      Nik, thank you so much for openly speaking about this. I recently pulled myself out of a very dark place. The dark has such long arms, but we don't have to go back to them. And even if we do, it's okay, we can come back from it. You can come back from it. Reach out to someone. Please don't suffer alone and in silence the way I did for so long. If you're reading this and you're struggling, it won't always be this way. Please reach out to someone, anyone. We don't want to see you suffer. We love you. 🫶🏻

      I believe he probably has a skilled therapist who was able to guide him to this point and help him recognize the self-destructive patterns. I agree entirely with you but understand the other side too, since mental illness became a trendy thing you can't tell if it's just being used as an excuse or not and it's one of those things you for some reason aren't allowed to question at all.

      @@GoddaryuTUBE I know you mostly speak for others here but still I wanted to leave a comment that Corey's mental health has been pretty fragile for the longest time. He doesn't speak of it often, but he has mentioned his suic*de attempts in the past. And if you look at Slipknot's early lyrics... The songs that Corey wrote are so full of hate towards himself and others. If anything, he's gotten much better over the years, so it's super worrying that his mental state has worsened so much

    • @seantimmons5900
      @seantimmons5900 7 месяцев назад +5

      @@vhfgbnjnbmjnk and to piggyback, we aren't talking about a random person. If people don't know Corey does have a lifelong depression struggle, they have paid zero attention. You want to believe that Chrissy in accounting is faking it, whatever. If you think an artist wants to bail on a show, you don't know much.

    • @Ariel_thenotsolittlemermaid
      @Ariel_thenotsolittlemermaid 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@GoddaryuTUBEThe percentage of people faking having mental illnesses is much lower than you think. I don't have any numbers to pull out right now and don't want to blindly estimate, but studies have been done on that. The idea that mental illnesses are a trend that everyone's faking is little more than a moral panic that only contributes to the stigma surrounding these conditions and makes no sense- despite what it may seem like online, mental illnesses are still heavily stigmatized and lead to discrimination in employment, healthcare, and general social image. It is simply not 'worth it' to falsely claim to have amental illness with the way the world is, so not many would do it; and if anyone is that desperate for attention that they fake it, it is usually a sign that there IS an underlying issue that needs addressing.
      Also, there's a very good reason you shouldn't question people who say they're mentally ill- as frustrating as it may be to suspect someone's faking a mental illness to use it as an excuse, the damage you can do to an actually mentally ill person (and to the mental health awareness cause in general) by doubting them is far greater than what you'll gain from exposing an 'impostor'

    I have borderline personality disorder, wich means that I have insane trouble to regulate my emotions. That being said, I go in and out depression and the anxiety is almost permanent, crazy mood swings, etc. I can relate with Corey needing to have a break from all the stuff he does (beautifully may I add). In all my years of therapy and medication I needed breaks from work, from bands, from relationships, family, friends. Just like he does, I think.
    Corey is a reference for me about vocal performance, writing since I was 15. And I am both happy and concern with him getting the help he needs from family, friends. I think that this is not the first and it won't be the last time for him on this situation. But, Corey made much more than a statement about his mental heath, he shedded a light to an issue that the vast majority of us, specially men, tend to ignore.
    Bottom line, I guess all of us will be suffering throughout our existence, but we don't have to go through it alone.

Much love to this man, his family and his band. Thanks for your channel and to talk about mental health and these important things without judging. ❤❤❤❤

    REAL post Nik. VERY REAL. Mental health ain't nothin to fuck with. Shit is REAL. I, myself like to burn a pipe, have a couple drinks, and either listen to music or pick up the guitar and write some of my best shit and let it all out. Music saved my life once before, and I swear by it. Just listen or play, guys.... "be still and know" "this too shall pass" "the sun will rise".. there's always light at the end of the tunnel even if it feels like "just a freight train comin your way".... Be strong, put your armor on, listen, play, talk, chill, pull through. There's more to life than this short period of bullshit. It'll be OK, you'll come out the other side - I promise. Just keep on keeping on and find your smile again. It'll be OK, I promise you. If you need a sounding board, if you just wanna bitch about life, if you feel like you have no where to go- I'm here. Hit me up. Listen to your favorite shit. Pick up that instrument if you play one. You're gonna be fucking fine, I promise.

    I really hope the best for you and him! I've been going to therapy and taking ssri's for 2 years, and I had a bad breakdown in the beginning where my therapist wanted me to check into a facility. I've been on zoloft most of the time, but I made the decision to add wellbutrin to the mix at the suggestion of a psychiatrist, so fingers crossed that helps. I've never understood why it's so taboo to talk about mental health. Everyone needs help sometimes, and I can't imagine how difficult it is to add celebrity notoriety on top of everything. I really wish there was a way fans could let celebrities know how much we love and support them, other than the obvious, buy their shit and go to their shows.

    Been there myself. That mental break is not a happy or remotely good place to be. It's very dark, you detach from the world. Nothing matters. I just wanted to die and for everything to just go away. I wanted to just be gone as in cease to exist. I felt that this world was not meant for me. All the pain I had endured, the stress, the heartbreak, the mental anguish and torture . . . I feel all of it coming from Corey. I just wish I could give him a big hug and hold him, even though I've never met him, because I know, when I was there that was what I needed. I needed that connection and positive feeling of love from someone, anyone. I needed that to find the strength in myself to keep fighting. Shit like this can stick with you man. I feel terrible for Corey and his family. Everyone that has been riding him needs to back off, shut up and let the guy breathe or he may not be here tomorrow, and nobody wants that.

    What you said about being honest with oneself is so important!!
    In my opinion, there's nothing more dangerous than someone who suffers from depression and/or an addiction, they get help, go to therapy, work on themselves, keep going to therapy and at some point, they feel better. Everything is fine for years but then, the depression (or whatever it is that caused the initial problem) shows its face again and after doing therapy for so long, a lot of people think that they can deal with it by themselves. They think that they know enough about themselves, that now, they have the tools to fight it but unfortunately, that's when some real shit can happen!
    Good on him for recognising that there's a problem and for being brave enough to admit that he needs help to care of it!

    I think most people forget that celebrities, Rockstar, people of status are humans just like the rest of us and their mental health maybe stronger or weaker than others but it doesn't deviate from the fact that they are suffering just like the common man and that they deserve anything less. Reach out to your friends and loved ones daily they might be fighting a battle you know nothing about and you could be that defining moment that seperate them from life or death. Nik you're a real one for touching on this, people will always advocate for better mental health but never talk about it or dive into it because it's a sensitive subject, so hats off to you my man.

    3:39 it's really nice to hear him come out and talk about his issues in his problems. But when people come to him and try to talk to him just as a human being he's just shuns them. I don't care if anyone believes me or not butt some famous people they seem amazing. But I feel like we also put them up on a pedestal. For all I know he could have been having a bad month but also being someone that has had problems with mental issues no lie I mean the first time I try to take myself out was elementary school. So people that have this issue hopefully this helps. So since I can remember I always had this inner voice kind of just tell me I'm worthless I'm a loser nobody likes me I don't belong here why haven't I left. I'm trying a word this in a way that is RUclips friendly. Trust me it was extremely worse than the way I worded it. So I live like that from elementary school until my late twenties there was a few times where I tried So eventually I don't know where it came from but I was like I'm sick of this I can't take it. And I said stop so anytime I had a negative thought I would think of something positive that I might have helped someone or something positive about myself if I couldn't think of it I would just think of something positive in general. It took me 5 years to retrain my brain. And it worked I feel like a thousand pounds have been lifted off me and I don't hate myself it is so amazing. I'm hoping that this helps somebody. If I can do it I think anyone else can as well and if you do need someone to talk to and you don't have anyone to talk to I'm here to talk to

    Considering the amount of music artists we’ve lost because of mental health, I’d rather have them just cancel everything and focus on making sure they get bounce back to a better state then staying at rock bottom to the point they do something they shouldn’t. Like take Chester Bennington for example, I would not be mad if he just said I’m dropping everything and focusing on me and my well being and getting help to fight my demons. I honestly wish he did, because who knows we probably would still have him today.
