Those versions you speak of are NOT "uncut" they are "extended." These were prepped specifically for the Special Edition DVDs. The versions you'll find here are the original broadcast versions. The "extended" versions were mastered on tape, so cannot be upgraded to HD or 4K.

@@DaveLeeDownUnder Surely it's doable, they had to go back to scan the original negative and reassemble the episode to get to this stage anyway. They could find the extended scenes on the film too. But they don't because there's no value in it. They've decided they may as well just get the syndicatable episodes that are sold globally rather than go to all that trouble just for the disc buying crowd
Could this UHD release BE any worse? I sincerely hope this is just a joke upload for the blind people here, as I can just as easily turn on the brightness on my TV and set DNR to maximum. I, for one, want filmic transfers that look natural.
God, look at how blown out that brightness looks. Look at the lights reflecting off their foreheads and skin. Look at Phoebe's and especially Monica's coats in the first scene. It looks totally unnatural, like someone just cranked up the brightness or gamma on their TV. They really took one of the most legendary sitcoms and did this??? LOL! Looks like I can stick with the much cheaper standard Blus, which look phenomenal even without the increased resolution.

It actually does look better. I have seen Rachel and Monica's nipples go from noticeable to nearly 3Desque. This video doesn't do it justice. If you already own the blu-ray then just don't upgrade.
Such a pity 4k digital wasn't available at the time of recording the series,. it had to be done on REAL film stock, processed and edited on an old PC... Still, we don't love F.R.I.E.N.D.S any less for it and the 4k will be a welcome change. :)
If they had somehow filmed it digitally back then we’d be limited to 1080p most likely. Film offers the ability to remaster and get more resolution to a point.
I expected more… more detail. It’s not there. For example, have you seen “M*A*S*H” in HD? It’s quite good! For being an old series, they did a great job filming it.

First of all, the Blu-ray version that is already available is much better than what you're showing here in this video. Secondly, the 4K version you're showing is absolutely horrible, with an exaggerated saturation of the brightness. Seriously, have you seen the whites? They're completely blown out, with no visible details anymore. Luckily, I didn't buy this set for over €200. Watch the 4K version of Alien 1 and you’ll see what a real 4K restoration looks like.

I agree 100%. That's the case will all 4k. Dark is too dark and bright is way too bright. I still prefer 1080p over 4k.

It is a poor conversion 😊 you can see it even on the intro. Some parts of the people's foreheads are actually blinding white 😂😂😂

The original series was shot on 35mm film, which in 'digital' terms is equivalent to around 6K resoultion.
