  • Top jurists are set to vie for four superior court positions this week.
They'll appear before the Judicial Service Commission in Johannesburg.
In previous years, the JSC came under scrutiny on how it handled its interview process.
Senior legal minds will also be interviewed for one vacant seat on the Constitutional Court bench.
To discuss this, we are joined by legal expert Mpumelelo Zikalala, from Zikalala Attorneys.

Acting and litigation are not the same. There is an articles that was written by firmer Justice Cameron. He was an advocate by then he dealt with the judges conduct and the complexities of law. Imagine a lawyer who is not exposed tomlitigation setting atbthe ConCourt. This Is just unexceptable. And these judges are mainly white. It is just exercibates the problem. Forget about the re-emergence of customary law in the jurisprudence of Africa if this continues. I am not saying that white judges do not and cannot articulate African cultures. But the manner in which we manage our systems of transformation we need to be sensitive on how we make decisions. Button up approach has proven to be better than this top-down that does nothing but to arrest transformation.
