- Can you get a huge metal tone from this small desktop amplifier, the Blackstar HT-5RH MK III?
This amp was built for studio recording and fits right on your desktop, hardly taking up any space. It's perfect for small home studios like the one I'm in.
And I'm putting it to the test to see how it sounds for playing metal guitar.
You'll hear some metal with a full mix in the video intro. I also share individual tones playing different styles (thrash, holding out chords, solos, and even a 7-string tone with this amp).

Man, I have an ibanez electric and can only dream of playing it like this
Wow Jason
This may be my next amp purchase. Great explanation
Thank you, it’s a killer little amp with a big tone! But I do encourage you to also get an overdrive and noise gate pedal. It will give it a massive boot
AWESOME RIFFS and TONE Jason !! And AWESOME lead as well !! I have 6 amps now, 2 Orange crush, Fender Mustang, Gamma, Marshall , and a Blackstar !!!! They are all solid state but with my Ibanezs, multi effects digitech pedal I can still get some awesome tones as well. BTW I just got another used Ibanez axe in Trans Blue Burst !! And I love it !!!! I love your ole faithful green Ibanez AXE !!! I am going to get my first 7 string in a couple of weeks. I was like you I didn't know how well I would do on a seven string but went down to the GC a few weeks ago and played a 700 dollar killer Ibanez 7 string and I was all over it !! I took to that 7 string like a Duck to water !! Of course all I play on my electrics is Metal. I don't want to put a lot of cash in one since I have 18 axes right now and since I've had great experience out of my Jackson JS series AXES. I am going to get a Jackson KING V 7 string !! I can't wait !!! Thank you for your channel and all of your hard work !! I send as many of my guitar buddies and techs your way as I can..BTW,, I LOVED the TONE and playing you did on the killer DEAN 7 string !! Don't get rid of your 7 !!Your too good on seven to get rid of it !!MASSIVE MASSIVE TONE AND PLAYING ON THAT SEVEN DUDE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 💯💯💯💥💥💥🤘🤘🤘💯💯💯
Thank you brother, and love the arsenal of amps you have! 🤘
Crystal clear!
Yeah this amp delivers a lot of clarity!
Dope 🔥
🤘
Jason i like your playing i want to ask you for more mids you turn the ISF to the American side or the British side which one gives you more mids? thank you
The ISF British side seems to give more of an overall boost, including more punch in the low end. I like the setting to be at about 2 o'clock, towards that side
Awesome backing track is that your own or stock
Thank you 🙏🏻 That’s a song from my album Heavy Metal Workout: www.jasonstallworth.com/music/heavy-metal-workout/
hey! im a recent subscriber but a long time watcher. and i had a question about ur metal guitar apprentice course. iv been learning guitar for about 5 months now on my own using online vids and what not. now i usually just do some exercises everyday and practice or learn some songs and thats it and i feel like im not progressing but the thing is i dont know what to do. like i dont proper routine i guess u could say hence the feeling of not progressing. now iv been thinking about subbing to ur course but the thing is u already have so much free lessons on youtube( i have ur rythym and lead guitar lessons playlist bookmarked lol) what is so different about that course? would u recommend to finish ur rythym and lead guitar playlists first and than think about subbing? i dont know im just frustrated about now knowing what to do. i wish there was someone where i live who taught guitar but theres no one. i feel like learning it from online is kinda difficult as there is so much free stuff i get overwhlemed as to where to start and where to go. i keep jumping from one exercise to another and yeah... sorry for the long comment i really wanna learn to play guitar its one of my childhood dreams and i can finally do it so i seriously wanna learn it but need some guidance. idk if u will reply or even bother reading this but itll mean the world to me if someone could give me some directions, thanks!
also sorry for any bad grammar english is not my first language!
Thank you for subscribing and your grammar is fine! Yes, you can watch my free RUclips videos to learn. But my Metal Guitar Apprentice course is structure and allows you to naturally progress, implementing what you learn along the way.
@@jasonstallworth thanks for the reply means a lot! I guess I'll look into subbing after going through some of ur other tutorials! And instead of jumping from channel to channel I'll stick with urs since i love how u structure ur vids(mainly since all ur tutorials are in standard tuning haha can't be bothered to downtune) and also because I wanna learn to play metal!
But can it be hurd while my son is trying to crack a 22"HHX blasting DBLkicks? I love the sound of the IDcoreV2 we have.... I picked Up a 2x12 Palamiono combo tube amp off craigs about a decade ago, the thing gets no use because its minimum volume is too loud for practice and latenight, Yet It dosn't have the strenght to be used in a guitars and drums situation, I never want to end up in that situation with something that i'm not getting for peanuts.
This amp is practical for studio recording and practicing. Although you can connect it to a cabinet, it's 5 watts, so it's not meant to be super loud. I have a rundown of the features here: ruclips.net/video/g8qY7cH6III/видео.html
