I have an FX-9. You can get pistol grips without the beavertail, which I did. The Bravo Company Gunfighter. You can also drop aftermarket triggers in it. They just have to be designed for 9mm/PCC. I have a Timney PCC trigger in mine.
FYI anytime that you change the AR Platform to take any other magazines than the STAG MAG you open the door for ISSUES! I have been building and shooting AR15 for over 35 years now and I have 7.62x39, 9mm, 300BO and 556 NATO caliber AR15 Rifles with different length barrels from 10,5 inches to 24 inch. I have had all sort of issues with reliability with my Colt Sporter 7.62x39 from 1996 when I bought the rifle till 2010 when C-Products released a 97% Reliable magazine. I had a similar issue when I purchased my wife her Spike Tactical 9mm AR Pistol since the weapon only likes the Colt type magazines with STEEL Followers and NOT the Plastic one. Having issues with firearms just comes with the price of ownership!
I chose fx9 because of the controls being more intuitive and ambidextrious like an ar‐ magazine, bolt release, (holds open), and safety. Ruger is attractive though.
I would have kept my FX-9 but the bolt just wouldn’t stay open on last shot and even when it was locked back a good shake of the rifle would cause it to slam shut. Even after warranty work they didn’t fix it 😢
yeah, wolverine worked on my FX9 and changed two things, i think it was the bolt and something else. It still wouldn't lock back on my Glock mags. it worked fine with the extended mag the rifle came with, but all my mags are glock oem and it drove me crazy they wouldn't work
@@rexdaledave I've had a JR Carbine in .40 S&W. The FP was soft and would peen over causing the FP to seize in the Bolt. it was also fussy with mags. JR even has a memo in the manual about mag issues and remedies. The FX's LRBHO catch was fragile and easy to bend if put it down to harshly on it's left side. That will cause it to bind and not hold the bolt back. The FP retainer also wears out quickly and needed to be replaced. I currently own two PCC's. The Kriss in 9mm is awesome, as it should be at that price. I just bought a used Ruger PPC 9mm Tactical. No problems so far. I think I like it as much (maybe more due to the price) than the Kriss.
@@icbones I’ve tried the Kriss and liked them but i settled on the Ruger with collapsible stock. It works great with any ammo and fits me best. Thanks for the info
@@rexdaledave How do you like the ruger compared to the FX9 based on the weight because everybody I talk to says it's very heavy is it really that bad because I've handled an sks and that is pretty heavy.
@@rickrick70 the ruger is noticeably heavier. I found the FX had much better (familiar) ergonomics, but for me, the bolt not locking back with Glock OEM mags was a deal breaker. It worked fine with the KGM mags it came with though
@@rickrick70 not sure how to post pics, but the handguard is NOT free floating. the barrel doesn't sit perfectly center in the handguard, and its pretty obvious its not centered. it really only touches near the action side. i was able to put my angled foregrip with m-lok without the screws touching the barrel
Damn, I cant seem to find these anywhere in Canada. Thinking of getting the reg stock ver at Cabelas but trying to hold out til I can find one of these.
Hold out if you can. This version offers the flexibility of adjustable stock and foregrip attachments like grips or proper BUIS. Plus its a free floated barrel, i don't think the original version is free floated.
I have the Ruger PC Carbine, 19115 model which is the same free float handguard... But with traditional stock. I just like the look better than adjustable style. As for magazines, I know everyone loves that it takes Glock mags but my Ruger Security 9/SR9 mags run better. There is also no play when I use them.
I find the Ruger is far more reliable. Even after Canadian Warranty work on my FX-9 the bolt would slam shut with a slight jiggle of the rifle. Very disappointing.
I really want. pc carbine. As far as the FX9 not being able to change the pistol bs. I changed mine and so did alot of other people. Mine fit a beavertail grip fine. It looks weird and feels great. Why do you try to use to take down with your left hand knowing it is designed the way you’re holding it to use with your right hand easier If you are a lefty FlipTheGun around and use your left hand
Yeah, in canada we need the longer to be considered "non-restricted". Non-Restricted means we can take it into the forest for hunting or plinking. We can't even shoot Restricted's (handguns) on our own property, regardless of how much land you a have.
And to assume all FX9 don't run glock mags because a spring got pinched on your particular fx9's bolt catch is so insane. As far as warranties ALL American - Canada warranty shit is annoying. Freedom Ordinance is a new small company. Sucks your FX9 was a lemo.
TIP: Buy two items for a folding stock.1.)Midwest Industries FOLDING BUFFER TUBE ADAPTOR 2.)LBE AR type"buffer" tube to fit the factory MAGPUL MOE stock. Now I have a FOLDING STOCK. I also added many M*CARBO internal parts except their trigger upgrade B/C I will likely buy a Franklin Armory "binary" trigger that fires with pull AND release. Those with a fast trigger finger can shoot at around 600 rounds per minute - while their finger lasts. But yeah, you 'Nadians can't buy that bad boy. FYI, I live in Nevada, a "kinda liberal" gun law state BTW, If you want the BEST trigger buy a VOLQUARTSON trigger. No fuss, just remove the entire trigger pack and insert the Volk. trigger pack. Easy, no trigger group disassembly and no springs to fiddle with. BUT... I like the RUGER factory trigger and use it FAR more than the 5.5 pound pull Franklin Armory binary trigger conversion. The binary trigger is only good for "spray and pray". It's tough to hold it on target beyond 25 yards. DO get the MCARBO extractor, bolt buffer pad and a TANDEMKROSS main spring. You will then have a lot more durability.
