Yeah Buddy. First time I heard him play and now I got to head out and see if he has any CDs. With his great touch he makes that piano sound wonderful. Erskine, you and Nick ought to get together and do some playing. He is very musical, making those drums sing. Put it on the channel, it would be cool. Thanks for the demo.
He's a decent player but when he freestyles, it sounds very scattered and unstructured. He's not communicating much if anything at all, like someone rambling and never getting a point across.
Nice demo. The FP90 seems to have come alive with Erskine's playing, where so many demos I've seen keep playing the same jaded standards - this sounded so much more current.
Just bought my Roland FP 90 through Sweetwater. they were great! I updated from the FP 30. I love everything about this piano except the sound. My FP 30 (which I still have) sounds so much better. I think that Roland really dropped the ball on this one. They fixed something that wasn't broken. The FP 90 sounds "tinny," synthetic, muffled, shallow. I'm hoping that this is some kind of software fix. Absent that, I will be sending the FP 90 back.
@@RA-el6zj hehe totally agree...if you love everything about something except the main function said thing is created for...i kinda think they failed . I dunno i want an acoustic piano but with my small apt that not being an option trying to decide between es8, p515 or fp90..decisions decisions.
Johnnie Edwards this looks like the exact same keybed I owned a rd 2000 and when it looked it up it says this has the PH4 action as well. I’m thinking about this board tho because it’s lighter and has built in speakers
Hi, Caleb. That is a great question! The upper and lower volume sliders will not be able to control the split point, it will just be able to control the overall volume of the layer itself. @@sweetwater I should have worded it better. Will the sliders control the individual volumes, of the 2 split parts? Say if I want the left side louder than the right, or vice versa.
I’ve owned the Roland FP7 for five years, and I just upgraded to the FP 90. I am unimpressed. The biggest disappointment is the lack of on board effects. The FP7 had a phenomenal collection of delays, reverbs and choruses that you could add to any sound. Why was this omitted from the FP 90? This is progress? The FP 90 has a very lame 10 stop “ambience“ feature that is supposed to be reverb. It can’t be separated from splits or layers, which is atrocious. The keyboard has a phenomenal pipe organ sound and a split second reverb? Was somebody not using his brain when they designed this thing? I sit and play all of the patches that I recognize from the FP7, and they don’t sound as good because I can’t manipulate them with some effects! Talk about disappointment!
First of all i aint erskine but i tried out the p225, the kawai es8 and the roland fp 90. Trust me the p225 is trash compared to the competition probably because its outdated. The es8 is good but when i compared it to the fp 90 i just went with the roland. The feel was unmatched and sound was so much richer. I have been using the fp 90 for about 3 weeks now and i couldnt be happier. Hope I helped you somehow.
You inner harmonic motion and voice leading on that string demonstration was really impressive.
I don't even play piano. I just come to hear Erskine play.

My school has that keyboard and i love it.

Hey Erskine, which one is the piano you would take on a gig between this and the ES8?
Love your review! Have you reviewed the FP-60? I'm trying to decide between the two.

Hey Ron-Did you happen to play the Yamaha p-515 in your recent investigation of keyboards? If yes, how does it match up with the fp-90?
Lol. I love everything about this new car, except the way it drives. 🤔

Amazing review, thank you!
Is it possible to know the distance between the keys and the floor using the KSC-90 stand?
Thank you so much
Enjoyed Erskine's playing.
So beautiful 😍
Awesome review!!! Could you please compare fp series and rp 102 ?
Great sounds. I'm still on the fence between this and rd 2000. Great demoing
So what did you end up buying? RD 2000 is a better stage piano I was reading and more expensive, must be better.

Im dying to see a portable keyboard about 40 keys that is not a toy.
Do the upper and lower volume sliders control the split as well as the layer, or just the layer?

Are the speaker outs balanced or unbalanced? (should I use TRS or TS cables?)
Always use TRS.

Can a adult beginner learn on this?

Sound can be very subjective. Go with your ear
Reny Bowen you still using the fp90?
@@renybowen6421 hey any idea if adding some descent external speakers would improve the sound of fp90 much?
I actually own this model , shut your lying ass up lmao , the 255 beats this crap anyday
in fact even my 155 sounds better than this
Are people going to break their backs trying to lift it?
Yes. I wouldn't let a herniated man lift it alone.
Cy Chia what about a healthy person?
@@TheTimothy8136 sure, if healthy means you're heavier than the keyboard :-)
