for you to trigger it. Two points I wanted to share was that
1. Lyney's damage is not better with Melt. It is just gonna be more or less the same as hitting enemy with pyro aura.
2. His second ascension passive gives him a damage bonus equivalent to a melt reaction.
Vape is 1.5x, 100dmg% is additive with other dmg%. In practice you usually have 100% dmg bonus from goblet and set and buff, so his a4 increases your dmg by 100% / (100%+100%) or 50%.
Reaction can do more dmg by switching to em sands and using em substats. But the reason why mono pyro is better is way easier vv shred and Xiangling does more dmg then other off field hydro options.

As someone who owns them both, Ganyu ST damage is a lot less than lyney but she has freeze and her kazuha burn melt is quite good.

@@lqfr8813 Lyney's burst cost is 60, so while not the lowest it is not too bad even without directly funneling into him because of the mono pyro team plus his skill gives 5 energy particles so it pretty decent. If you have a fav user you can get it very often but even without a fav user it is not too bad.

I think you could of saved a second on lyney if u charged ur 2nd shot to full or just used e after the first charged. Also your fighting the pyro version of the vishap for ganyu which has pyro resistance
Pyro Resistance and he's using Ganyu Against it, I don't think I see anything wrong, the same goes for Lyney

I know they are both strong and needs shielder for better experience but the thing I like Ganyu more is her taunt, it can be used first before doing the charge attack (enemies being taunt to flower while Ganyu is preparing her charge attack) oppose to Lyney where his taunt came after doing his charge attack which is useful for his next charge attack. But both are strong and I enjoyed playing both.

Yk, I would say that Ganyu is better than Lyney. People may say her playstyle is boring, but with a shield it's comfortable. I think that's good enough for me. I have enough fun with the lore, and my fav part abt genshin is the pulling newer characters. Ganyu I would say is much more comfortable (for me) in open world than Lyney personally is. Though, he isn't far behind. Terms of fun if you don't enjoy the same gameplay, and/or bold than me. I would recommend Lyney in terms of gameplay though.

Ganyu CA dmg is considerably higher than Lyney's since that's what her kit is based around but Lyneys entire kit put together is considerably stronger than ganyu's kit put together if that makes sense.
Yeah, everything in Lyney's kit is about doing damage or increasing his own damage first and then add external buffs from Bennett and Kazuha/VV (or Petra Zhongli which is decent too). I know people hate it because it is niche or hate the charge shot playstyle but his kit is very well designed to be excellent within his niche. Not a necessity unit nor does he add anything new due to mono pyro Klee teams already existing (though he is an upgrade but not a needed one), but he is going to do very well for those who have him and they don't need to feel like his mono pyro team is a hinderance without reactions. I have all the flexible units that I can put anywhere so I don't mind having a niche unit occasionally.
her frostflake bloom multiplier only has a 10% difference than lyneys pyrotechnic strike and the prop arrow has a 70% greater multiplier than her frostflake arrow. Her ca dmg isnt considerably higher

@@betatrix2545 it will be a lot higher since you will have more than 1 target in abyss most of time. if Lyney can hit equal damage but ST, then ganyu is doing more since it may hit more than 1 enemy. let it be 5 or 10 enemies and it will deal same numbers to all of them.

as a lyney main do note that we threw everything at the vishap while ganyu needed only charged shots to deal massive dmg
but the thing is if playing melt ganyu (currently said to be her best team dmg wise), her skill and burst are basically non existent lol. no difference ofc but its just boring

Lyney had zhonglis pillar up there so probably had tenacity procs but regardless a charge shot before burst would have cleared quicker

Since he will have 2-3 pyro team mates, and he generates a lot of particles himself, In most cases, yeah I think his energy will be full again in the next rotation
his burst (which is a 60 energy cost) is very easy to fill even without funneling directly to him do to mono pyro teammates and you can add a fav user but that is not overly necessary. His skill also generates 5 particles so that is pretty decent too. I mostly funnel energy into Xiangling with Bennett (and Lyney's skill funnels into himself usually) and still never struggle to get Lyney's burst back up.

That's great. His Burst makes a lot of damage. He is a very good DPS.
Why even bother comparing these two good dps characters? Its not like genshin is a competition on who does more dmg, is an open world game.

I would say this comparesion was unfair.
You used Ganyu against pyro primogeovishap when there is also Xiangling pyronado doing damage in the team then proceed to show her being slower by few seconds (this can be contributed to the pyro resistance and less damage from Xiangling)
Also Lyne is a frontloaded damage dealer he will do all his damage upfront then you charge the team for the next rotation meanwhile Ganyu is a consistent DPS as long as you get the timing right. If you are comparing who is faster of course frontloaded damage will do better than consistent or backloaded damage.

now try to do a second rotation, lyney will battery xiangling, but ganyu won't lol. It makes harder the artifact farming and the ER requirements for xiangling lmao.
Personally I think they're both great for their own best and I think they're great to have. For me, I do prefer Lyney's kit and design over Ganyu's. Overall, his team comp is more fun to play.

Ganyu has AOE with her charge shot (plus her burst as well) but Lyney's skill and burst are AOE and can deal pretty impressive numbers and his burst is very easy to fill up (and can be canceled to get his big final hit immediately) so you can spam it a lot so even in AOE he is not too bad. His whole kit is very damage forward.

charged is single target but burst and skill have aoe and have really high scalings. Burst has ~1000% and skill has ~580-680% scaling if you have 3-4 stacks

When Lyney does a charge shot he creates a malkin hat which can explode for secondary damage, not for every charge shot but it actually deals quite high damage for a secondary effect maybe like every second charge shot it will explode (mine is like 30K and he is not fully maxed yet) it is single target but if you have two enemies the secondary hit might target the second but no gaurantee. However his skill and burst are AOE damage (and quite good damage too) and his burst in mono pyro can be filled up quickly so you can spam it quite a lot. (His burst is long and can hit each enemy once while in hat form but the explosion at the end is also AOE and that is one big AOE hit and it can be canceled early by tapping skill so you can get that instant big hit). Lyney's whole kit is about damage.

@@makh4443 and Ganyu's burst does have some supportive capabilities. Lyney is a selfish and niche dps but comparing damage alone both are excellent but flexibility Ganyu is better (but she is not that flexible, just a little more then Lyney).
Ganyu's weapon passive probably does not trigger at such distance and considering that she finished later by milliseconds with a non-crit weapon that didn't activate passive and against a pyro geovishap that has high pyro def. Which reduced Xiangling's dmg, she probably would've beaten Lyney
Plus Ganyu has more flexibility and isn't tied to one type of element. Lyney works only in mono pyro which he can benefit Kazuha's VV and passive quite well but remains restricted to Pyro only units

Ain't gonna lie they both about the same. However, I look at some of these comments saying the test was unfair. (Literally milliseconds apart btw). Both are charged shot characters anyways, so it will be more a more boring playstyle. Most dps characters in genshin get the job done. So why complain that ganyu lost by milliseconds. It's not like she got powercrept. They performed Literally the same. A character released in liyue performed the same than one in fontaine.

I think that the character should be evaluated within the at most dmg that they can deal. The reason towards why Ganyu didn’t use her burst or skill was probably due to the fact that the melt dmg that she can deal would disappear and her charged attacks would deal less dmg overall.
Lyney on the other hand is able to utilize his ult to his advantage due to the mono-pyro team that’s established here.
Personally, I think that you can use any of the two and you will get really good results!! Ganyu can give you that juicy AoE charged attack while Lyney can give huge nuke dmg to the max!

Doing everything they can to defend Ganyu. I gotta be honest, she’s really not that good. Very inefficient and slow compared to most options.

I have ganyu and lyney, and I directly fell in love with lyney's gameplay. I've tried liking ganyu's playstyle more but bcs its rather very simple, her gameplay gets boring extremely quick. I love that lyney has more mechanics than her and the fact that hes better with more pyro teammates. His gameplay is just more interactive and not braindead, its soooo much fun. Tighnari is like in between ganyu and lyney, hes def more enganging than ganyu and i like him too

You should see the Hutao mains in other videos too so funny. I saw a video comparing Lyney, Hutao and Yoimiya all at f2p builds (though Lyney was not geared as well as the other 2 due to his set being new) and Yoimiya was the fastest in every test run (except maybe for one) and Lyney was very close and Hutao was first in one situation, but Hutao mains called Yoimiya and Lyney trash lol. While Yoimiya mains except Lyney because they have been trashed by Hutao (and Ganyu) mains since the beginning.

Yeah overall looks like Ganyu level, easier setup and less hard than melt but less AoE and versatility than Ganyu.
His best team compete with Ganyu best melt team but Ganyu can be slotted in more things (Mono, Freeze, support) while this is as far as he goes.
He has a better floor but imo Ganyu is the better unit for now.

Lyney's skill and burst are AOE and his burst can be easily spammed and animation canceled to get a big AOE hit. No saying either is better, but he does have AOE, plus his malkin hat that is created from his charge shot could potential hit a different enemy from the one his charge shot hits.
