    I remember back in OW1 people kept complaining that Moira (my main) has no utility... and yeah, that's the point. You trade utility for healing output and decent damage. Zen trades healing for utility and damage. Mercy trades damage for utility and healing. That's how it's supposed to work.
    Then we got Baptiste, who has high healing, high damage (higher than Soldier btw) and the best utility in the game at that point. Kiriko is the same way.

      No, Bap does not deal more damage than soldier. Soldier has a faster time to kill with his primary fire and higher dps even including reload. Plus soldier has helix rockets.

      Other than his ult, his utility isnt too crazy, especially considering how easily lamp is destroyed and what a long cooldown it is.

      @@nichtabonnieren5736 It used to be a lot more powerful at launch, they have nerfed it a lot but Bap is still pretty overtuned, and I'm not sure lamp or suzu are a good idea for the game.

      @PlatinumAltaria I don't believe you because it's objectively not true. Check the wiki for both characters. Soldier has a way lower time to kill with primary primary and still does more damage including reload. Also soldier's fall off range is longer than Bap. Bap doesn't deal more damage than soldier.

    Blizzard Logic
    Ana - No mobility options. Requires good aim, positioning, reaction time, and multi-tasking skills to be good at. Her ult affects one ally, and requires good timing / decision-making to make sure you get the most value out of it. Can deal decent damage, but her shots are pretty small and most of her supportive damage comes from getting follow-up from her team when using Sleep Dart or Bio Nade. Most of her team-play comes from anti-nading key targets just before they receive lots of healing and zero them out (which usually requires follow-up from her team, which I already mentioned)
    Heals at 87.5 HP/s if you can consistently land shots (131 hp/s if the ally has a bio nade applies to them).
    Kiriko - Incredibly overtuned and overcompensated kit for this self-insert, Mary Sue character. TP is instant, self-cleanses, and has more range than Mercy GA; Has Suzu which is a breif godmode and upto 110 burst healing with zero possible counterplay, a cleanse (which removes anti-healing) - All on a relatively low CD; Has wall climb in their kit even though she doesn't need it and it's also MUCH faster than both Genji and Hanzo's wall climb; Her projectiles are massive and can deal more damage and has a faster firing range than Dragonblade while also not having ANY fall off range (It also reloads very fast even though she has 15 whole shots to mindlessly toss out) The best support ult in the game that affects her ENTIRE TEAM and herself, and you don't even really need to time it well either. It also increases the use and frequency of all of her incredibly problematic abilities.
    Heals at 130 hp/s at all times while also auto-locking.

      I really loved the first game I played against a kiriko, I was the tank (rein) and deemed her damage to be a threat so I chased her into a closed room (probably was led there tbh) and that's when I learned that she's full of shit because she just disappeared into nothing

    so glad you mentioned Ram, people complain about Orisa, Mauga and Hog being the braindead sustain tanks that aren’t fun when good, but when Ram is just as good, it’s also just as boring. No skill expression, low skill floor, meaning you can pick him and get a shit ton of value without much brain power, and an incredibly annoying ult. The only thing Ram has going for him is just how fucking cool he looks and sounds. The team did an amazing job designing him (excluding his gameplay)

    I don't mind Lifeweaver personally, but he feels far too free in his utility to a team. Something I've thought about wit his is turning his grip into a Zarya bubble. That way, the target isn't given a free escape, you force a cooldown and secure a kill provided you pop the thing. I do like the tangle idea given the flower theme. Also, I wish they would mix Orisa's current kit with the old one. Make more into a support tank with the Supercharger (or some kind of alternative).

    I'm so mad about lifeweaver because a support that help his team with environmental positioning by moving platforms and other tools was the most unique concept for a support since brig, possibly going beyond the whole "sit back and heal/damage" that every support does except for Lucio and Brig. But then they made him a mercy-like healbot of all things and now he's just the same as all the others. His platform is better and his pull is less terrible, but they just completely fumbled him.

      To be fair to the balance team, Jeff Kaplan didn't design most of these supports with good utility in mind. They are just healers. And the game is balanced around raw numbers.

    My friend’s initial fix for Bastion was nerfing his damage, but giving back his headshot. I do believe this could increase his skill in tracking and nerfing his braindead shield shredding. And like you’ve mentioned, giving back his old Tank back, there was so much skill expression in that ult.

      Ive been thinking of a rework, basically when bastion turrets he actually moves really fast (like ball rolling speed maybe higher) and goes in a straight line foreward like a car. and changing his ultimate back to his tank mode. if you've ever played risk of rain it would be similar to MUL-T's movement ability.

    the most fun part of cree's kit is his gun, everything else about his kit feels terrible (particularly as moore heroes get released) so i dont understand why they keep on touching up his gun. also, the flashbang has NOTHING to do with who he is as a character. when was the last time you saw a cowboy use a fucking flashbang or a magnetic grenade in any movie at all? its as if they got bored haflway through designing him and were like "fuck it just give him something generic like soldier 76". give him a lasso, or pocket sand, or literally anything that has to do with being a cowboy, not a fucking grenade

      his ult is also absoluelty terrible. its like one of the few ults in the game that doesnt immediately do something. he slows down, glows red, and has to wait. any other hero that slows down actually does something ( reaper doing dmg, phara also doing dmg) not to mention that the glowing circles when youre using his ult means jack shit since even if you have 4 red circles on your screen, by the time you click, you STILL have to wait a little bit before he shoots, and all that extra time makes it so he just misses or shoots a fucking wall since he take so damn long to shoot after clicking that all the heroes on the screen moved out of LOS.

      I think OG flash was iconic, and it made him a sort of close-range duellist that you were scared to cross, while still working at long range, which does fit with his character.

      @@PlatinumAltaria if ur gonna makehim a threat at close ragne, use pocket sand or something that fits with the idea of a cowboy. a flashbang does not fit into the idea of a cowboy at all. him kicking up sand to put some dirt in the view of the enemy makes more sense than a flashbang

    You do realize Heroes are just different and it's supposed to be that way right? What works for Zarya doesn't necessarily equate to solid Doomfist design. Seems like what constitutes "good hero design" is just entirely your preferences.

      I did not say they were. I said doomfists block is inconsistent and relies on external factors outside of his control purely in pursuit of EMpunch. Removing the block and replacing it with something more consistent and also something that would help to increase his skill expression would make him more complex and also more rewarding

      @@GREED_EU Doom should never have been that kind of tank in the first place, he's most similar to Hamster. But in OW2 every tank has to do everything, so he's forced to have the Block instead of something that would be more fun.

    moira is tough to play, you run at them with a button held down, so you have to hold forward and push/hold the other button at the same time, I tried her and instantly fell over and stopped breathing, the difficulty almost killed me.

    The skill expression on Weaver doesnt come from his grip or heals but rather from his petal and damage.He also requires good game sense to be played on a high level and a really skillful Lw allows for incredible strategies that no other support could make posssible. I can see where you're coming from with your complaints about lifegrip being a "too easy" safe but consider two things:
    Firstly, there is some skill in the form of game sense in that the Lw has to know when to grip and when not to. It has happened a lot that a teammate gets pulled out of a duel they would have probably won and into a less favorable position where they end up dying and/or contributing less to the fight. Grip often also requires good reaction speed.
    Secondly, Overwatch is a game with many broken abilities and one shot combos. So Lifeweaver has to have some way of competing with other heroes that are broken in their own ways such as Kiri with cleanse or widow with her oneshot. Grip is also on a very long cooldown.
    Same as with Lucio, the skill expression comes from his utility and damage.
    As for Kiriko, I do agree her tp is a bit over the top but I would keep it, just increasing the cooldown to like 10 seconds.
    Also remember that even Kiriko has her weaknesses to at least to some extent balance out her very strong cleanse ability. Think of how slowly her healing travels and compare it to Anas hitscan heals. Suzu is similarly slow.
    But thats just my opinion.

    Cassidy’s ult still stinks, both hinder and flash bang present the problem the other party feels the other party feels helpless in the interaction. My suggestion is to give him a pistol whip that stuns/hinders the melee range limitation requires him to actually aim at you, potentially committing his roll to being range to do it. However, it can’t be denied by defense matrix or Winston bubble. My suggestion for a new cass ult is a few seconds of not having to reload and no damage fall off, in exchange he can’t fan the hammer.

    I would really like that Juno's lock on ability to be the same on both teams. It feels so off putting that the times don't equal each other. But of course nerf the damage to compensate.

      Yeet the lock on and give her a bubble that blocks headshot damage (like a space helmet) on an ally and breaks if they take any other kind of damage. Good for peeking snipers.

    I feel like you don't give enough credence to the amount of skill you need to have to make these characters good. Lifeweaver is a D tier character, potentially one of the worst in the game, and being able to substantially affect games on him takes a LOT of game sense of coordination. Juno's healing is fine and rewards her for not just being a DPS (like Moira does). While I feel like the game could most definitely use some better balance changes, I highly disagree in your choices of how honestly

    For the majority of characters u are right. But I know that u are extremely biased. Not every ability should require skill nor give free value, but if a character like JQ has free overhealth on shift it doesn't mean its no skill because the rest of her kit is very skillfull like her shotgun requires aiming, her knife requires some skill, her axe requires good positioning, the more amount of enemies u apply adrenaline to the more healing u get. MAN ur are a smart person, I hate when smart ppl says stupid things, stop saying stupid things ur too smart for that, not every ability needs gigantic skill, but the most important thing is that this ability has to be fun. Unfun abilities have to be removed, not reworked! REMOVED!! And I know this video is mostly a rant but u are making a lot of good points, but they are overshadowed by the rant parts of ur video. I am also a rein main so I would have agreed with u entirely, but its overwatch not reinwatch, not every character requires high tech, some can be madmax styled like junkers or some can be autistic miners getting shields cuz rocks are hard and hurt u if u bash ur head into them. Imo u should try again and do more compressed, less biased and emotional video with ideas how to fix overwatch (and btw 5v5 is fixable and actually its easier to fix)

      Just means your damage has no travel time, the instant you click damage is registered.

      There are two kinds of guns in video games: the first kind works like in real life, it fires a projectile out that travels towards the target. The other causes damage to whatever your crosshair is pointing at when you pull the trigger instantly, with no travel time. That's hitscan. Projectiles are harder to aim because you have to account for the travel time, even if the bullet is very fast. Soldier's bullets are instant, whereas Orisa's bullets actually fly through the air, which means you have to track your opponent.

    Brig is one of the most balanced heroes in the game right now. She has 5m range, she needs good healing.

    I really enjoy playing lifeweaver…and I’m pretty good at him.
    Every character has their up’s and downs. I like the diversity so differently players with different play styles can find something they enjoy, and then we all come together as a team with all our differences and do our best to win.

    I really wish the OW team were more willing to straight up deleting bad/broken abilities or giving them to characters that might be struggling. A game without suzu or lamp would immediately improve balance. Imagine Mercy with a tweaked version of brig's healthpack. There's so much potential.

    Inspire takes less skill than lucio? How? Lucio's heal is on the moment you pick him. At least brig HAS to interact with the enemy to get value with inspire.

      Because Lucio’s healing has the trade off of needing to be very close to the person he wants to heal as well as deciding not to be on speed. It’s a much harder decision to make and the heal is terrible anyway. On brig, you can be Across the map doing whatever you want while hitting aimbot repair packs and healing literally everyone with inspire every few seconds.

    Only thing I disagree with is the bastion/mercy/moira stuff. I think noob characters are very healthy for the game. I think entry level heroes that serve everyone from people new to overwatch to people new to the fps genre in general are a very good thing. Issues arise when these heroes are actually good, thats how you get mauga meta, Orisa meta ect. Metas that are as boring as they are skill-based. But thats a balance issue not a problem with the philosophy .

Mercy and soldier are not from the same cloth of 'noob', and their ceiling represents that. Im completely fine with this philosophy.

    A lot of issues in this game are a result of the hitbox increases. They should have made hitboxes smaller if anything, which would have made hitscan less consistent, but kept projectiles fair, and introduced a third zone of damage on limbs which took half damage instead of increasing health pools.
    The reduction of skill in the game is the core problem.
    Also, Moira is incredibly easy to fix, make her damage ramp with accuracy (should apply to all beam heroes), and give her a .25 sec acquisition time instead of the instant lock on she has now.

      Ashe, Baptiste, bastion, Brig, Cree, Dva, Illari, Queen because of OH only, Rat, Kiri, Weaver, Mauga, mercy, Moira, Orisa, Pharah, Ramattra, Hog, Sigma, Sojourn, Sombra, Sym, Torb, Venture, Widow, and Zen ALL have something badly designed about them. That is 26 of the 41 heros and that is me being generous.

      @@GREED_EU yeah, but if you ask most players which characters they consider fun/enjoyable to play against they would probably say all of them except Sombra and maybe Orisa. Most characters are also very fun to play as.
      OW is probably the best shooter at balancing dumb fun with competitive gameplay. If we wanted extremely balanced designs we would be playing CSGO not the hero shooter with goofy habilities.
      I agree that rn tank (as a role) is poorly designed tho

    What I'd like to see for Cass, is his HP be brought down to 250, his old Stun restored with a lower duration (so he can actually be the threat to flankers like he was before), and maybe reduce the fire rate of FTH so he can't just Stun+FTH combo. With a lower duration of Stun, that combo would be gone with lower FTH RoF.
    Hanzo needs his faster draw-time back, and Storm Arrows reduced to 4, maybe 250 HP, and for the love god, give him his wall-climb tech with pre-charged arrows back.
    Hanzo is a close-mid range hero, which makes him a much healthier OHK design than Widow. You actually had to take risks to get value with him!
    Buff Genji's shuriken damage to 29-30 and slightly reduce the RoF on fans only. Instantly feels better to play without "making him OP". Revert Blade changes and adjust it for 250 HP and rework Nano to have a diminishing damage reduction over time. Surprise, mitigation and denial has always been the problem in this game.

It basically means neutralizing value (so no +EV or -EV) so your opponent can’t get an edge. “A beautiful mind” was about steve nash who created the idea, i.e/ nash equilibrium. I forget what you said exactly but it was something about mercy in OW1 taking skill but in OW2 everyone can super jump. So in this sense if every skill is easy to use then the skill floor and ceiling is almost the same i.e. the mindset of OW2 neutralizes value bringing skill/rank closer to equilibrium

    I wouldn't mind if Junkrat's boop was nerfed against tanks because of how annoying it is for the tank player trying to push or whatever. But against DPS and Supports I feel it should stay the same. Why? M1 Airshots fascinate me, they feel amazing to hit, require aiming and good tracking, and the damage is just enough in a lot of cases to kill them in the air, especially squishies. Sure, his one shot is way more consistent at killing than playing hit the targets, but it's fun.

    I was with you until you said Ashe nerfs and hitscan being the easiest thing ever? Ashe already got nerfed, Soldier is the easiest hero in the game and anyone can play him so he doesn't really count, Widow is not easy (especially on console). Plus Soldier is not terrible, even top players play him and do very well. Bap on the other hand is a huge problem in terms of damage and healing. Bastion kills everything, I played him once and won the entire game and got POTG, and I main Ashe. So I would agree with the bastion nerf and to make him more skillful. But the real thing we should nerf is Sombra, she is too annoying and everyone plays her and I'm tired of seeing that purple haired, mentally disabled roach with Parkinsons disease. Nerf her or bring back old sombra when we could ACTUALLY REACT TO HER. Also Zarya and Rein are very powerful, and YOU blatantly admitted to being trash at him and being trash in general. There was a lot of things that no one has agreed with, besides the Sombra, Venture, Kiriko, and bastion things, as well as a few tanks. Mercy is fine where she is. Hanzo doesnt need any health changes. Ball is very cheesy. Widow is a sniper, she's supposed to one shot, plus she's extremely and easily divable. And a whole lot of other things I could list. Brother, you're just a bad tank, there are some heroes that are a problem and we all know that, but not the entire cast! And yes, overwatch is supposed to be a more skillful game, but the skill levels of players vary, and they might play easier heroes. And yes some are absolutely brain dead and need to get nerfed to the ground. But everything has a problem and has a solution with it. But sadly the devs are bad with solutions and create heroes that are broken and need changes.

      @gus-df2bv Sure there's a difference between a masters Widow and a metal rank Widow, but it's still Widow, just pressure her with dive and she won't be much of a problem. Plus she has to hit your head to kill you, it's not like COD where you get one tapped from a body shot or Fortnite when you get one tapped with no shields on. And on top of that, Widow gets outperformed by most heroes. Hanzo is a better sniper since he has a faster charge time and movement, plus other abilities to rack up damage on targets. Ashe is also better because even without a one shot, she has more movement and a faster firing rate, so if a Widow misses a single bullet against Ashe, Ashe will always win. And her Dynamite can cause a Widow to retreat and get healed up, keeping her off the field for some time (unless she has a pocket). Also Widows escape option is on a 12 second cooldown, while Hanzo and Ashe have a far shorter cooldown. Also Venom mine doesn't do much. It can lock off a single flank route but with all the other flank routes coming into the game, it's practically useless. But all I'm really saying, is Widow isn't that great at the moment. Sure you could be a git and hit your shots, but you'll still have a high chance of losing since you lack consistent damage. Also her ult is just wallhacks, which Hanzo has all the time. Also, there's a lot of dive tanks that can pressure Widow as well and even dive dps. Dva is the easiest one to use against Widow, and as for dps Genji Sombra, Echo and Venture are the best. Supports I'd say Lucio, Juno, and Moira, since they have consistent damage and mobility. So sure Widow could hit her shots, but she is also one of the heroes with the most counters.

      @@michaelfinklea9295 you need to fundamentally change your play style to play against the widow, similar to your complaints about sombra. if you are high rank with a good widow on the other team, people will literally throw their life away peeling for or protecting the widow, even if you’re full dive. the fact you say hanzo is a better sniper and is good right now kind of cements the fact you have lowkey no idea what you are talking about.

    Nothing wrong with hinder man, it’s not like the previous flashbang that stun locks you out of game, hinder says, you dive me on mcree without caution so you don’t get the chance to escape , you must remain in the fight and fight till one of us dies , I think that’s honest , he can’t dive you and suddenly disengage , you don’t get to TP away or fade away or recall away or swift step away either, you stand and fight since you chose your battle, the damage can come down to half of what it is , but hinder must remain, he can shoot you as much as you can shoot him even with hinder, it’s not a one sided battle

      Ok but it IS one sided. If he hinders me. I take 75 damage, move extremely slowly, can't crouch, and am extremely vulnerable. but some heros literally HAVE to get in hinder range to even fight him. So sometimes your options are, let him shoot you to death, or get hindered and fanned. It's dogshit for any hero that ISN'T another hitscan

      @@GREED_EU im not opposed to removing hinder damage, mcree is aim intensive, remove the hinder damage, hinder should only interact with enemy mobility abilities like a sombra hack, that's fine, then we start shooting each other , shit, remove any slow down interaction , allow them to crouch even, all I want from hinder is that the moira cannot fade away, kiri cannot tp through wall or wall climb, and the sombras cannot translocate, if I miss my shots after I press E on mcree I accept my death. just like the way these beam characters make genji work for his money, there's nothing wrong with mcree making close range characters with escape abilities play on the edge of their sits. half of these close range high mobility characters can take 30% of your hp before you even realize where you're being shot from anyway, then the cheap characters like kiri and moira just need someone to check their bs tbh, I press E on cree, I can shoot you, you can shoot me, none of us can escape , no extra damage from E, no movement slow down, just shooting

      Ok but it doenst do that. It literally only affects Rein, Winston and Genji, and it doenst affect them very hard. It doenst help zen really at all, it’s just a Lucio boop that does more damage and has an infinite cool-down with shorter range. It is dumb

    Thing about hanzo. In ow1 he was sniper with no damage falloff with a fckin bow shooting logs (deal with it) who was also a zoner, flanker and a tank buster and had mobility on top of it...
    Main problem in ow was and still is that only tanks have actual tradeoffs. In other roles there are multiple characters that do way too much, with minimum skill required and some even have no weaknesses.
    But hey ow2 goal is to sell skins and push as much dei as possible. And that dei also goes so far that things get dumbed down because it must be inclusive for everyone. To the point that even brain dead monkeys could play half of the cast now

    I think they should change all characters to projectile to me it would make it easier to balance and you can get rid of that dumb damage fall off. also I like when supports can damage but when they do the same or more in some cases than the dps with all the self sustain on top of it that's when its a problem which is where we are now.

    Junkrat's one shot combo when you're in his range of the bomb is insane, you can easily die if you're just close to him(as non-tank). He is even worse than Mcree and Hanzo combined in terms of the most annoying one hit kills.
    Kiriko and Illari(especially the latter) must have reduced damage.
    Imagine being up against Mcree/Junkrat, Ashe,Illari or Kiriko If they have true aim, you will die just being in the open

    yeah ow2 doesn't do a good job with hero design but I also don't think it would be pretty cool if the easier heros are more harder to play, because what's gonna happen with the casual part? it's not everyone that can or wants to be a fucking pro in this game, they just want to enjoy the game or some hero, sometimes their aim isn't good so they play stuff like weaver or bastion, if we make all the heros take huge ammounts of mechanical skill, congrats you will lose some part of your player base and that won't fix anything, the game will still feel frustrating to play cause the people who sticked to the game are just that good
    it's fine to have cheap heros, as long as they aren't carrying games with low effort, that will be okay

    Overwatch's Hero design is at scales system, either they nail it (Juno, Junker Queen as example) or they fuk it up totally (Kiriko, Baptiste, Mauga in particularly Mauga)
    Before OW2 came, game was actually balanced for some degree and people loved that time but those who made it to happen has either changed project or left the company
    So at this point of time, Character Design team has again new people who at this point of time buffs and nerfs stuff really safe way, which is not really helpful, when game needs huge swift of character philosofy and game balance system

    I understand skill is needed. But it seems like ppl like you say this same thing. I hope you all understand not every single ability will be able to be made skillful. And it seems you want the each ability to be like Mortal Kombat where you need a 3-5 button press to hit that ability. I don't think thats necessary needed nor viable.

      Yes but a lot of gameplay loop is around the turret. Sym, Illari and bap could have their deployables removed and they’d still be fine. Torb NEEDS his turret because his character was built around needing his turret. It’s still annoying, but less so
