I’ve always loved Crystal Gale…but recently I rediscovered her when I was listening to 70’s & 80’s smooth country pop. What a treasure she and other artists are especially when all we really have now is singers doing too much vocal gymnastics! This woman is sultry, sensuous and extremely talented. She’s as smooth as a 12 year old glass of Kentucky Straight Bourbon! Yum yum!

Many of Crystal's fans prefer the feeling and emotion she puts into her songs when entertaining before a live audience as opposed to the product of a sterile recording studio. Almost none of her songs have been covered by other artists because of the unique, emotion evoking style of singing she attaches to each song...but then, I may be a little prejudiced.
This song brings back memories spending time with my late uncle. He would listen to Sun Country WQAM radio station in Miami , FL. When ever we drove around he had that station on and I ended up loving country music. The 70's and 80's era is my favorite

I've loved her since I was young in the 70's and to this day she is still my favorite country singer. I used to listen to her and Juice Newton on practically infinite loop.
Every performance this woman gives is a graduate course in microphone technique! She knows how compressors can ruin a dynamic vocal performance, so she perfectly pulls the mic away mid-syllable on each 'half the way' lyric, among many other smoothly-executed VERY professional moves with the microphone to perfectly compliment her range. Watch it again and see.
@Marie Marie Compressors are pieces of electronic audio signal processing, and what they do essentially is lower the highest volume of a microphone (Crystal Gayle's in this example) and boost the lowest level to arrive at a more-consistent volume for a vocal performance-and that 'compressed' vocal can fit better at a higher finished volume in a mix with the instruments. There are trade-offs for using lots of compression and it can kill the feel of a good live show or a recording of a good vocal performance. What Crystal (and lots of other great 'old school' vocal performers) does here is accomplish the same thing by moving her mic away from her mouth when she gets loud and moving it close to her mouth when she does those amazing whispery lines.
