      Lin seems to have learned to control his power. He used to engage the ball very early with a lot of uncontrolled power. But the placement of a shot relative to his opponent is crucial. Maybe he figured out that a good placement will enable him to get a softer return. Lately, I think he finally learns to identify when to use a power shot. But this remains to be seen. One or two tournaments is not going to verify his overall progress.

  • @kptt4260
    @kptt4260 Год назад +5

    Lin is more consistent in the rally than before. However, he needs to be even more consistent to dominate. Fan led most of the time but Lin managed to come back and win. In addition, he doesn’t flip return every serve in this match which is a plus because the opponent doesn’t know what to expect. Also, not flipping on every serve cuts down on the mistakes. Another thing I see is Lin often dwell on points that he cannot reach or the shot was too fast for him to make a good return. I think he should just accept that the opponent make a good shot and move on. This will improve his mental game.

    Congrats to Lin Gaoyuan! For a change, not only Fan didn't blow Lin away, Lin won. I believe the key to Lin's game is that he needs to identify when he can release a powerful shot. Before, he tried to overpower every shot and created errors. Also, Lin's placement of his shots are much better, at least in this match.
