I'm not Singaporean nor paid by them. Singapore's Foreign Minister's speech should set a bar to small nations around the world, as well as to those fighting for equitable sustainable development in a tough environment. So many countries come to UNGA to grandstand and play to their base back home. So much of Balakrishnan is focused on the global state of play and not bragging about Singapore. In this, I am increasingly convinced that despite concerns about freedom in Singapore, that country is truly a world leader in how to deliver for the majority of its people.
The funny thing about western values about freedom. Freedom to carry guns, but no freedom to go out at night. Freedom of speech (lies, tales, anything) No freedom of peace, cause one party hurt by untrue, will find another untruth to share about the other party. Freedom to have drugs, but no freedom to those that do not take drugs, just look at NYC and SF druggies on the road sidewalk, used needles thrown everywhere.

Despite two agreements, involving USA and others, recognizing independence for the separatist states, when Russia goes to their aid , after being begged to do so (stopping continued human rights violations, well documented in the UN), The USA lead statement from the UN, is that it is illegal to invade "Ukraine".

Where was the Rule based order or UN Charter rhetoric when West and EU tore apart Middle East ?
