Totally agree with you. The four of them worked as a swiss clock. They were awesome at their instruments. There have not been many bands in history in which all members play in a really creative way a fundamental and essential role in a band.
Their rhythm section was absolutely their secret weapon, while Guy and I'm were their obvious weapons. Just watch the amount of communication between Lally and Canty. They're practically glued at the hip and always making eye contact. One of the tightest rhythm sections is the last 30 years of rock.
The $15 I spent in the early 90s to see Fugazi 3 times is still the best $15 I ever spent. Beats the hell out of spending $15 for a “value meal” in 2023.
It was August 29th, 1997. They played 12 more songs that night. Time marks: 1. Birthday Pony - 0:45 2. Do You Like Me - 3:09 3. Merchandise - 5:51 4. Place Position - 8:47 5. Break - 11:34 6. Rend It - 14:00 7. Reclamation - 17:31 8. Floating Boy - 21:30 9. Long Division - 26:52
This is the greatest angle to shoot the fugazi show. I love lots of bands but fugazi is the greatest of all time to me. Just missed seeing them live for the last time on the last tour of o2. Got to see Ian and Amy one evening as the Evens. Hope to see coriky someday soon.
He came to DC recently at MLK Jr. Library with Ian. He was so nice to sign all my books. Ian and Jeff Nelson were cool and signed the Minor Threat book.
@@jasonpeng33 It was a year ago. Was really a Glen signing but Ian and Jeff were still hanging around after most left(I think they were going to go out to dinner). I was actually leaving and another guy told me Ian signed his book, so I went back. I think Ian, in a friendly way, was setting up Jeff. I think Jeff feels kinda awkward about signing things. Of course Ian was like..."Hey get Jeff to sign your book, he's right over there!" 😉
@@chadwickwright2833 the longest part of their career was the 90’s. Yes I know they started in 88. Duh. I grew up in Montgomery county, md. They are one of the greatest bands of all time. Hands down.

And to think they don't write set lists. It's all improve after the first song. Just cueing in on everyone else's movements,etc... must've seen them dozen times between 89-2001.

Awesome!! Thanks for uploaded this great video. Btw, I think it was taken probably August 1997 in Fort Reno park, Washington DC. got a hint from『Keep Your Eyes Open : The Fugazi Photographs of Glen E. Friedman』
These are just guys who served me ice cream, or lived around the corner near the 7-11, or gave me their phone number when I was booking shows at 1111-19th Street, or friends with my gf. That they became one of THE greatest rock bands of the Rock Era isn't surprising so much as we all knew them and liked their music.
Brendan's drumming is so fluid and funky. I would say he was their secret weapon... but honestly, they had 4 secret weapons.

As a DC native who grew up going to every Fugazi show, thanks for posting this and letting me relive my youth.
Best band ever.
Fucking oath. Best live band ever too. And I've seen a fucking thousand.. the Bronx were wicked live too, but fugazi is top
Guy had some funky moves and some great stage presence
love this angle---it's like being right on stage with the guys. new appreciation for the musical camaraderie and communication

Famous concert photographer Glen Freeman working his magic to the right of Ian. His Fugazi concert photography book came out a year ago. Good stuff.

I was lucky enough to see them play Fort Reno in the summer of 94. Thanks for uploading this. Brings back a lot of good memories.

My favorite period of Fugazi

I met my first girlfriend that became a serious relationship in Reno Park during one of those free shows on Thursdays back in the 80s
A melhor de todos os tempos !
If I had a time machine one of the things I would do would be to steal that bell.
Ian rocking the Soul Side shirt from the early 90s
ian wearing a graphic tee...what?!
R.I.P. Gus.
Who are the two people that gave this video a thumbs down?????
I got an idea! Fugazi but...........Chinese!!!

Glen Friedman to Ian's right
Do You Like Me. :)
glen e friedman in the right corner, taking pictures
Ian is screaming at you to act..in the crowd no response!
Saw them 3 times. They’re the reason I’ve been in 16 bands. Long live the Godfathers of Post-Hardcore!!
Any notable bands?
Ian!!!!!!!
Now that's there's something to actually stand up against where the FUCK are you?
FUGAZI OSBOURNE!
Ian's voice is annoying, I like Guy better.

Both of their voices can be annoying at times, both can be brilliant. Just gotta chill my g
there's no accounting for taste
I thought the 2 different styles were great.
Same I feel like guy tries more while Ian just scream barely audible vowels
