  • Does the MPD confuse you? Don't let it as it is a great tool for rope rescue and general use. Although the CMC Clutch has deservedly gained a huge following, this device still has plenty to offer at a cheaper price.

Out of curiosity have you thought about trying the petzl jag rescue pully system that might make it easier because its all contained

The problem using a set of fours such as the Petzl Jag is that your lifting distance is quite short, especially with the rope provided with that system. With an MPD or a Clutch you could raise indefinitely if the rope were long enough. It would just be a matter of resetting your throws.
The Jag has its place though and is a great system especially for pick-offs and the like.

Consider the CMC Clutch instead if you are willing to pay a bit more. The MPD's are still great if you can get them cheap enough (used) but a new MPD is still quite expensive and for the price I would get the Clutch because it works better.
