I agree Louiejames626 let's see the weekly ESPN Top Rank Shows from 1980 thru 1986 when you could follow the progress of the "up and coming fighters" as they worked their way up the ladder to the major network fights on ABC, NBC, CBS and then HBO. The era when the sport of boxing gave us something to look forward to every week.
What a great boxer, he did 5 years in prison, lost his first professional fight and then went on to become one of the longest reigning middleweight champions, amazing story.
It is pretty amazing. He also lost his first title fight to Roy Jones. He talked about both those losses in an interview. About how those types of loses can ruin some fights. Losing tou first fight is a big deal to a guy who threw his entire body and soul into the sport. Lesser men would have quit and then the same applies to losing your first title fight. The thing is he started late and had no amateur career except prison fights so he was still learning and had more room to improve when he first fought Jones. I would if loved to see a catch weight fight between them around 98. It would of been amazing
B-Hop really live the “Undisputed,” Fight Night, etc., prison movie storyline. One of the best technical boxers of his era. His fundamentals were so strong, that’s why his longevity was insane.
He even learned fundamentals late in boxing also. Even in 2000 Summer, i'd see him doing things wrong in the gym. Fire a right hand and step in after it to clinch up. Wasn't fully believing in the punch.
Smh.. couldn’t even beat bum @ss Taylor Lost his first fight to a nobody Hopkins was overrated. Tito & De La Hoya were smaller He got whooped by Pascal and made racist comments that Joe Calzaghe put to rest Last fight he was knocked out of the ring Bernard was a bum. And no young fighter would want their careers to mimic Hopkins He sucks man
Top Rank still has the deepest vault in boxing media history. we need to see more footage of legends who are still alive and contributing to the sport today. think of how much footage there is of Holmes, Hearns, even Breland!
This man is maybe my favorite fighters of all time… wealth of boxing information and skills and a perfect example of a Philadelphia fighter… I was charged for a homicide at 16 and he came to the center right before I got off quarantine…. I was mad I missed him…. I was supposed to start training with frank ward after the snow got off the ground…. And I caught a shooting…. Ain’t even gonna lie… a hero to me…
@@levius3517 being a dickhead were my exact charges I believe…. But it was a shooting…. But that wasn’t my focus… My focus was the impact Bernard had on my generation. And me specifically
Bhop legendary . Best knockout of Felix " Tito " Trinidad. Great matches he had . Such a throwback fighter. Yeh he got beat who does,nt ❤ boxing Gen X rule.😮
Hopkins never amazed me back in the early 2000's ,i was more amazed on diego xhico corrales, panchito bojado and juan manuel marquez , but now i look back and notice how skillfull hopkins was and man this dude reminds me of master yoda .
My favorite fighter on fight night round 3 he just look like a villain dirty fighter though 😂💪🏿👌🏿🤌🏿💯 It’s something about the soothing background sounds of a Boxing 🥊 Gym That soothes the brain and lights that fighter in you 💪🏿💯🏆
Looking at boxrec I think he must have being getting prepared for Keith Holmes or Carl Daniels. Both southpaw fighters that he faced in early 2000s. The gym music is from around that time
Definitely think this is around 2004 most likely the Robert Allen fight as the Grant sparring gear also lines up around that timeline when they switch to the newer logo with “Grant” written underneath it. The 2001 time line the Grant logo was a circle logo before they changed it around the time Roy Jones started promoting their gear.
Even though not one of my favorite fighters his dedication to the sport is at the highest level. I wonder how old he was when he incorporated his head into his combo's.
Was in pub last night. And heard someone talking about the usyk fury rematch. You just dont hear mma fights being mentioned its no where near as big as boxing. And never will be. Thats why the moneys crap in comparison,. 90% of the fights end up on the floor grappling. Boring and mundane. And few more years non existent. All you hear on internet is people making exuses for it
I'm atheist, I don't think it's from God but I think it's an amazing point of view and really opens my eyes to so many options. Thank you for sharing this, you are doing your lords work😂🙏🏾
1 of the main reasons for hand injuries they can’t keep them open for most of the wrapping time Cutting circulation and other reasons the need for calcium and other minerals
doesn’t matter. appreciate the fact that we got to see in depth footage of the training lifestyle of a legend such as Hopkins. even the wrapping of his hands is masterful.
Bring back more old vids like this .. the sport needs the vault unlocked let’s go!!! Top rank

Hopkins was racist - I can’t believe boxing supports this bigot
Double standard in society
Absolutely agreed.
i have a few of wilder from summer 2009 workin out. a few of Paul Spadafora from Summer 2001. christy martin 2001 as well.

& oldest ranked active too i think….
He did have my blessings as well. Patted him on the shoulder on HBO just before he entered the ring to become oldest champ.

There is no other sport better than boxing.
100 percent facts!!
🏈, 🏀, MMA
Curling. Golf. Darts. Poker. Chess.
Then you clearly haven’t seen the wild world of synchronized swimming.
Figure skating
I respect Hopkins discipline with his diet and work ethic, he made the most of his time in the sport.
this footage is absolute gold. keep it coming
Sparring looked good, weren’t killing each other but still competitive and highly technical.
Bernard Hopkins, the best middle weight of his era by far. Thank you for the video Top Rank!! 🙂
Boxing is beautifull, novices bumping shoulders with hall of famers at the gym, the people's sport!
My all time favorite boxer. B-HOP!
Smh.. couldn’t even beat bum @ss Taylor

He was racist
You know this. I know this. Everyone knows this.
honored owning one of his fight worn outfits. He actually wore it in 2 middleweight title defenses.
With the late, great Bouie Fisher. Top Rank has, by far, the deepest vault in the sport.
For sure, I wish they released more SRL footage
Yep a Jew
Bouie fisher and freddies coach i forget hisname but damn were they smart
Gold..everyone in ther with B Hop, old school, all the fundamentals, working on various things in drills, everything in measure.
Sparring starts at 21:46
Top Rank still has the deepest vault in boxing media history. we need to see more footage of legends who are still alive and contributing to the sport today. think of how much footage there is of Holmes, Hearns, even Breland!
Lets see Barkley,Breland,and Curry
Must be Hagler and Mancini stuff in this Top Rank Vault 🥊
It’s so good that they don’t have it all cut up too, with nonsense music and commentary. Just the sound of them hitting the bags.
I like how he wasn’t trying to kill his sparring partner. That’s how sparring should be. BHop is a true professional.
Bhop had great fundamentals. The footwork, the jab, the right hand, the defense was just right
damn even recorded the footwork‼️
Thanks for the video, TOP RANK BOXING
We need more of that old school stuff Toprank! Love to see it.

Awesome video
Bernard es una verdadera leyenda en este hermoso deporte
If you really WATCH this film you notice just how much Bernard mastered the fundamentals.
I love this video with all my heart but there was less than 2 minutes of sparring footage!
THE BEST EVER TOP RANK IS GOLD Rare Footage B hop, do you have Floyd Mayweather JR and Oscar de la Hoya in TOP RANK VAULT Is LEGENDARY🇺🇲💯🥊™️

I just watched Makachev hug Poirier for 20 minutes. MMA sucks
This is when they really valued not leaking sparring videos, nowadays, it's not respected.. Look how many sparring kids get leaked today.
I’m not a huge fan of BH that’s my favorite era of boxing
Here we also wrap the lead hand first.
Seeing this video it must be true that Hopkins was drinking out of the fountain of youth❤
Great video, I wonder what gym he was at?
i believe in FL. He went there often and Vegas to Bones Adams gym.
Ain’t no better place to be than the boxing gym
Sparring started an hour later after Eli S was gone
sparring with cleto's on lmao bro is a menace
When was this recorded?
Last week
Had to be early 2000’s around the time of his Trinidad fight.
It's after '03-'04 as 50 Cent starts playing once he hits the mitts

I wonder how old Hopkins was at that time considering he was fit and well into his old age
I'm guessing this is before the Robert Allen fight in 04. So 39.

The only thing I like about BHop is that he’s from Philly … that’s about it
Who was he training to fight? I know it’s a southpaw
Trinidad
More SRL footage??
Besides Hopkins going to prison He was a Muslim, and had a strict diet. Along with his discipline, he fought in his 50s.
