Music for Symphonic Band - Grade 4
Composed by jazz pianist Chick Corea and recorded on his landmark 1973 album Light as a Feather, this vibrant work has solidified its standing as a jazz fusion classic. The lyrical and sensuous opening features a solo tenor sax, followed by a fast and energetic Latin pulse that features the melody traded between various sections of the band. Paul Murtha's exciting version is effectively crafted for the concert stage.

No way! A Tenor Sax solo?! That's so awesome! I never see that in concert band music.
Ghost Train by Eric Whitacre has multiple mean tenor sax solos in the middle of the song!
young persons guide to John Williams. It has a tenor solo for raiders march.
I know it's published on the concert band channel, it's jazz.
Hannah the Musician ikr I play tenor sax and the only solo I've gotten was with a horn but it's still a solo
Tenor sax is the doinant force
The look of love that I'm getting from that tenor sax solo and the seeming flute prioritization is glorious.
Is that a rare tenor sax solo I hear!? ❤️❤️
Aaron Graf AstronAaron It sure is I so wanna play this in my band so I can brag to the people who say tenor saxes are trash
Aaron Graf AstronAaron ik but I love whenever we get solos cuz I get to play them cuz I'm gonna be the lead tenor sax for the rest of highschool 😃
Pedro Hernandez yeah I play tenor sax in my band and the trumpets say we really don't need you guys another song with a tenor sax solo is bruno mars on tour

In my high school Jazz band, there was a year that about 3-4 of the songs we played had a Tenor Sax solo.
I'm doing this for my band and I was curious on what it sounded like. THIS WAS EXECUTED SO WELL. It sounded so beautiful I could listen to it over and over. I can't wait to play it for concert band.
This sounds like something out of Sound! Euphonium if you know anime. Still sounds great for a Spring concert!! 10/10
David Anthony omg yes

Matthew LeFebvre yeah, if you could hear it
Lol the feeling of accomplishment you get when you nail measures 37-46, still can't get that last high note on bass clarinet.
probably my favourite band piece which is saying alot
Concierto de Aranjuez (II mov. Adagio) - Joaquín Rodrigo

Sad, tuba will never have a melody other than march and solo type of arrangement :(
[Solo] Pro As a tuba player I know that firsthand
[Solo] Pro
Thats the role of the tuba. If you want to play lead, play something else?
[Solo] Pro in the nightmare before Christmas peice there is 2-3 tube solos
Or tuba Christmas
go find american dances by robert w smith. has real tuba solos in 2/3 movements and they're all awesome. also loch and mountain is a good one
gud
The march band version is soooooo much better!!!
Then go listen to your amazing marching version😒 In my opinion you can't compare marching music to concert music because marching band is full of senseless climaxes and with concert band you have to wait and appreciate the gorgeous climaxes. I love marching music, don't get me wrong. But don't compare the two because they each have their own gorgeous characteristics. 😕 A shame to see this comment. But I hope I don't offend you because it's just my opinion. Nothing is factual in my statement other than they're different and that you can't compare the two (Marching band and concert band). Have a great day😃
Jason Smith
I personally like this version better but we all have our opinions
I literally only like the solo
Wdym this piece is amazing
@@carson3838 Too fast and upbeat after that part, I don't personally like that
