Part 3 in our series of acoustic performances recorded 15 floors up in Ralph's flat, Old Street, London. We're having some pals round to work on a tune and record it in an afternoon.

imagine sitting out on your balcony underneath a blanket of stars, a cool edge to the late evening air, a warm cup of coffee(or other hot beverage) clutched in your hand, steam rising up into the night sky. Listening to the sounds of the city; you hear music, slightly distant but beautiful. You happily watch the sky as this song softly plays in the background, echoing off the concrete walls of the building, trailing off into the city. :) this is what i imagine when i hear this ^-^
I can't believe i forgot how beautiful this is, so glad i found it again!

Dan you have the most comforting voice. I listen to one of your songs and my headache goes away. So Im constantly listening to you sing. And there is nothing at all wrong with that. I could listen and do listen to you all day.

This reminds me of that scene in HIMYM where The Mother is singing La Vie en Rose and Ted was awed and just serenely listened to it from the other balcony. I'd like to think Ralph's neighbors are like Ted during that session.
Ralph's voice brings something really new to the song. I really like it! Needless to say, Dan was just being cute at!

This episode of the Balcony Sessions was the very first time I saw Ralph and got to know about TKAK. It was love at first listen (and sight)

Ralph has a nice balcony
That subtle and beautiful harmony in the last line is what I live for.
Great concept, great version and great view :) such a shame the other members of Bastille were'nt there though
It's so cool to see them performing together again just like they started out. The Ralph and Dan / Annie Oakley's Hanging days are back! :)

Saw both of you's the other day in Herford (Ralph I was one of the two girls who met you outside who 'didn't sound German' haha) and both To Kill a King and Bastille were amazing (seperate and combined) so thanks for making the night amazing x

I love how Dan's fingers are so awkward on the keyboard... I have the exact same problem.. Well, it's not really a problem, but I think it's sweet that even after all this time, he still has the same little habit. Again, not saying this is bad, because I do the same thing... It's just... There's only a couple of people who do that who are still really good at playing the keyboard... And I really admire him for it. It's just another way he stands out from most musicians. In a good way, of course. He's dazzling, is he not?
