Residents forced to go another night without power after second Downtown outage

  • Residents and businesses in Downtown Honolulu and Chinatown will remain in the dark for another night. Hawaiian Electric (HECO) crews will work overnight and hope to restore power by noon on Wednesday.

    This is what happens when you have an illegal monopoly on electricity. Extremely high prices, very poor maintenance/ quality control and zero accountability.

    Second downtown power outage? More like third in a week if you count the Kamehameha Day outage in Chinatown on June 11th.

      An elderly friend of fam lives on senior apt on Pauahi. she said power was out for almots 11 hours on Kam day. know one told her whats going on. I wanted to visit but am afraid of going to Chinatown after dark

      @@TuxedoCat-ek4nf The buildings between Beretania and Hotel streets from River to Bethel had outages which affected hundreds of residents and business owners. Hawaiian Electric Company hasn't said publicly disclosed this.

    My coworkers are losing their hours and the company is losing revenue. Why is the Honolulu power plant not brought back as it was decommissioned but not tore down because it’s supposed to be used for emergency purposes.

    Is it worse to have underground or on ground lines?? I know it is safe to have it underground but when something like this happens it’s hard to fix…. Stay safe HECO workers

    The rich condo opposite us never suffer from electricity outrage. Only the not rich ones have to suffer the electricity outrage as we are not rich enough to complaint nor have lawyers to do so.
