The writers never gave them a chance every time Jason would go off the show to do ex projects that is when they would make it seem like they were going to get together. But the fans didn’t realize that is what was going on and than they would always have Liz go back to Lucky making Liz just look like a Bitch. They could have built a Beautiful Love story for them but they blew it there is so much history between them. Jason ALWAYS had a way of being tender with Liz like no one else in his life.
