The definition of truly giving back to the community by not only having a great place to eat, but also being a positive role model to the employees and everyone loves interacting with and learning from. There's a lot of respect from the young man that said Dave taught him English in primary school, and now he's teaching him how to cook and more. The sense of pride and respect he gave off when he said that shows how well Dave has done, that's something you truly have to earn.

Very impressed with this chef. Not only did he master his culinary skills, he also learned the Japanese language. He is truly an inspiration. I have seen so many fake chefs in Los Angeles who claimed to have trained for many years in Japan, however they don’t even speak Japanese. Even worse, they cannot correctly pronounce the Japanese food they claimed to have been trained to cook.
Everyone in LA is a scammer it's literally a scammer society. They inflate everything, their looks their skills their monetary situation. All a facade. But so is "Japanese niceness"

It is amazing. From Japanese point of view, it is a completely Japanese-style yakitori restaurant. Even among yakitori restaurants run by Japanese nationals, it is rare to find one that is so particular about its cooking methods and ingredients.
Love that idea of just packing up and moving to a foreign place to try things out and loving the food and culture so much you just transplant. Awesome that he is accepted in that community, because I know how hard it can be for outsiders to get to that point. Now I want to try these skewers just once.

This is what I call an interesting man - Canadian guy who has lived in Japan for 30 years, speaks fluent Japanese and cooks yakitori with the precision of an experienced Japanese chef. Impressive.
Delicious looking. The fan over the grill makes the yakitori-ya look like it's well conditioned, but it is of course impossible to remove all grease and smoke, so to stand over this fire the entire day is not easy, it takes a dedicated worker but he's not complaining. This makes me want to go back to Japan!

Someone else must not only have a product that tastes good, but it will have to fight through a variety of competition. Ramen shops are a prime example in Japan.

本当に美味しい焼き鳥屋さんです。とても人気のあるお店で、予約しないとまず入れないですね。
店内・キッチンの綺麗さ、使ってる肉や接客のレベルの高さ

今こうしてお店は繁盛してるかもしれないけど、ここまでの過程で結構大変なことも多かったんじゃないかな。お客さんに「感謝」って話していたけど、やっぱり「感謝」って大事なんだよね。普段どうしても色々なことが当たり前に思えてしまうけど、「感謝」することができるようになればそれだけで人生は豊かになるのかもしれないね。本当に素晴らしいです、いつか行ってみたいお店ですね。
前自分がバイトしてたラーメン屋もそうなんだけど、やっぱり上司が楽しい雰囲気作ってくれると楽しく働けるし、やる気も湧いてくるから本当に素晴らしいね。

Like there are many foreigners living in Japan as expat permanent resident who came to Japan when they don't even know japanese still able to live, learn, adapt and work in Japan for generations. I know an Australian car youtuber who came in Japan for the love of JDM , anime, game and culture in 80-90s now settled here and his japanese family in Japanese lifestyle for ages

Aww what a fun place! It's nice when you can have fun chatting with the chef. The chef if very kind that why his style works. Peace from Vancouver Island! Chef your right! it is too expensive to go out. it's almost a weeks groceries for 2 meals and bevies.
